Hero Hours Contract is an inclusive turn-based adventure that is moreish despite its flaws. It’s overtly political, perhaps surprisingly so for the aesthetic and genre, and this combined with its charming personality helps it to stand out from the crowd.

Solving the different puzzles to earn "gems" and using those gems to negotiate for better pay and more time off was a great gameplay gimmick and I like how I was rewarded with conversations with some of the other characters which expanded the world. Gameplay was simple and interesting enough to hold my interest for the length of the game. Certain elements of it felt a bit barebones, and I would have like to see a few more trinkets and baubles thrown in there to build upon what's there. However, the depth of the gameplay matched reasonable the amount of time the game expected from you, so that's no true mark against it. The ending sequence I enjoyed and I did feel compelled to complete as much of the rest of the game as possible.

Without going into spoilers. There were certain relationships in the game which I found moving and characters who I empathized greatly with. There was only one character who I thought could've been fleshed out a bit more to explain the specifics of their relationship to the main character.

Overall, this is a short and sweet game about a unionized team of magical girls fighting for better working conditions. The beach episode was done tastefully, the villain was interesting, and there was non-binary representation among the cast. 10/10 and I would read a fanfiction about this game.
