    A nice firt attempt.
    Gensou skydrift has potential as a series, right now it feels like a what could be teaser.. featured is a 1 and a half hour long campaign of witches vs farriers, and a free roam as well as verses mode that can be played online or offline.. featured here are 18 characters and 14 tracks.. this is a very challenging yet addictive racer… the team behind    Gensou Skydrift

    Gensou skydrift has potential as a series, right now it feels like a what could be teaser.. featured is a 1 and a half hour long campaign of witches vs farriers, and a free roam as well as verses mode that can be played online or offline.. featured here are 18 characters and 14 tracks.. this is a very challenging yet addictive racer… the team behind this have worked on Mario kart games, and I definitely felt a bit of Nintendo magic here… skydrift wont blow you away with itsvisuals, but its track design still manages to be done well enough to be memorable.. here you choose a teamof two charcters,all with unique stats and race up to5 other teams… going through hoops, drifting around corners to fill up your magic meter, you can then cast a random spell to help you get ahead in the race.. and this is where gensou skydrift comes up short … its character building.. techincally stats are different, but no two characters felt different playing with for me.. not only that, the spellsbeing the same no matter who I am didnthelp either… gensou skydrift is such a baree bones game that I feel like this is an area it could have shined in with its spell crafting , each character having a unique set of spells, something to make matchmaking actually matter, do I want this more defensive or a more offensive withcor fairy? Rather than do I want the better magic or speed cause I feel like these stats don’t really matter… other than what id like for the future, skydrift is a really good racing game, one that you wont just hop in and be good at=, you have to master the drifting and timing your spells correctly, the track design is great and memorable, and I love the music here…
    Gensou Skydrift wont blow you away or probably keep you hooked for more than a couple of hours, but those couple of hours will feel like a nostalgic drift and for the right price feel is a good experimental kind of racing game with potential as a series for you to give a chance to

    This game feels like a AAA title that has been massively under funded. Mario Kart 8 is not the best Mario Kart and had this game been done to its full potential, I think it would have dethroned Mario Kart in Switch racing games.

    This is a racing game where your cart is another witch that you ride like a hoverboard. You go through gates for a speed boost and every so many gates you make it    This game feels like a AAA title that has been massively under funded.     This is a racing game where your cart is another witch that you ride like a hoverboard. You go through gates for a speed boost and every so many gates you make it through gives you a power up. If you're near the back you get speed, near the front a weapon. You can also save power ups by swapping between which witch is the driver.

    Graphically it has some great looking tracks, the sound track is superb, the gameplay is fast and fun. I paid £15 for this and I thought that price was fair.

    So I am editing this because I said the downside was content. I didn't realise there are more tracks unlockable through campaign mode. Apparently 14 tracks in total. I've unlocked a few now and I really like some of the new tracks. There is some Mario Kart inspired tracks such as Mario Circuit, Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road inspired courses.

    This does require shoulder buttons in 2p, so you better not have lost those black slides with the buttons on if you're planning on using individual Joy-con's.

    The music is bloody fantastic sometimes and even when it's not amazing, it's not crap. The music really suits the levels and play.

    Why 10/10 if it has flaws then? I rate games on a fun to cost ratio and this game is great fun and low cost. I really enjoy playing it, love the music, I find it more fun than Mario Kart 8, just lacking the finesse and length. If a big company took this game and poured some money in to it, it could be one of the best racers made. It will give you a great big white wall of light across your entire screen occasionally and this will make you lose a race. It's frustrating but not the end of the world and each race counts for itself and not for positioning in a group of races, so if you lose you can just jump straight back on the level. It's a major flaw but I still love playing this game.    … Expand

    Gensou Skydrift is one of the few karting games on Switch to come even slightly close to Mario Kart in terms of its racing mechanics, and when it all comes together it's a fun time. Unfortunately, the lack of meaningful single-player content and the fact that the online is dead on arrival means this should be strictly considered a local multiplayer game if you want to get your money's worth.

    Gensou Skydrift feels more like the fan game it actually is than I hoped. The references to Mario Kart: Double Dash are warranted, but it lacks the polish and finesse of that GameCube classic. If anything, Gensou Skydrift shows how far Mario Kart has come, because this might as well be a port of a game from 2003.

    Gensou Skydrift is one of the best kart racers released in recent years. From its hilarious premise to its tight and challenging gameplay, I absolutely recommend this to any kart racing fan whether you know what Touhou is or not.
