Jun 11, 2026To put it all in a joking manner, Gecko Gods feels like what would happen if Gex took a bit of a chill pill and went on a vacation, then reverted to some of his basic instincts instead of spy skills. The artstyle, music, and difficulty appear to fit the overall feel and tone that the developer was going for. At times, the controls can get in the way of navigation and puzzle solving, but it wasn’t a problem that came up often. While the game has a few issues, it feels like an indie game that devs should strive to follow suit of. It has an identity and keeps it, utilizing interesting mechanics that fit that identity. Gecko Gods, keep being yourself. It suits you.

May 11, 2026The most remarkable aspect of this adventure is the constant sense of discovery. Although the puzzles and physics engine don't always quite measure up, the game's overall approach is ideal for unwinding after a hard day, or simply for when we feel like stepping into the skin of one of these little lizards for a while. After all, that is what defines video games: the opportunity to experience adventures that, in any other context, would be unthinkable.

Apr 20, 2026Featuring a cute lizard protagonist and an imaginative archipelago of puzzles, Gecko Gods is just too rough around the edges to earn its stripes. At its best, it emulates the same wonderful feeling of free exploration you get from the Zelda series, but these moments struggle to shine through frustrating controls and low graphical fidelity.
