    One of the better Action/Adventure games I've played in a long time. Super fun with plenty of progression.

    Playing snes and genesis games all day long when I was little, this is one of my favorite indie games so far. It plays, sounds and looks beautiful!! You will not find lots of player guidance here and for me that is a PRO not a con. Finding out secrets and upgrading your character is most rewarding. I saw the mediocre Metacritic score and just had to jump in! This might not be everyone'sPlaying snes and genesis games all day long when I was little, this is one of my favorite indie games so far.     Born in 77 I started (serious) gaming with a C64 and later the Japanese SNES. I was waiting for this retro game since I heard of it last year. I could not have enjoyed more my travel back in time back to the good old days of 2D platformers. Thanks to the guys who built this small peace of art! :-)

    Very entertaining platformer. The controls are precise, and gameplay and player progression are very intelligent. The pixel art graphics and the retro music are lovely. There are some bad so called “retro games” out there, but this one is a delight.

    Great little platform with sone neat ideas (like the ability to change seasons and some easy but rewarding upgrade mechanics) to make it stand out! 16 bit feeling and a some great music as a perfect match, no full marks bekaus of the respawn of some monsters (I HATE respawn!!) :)

    Even though I´m not a big fan of 2D games, I totally dig this one! The characters are programmed with such love and details you really feel the connection between the player and the avatar.
    The "Seasons" feature is an absolute novelty and lets you immerse deeper into the game and gives you a glance behind the curtain;)
    A MUST for Nintendo Switch!

    Here you play as Rick the fox who is only interested in food and gold, but the season tree and patty the partridge need your help..
    Theres a threat of a 5th season, so the season tree gives you a power to change seasons and go out and collect bark for new powers as you of course are their only hope
    The game consists of 4 different sections for each season, these 4 sections contain 2 platforming levels, 1 boss level and a bonus level that focuses on the5th season unlocked after collecting all 10 seeds hidden through out the 2 levels in each season
    for the most part this is a pretty stragith forward platformer, you collect coins and other collectables to unlocknew moves, upgrade your health, your mana, as well as unlock checkpoints in levels, as dying without activating a checkpoint starts you back to the beginning of a level as well as takes away everything you collected
    there are tons of enemies around which are more of a threat than any of the platforming ever comes close to posing, thankfully you have melee attacks as well as a bow.. and as you progress the game, defeat the seasons bosses youll unlock new magic arrows, which will give you access to areas in cleared levels, which is sortve the hook of the game..
    You cant just run to the end of a level, there is incentive to explore not only because certain upgrades need you to have a set number of a certain collectable found, but because after you defea the boss and gain a new magic arrow, youre given a goal of seeds to collect..
    so youll have to run back to levels you’ve clearned searching for these seeds.. most of which until late in the game, wont be accessable your first run through a level..
    The game is designed in a way to force the player to go back and play these levels multiple times..
    I normally have an issue with such a thing, but this game is so unique and fun to explore that I didn’t mind it here…
    The game shines in its moments of seasonal manipulation.. each area has two seasons you can swap between, freezing lakes or even evaporating them completelyy, exposing platforms in trees, making leaves fall for you to jump across
    I don’t feel the game took full advantage of this mechanic, but it helps in making the search for collectables that much more fun, swapping seasons and looking for new oppenings and possibilities..
    every level is full of hidden areas..
    my only complaint with this game really aside from not doing enough with the season changing enough is its bosses..
    theyre ridiculously easy…
    im not asking to be killed in one hit… but aside from the final boss, I never needed more than 2 tries…
    they have multiple stages, but they never change up enough to be anything other than just the first stage but now I have to dodge an additional attack.
    But the charm of this world and its addictive adventure aspects make this an easy recommendation for platforming fans.
    it truly is unique and worth picking up.

    I'm really enjoying this game! Some people have complained about the controls but I like them. In fact, they make me feel like a kid again trying to get used to the different feel of a new game. Rick's limitations add just a slight challenge. After an hour of playing I like the duck/melee and jump/spin slash.     Completed Fox N Forests (100%) last evening on the Switch! The platforming aspect is good, but not awesome. Most of the bosses are easy. There are 2 levels where you are flying a plane which was pretty neat. You have the ability to change between seasons which is a great addition. I had a good time exploring the levels to find all the hidden areas. I did not like having to do some levelsCompleted Fox N Forests (100%) last evening on the Switch!     FOX n FORESTS is a charming little retro-platformer with an original idea, which is, that you can alter the environmental options by switching seasons (time of year) in exchange for mana. The controls are decent, the dialogues funny, the artstyle pleasing enough and the characters skillset progression feels fairly balanced. I can recommend it on sale with a rating of 6.5 out of 10 points.

    As gamer and game publisher I can give a realistic feedback. The game is well designed and realised. It is really a very nice platformer with indie game elements. Looking forward to the next episode. We need more environmental games, maybe include it in future developments.     The game could be more enjoyable if it did not force the player to so much repetition of the levels, exposing its rather short lifespan, and if the controls did not feel too heavy at times, as it often leaves the feeling that the actions on the screen do not match the player's request.

    While there are a number of small issues holding it back, they aren’t enough to detract from the overall gameplay and fantastic boss fights. it might not live up to the lofty standards set by its 16-bit influences, but Fox n Forests remains an enjoyable platformer with some neat ideas.
