I was ready to love the game, but as I go to the single-player adventure mode, in the first 2 seconds I am hit with a 'Confusion' debuff that reverses my controls and causes me to lose the ball. That would be fair, if it hadn't happened on the first level before I had time to blink. And I would have thought nothing of it, if the level design didn't then prove to be entirely unrewarding. Power-ups are a barebone mechanic, and in my short playthrough, I was getting power-ups to a 'power' mechanic I had not yet unlocked. And when I did unlock the first magic power, I found myself on a stage that is actively non-interactive with the mechanic.

In short, the level design is too poor to support the simple gameplay. The power-up and level-up system needs tightening or development, because the power mechanic (which I did not experience more than a single disappointing time) could not possibly save the game.
I give 5 out of 10 because if you have never played a brick breaker before, this game is playable. There are no game-breaking or soft-locking glitches that I encountered, and there is virtually no load time. Again, there is a lot of potential here, which makes it all the more bittersweet that it cannot deliver an engaging experience.…Full Review »
