    Best game in the series has to offer!.
    Here's why!, it has a dedicated dodge button and plays like a DARK SOULS truely a masterpiece of creation that nothing compares. 10/10

    *note played on ps4 hd collection. dante, lucia and trish + a few runs of bloody palace. would give the original a 7 * Devil may cry 2 is a game that I heard a lot about, specifically how bad it is. However while I see so many problems with the game I still somehow came to enjoy this very flawed game. First of the story and characters are pretty laughable in this game and not in a good*note played on ps4 hd collection. dante, lucia and trish + a few runs of bloody palace. would give the original a 7 * Devil may cry 2 is a game that I heard a lot about, specifically how bad it is. However while I see so many problems with the game I still somehow came to enjoy this very flawed game. First of the story and characters are pretty laughable in this game and not in a good way. It's not explained to well what is going on and even dante is a little flat compared to his usually very charming character ended up skipping most cutscenes after the first playthrough. As for the meat of the game the gameplay is pretty simplistic. There are very view moves you can pull off compared to most other character action games which wouldn't be to much of a problem if not for the terrible enemy ai where only the big goat like enemies are the only one that are any threat the others you can just stand back and shoot. A lot of the bosses suffer from a similar problem that staying back and shooting is the best strategy even if it takes forever to kill and getting close to make combos as your arsenal of a basic sword combo a launcher and a thrust is not varried enough to make you feel like a badass and get a high like the best in the genre. Everything I said so far makes it sound like I hate this game but somehow that is not true. while the combat lacks huge depth and challenge I still found myself enjoying the game due to setpieces in dantes campaign and mindless enjoyment of the combat on repeated playthroughs. As for Lucia's playthrough it feels very much like knuckles playthrough in sonic 3. It's much shorter and has far less boss fights and set pieces than dante's. However she has a unique final boss compared to Dante and I think it's far the better of the two. She also has diffrent weapons to Dante that have the same moves but perform a bit diffrently and both characters arsenal of unlockable weapons give you a bit of customisation but you are usually doing the very similar things just with properties that suit your gamestyle. The bloody palace is a bonus for beating the game with both characters that tests your skills in waves of enemies which I actually enjoyed playing and what made me realise this combat system isn't as bad as it originally appears. Trish is a bonus that you unlock by beating dante's hard mode but it's mainly cosmetic and doesn't overly change the gameplay. While the game is laughably easy and lacks depth I still found enjoyment with the "worst" DMC game so I'm looking forward to hitting the heights of the franchise.… Expand

    DMC 2 is a good game not more. Has great graphics with nice gameplay. I'd give better review but this game has not a solid story and DMC 2 is too short if compared with DMC games.

    Is it bad? Yeah, its really bad. However its bad in the same way that The Room is bad, where there are so many obvious flaws and weird decisions behind it that it loops around to being enjoyable again. If you go in expecting a great Devil May Cry game you're going to be massively disappointed, but if you go in not intending to take it serious at all its great fun. Its short length and veryIs it bad? Yeah, its really bad. However its bad in the same way that The Room is bad, where there are so many obvious flaws and weird decisions behind it that it loops around to being enjoyable again. If you go in expecting a great Devil May Cry game you're going to be massively disappointed, but if you go in not intending to take it serious at all its great fun. Its short length and very easy gameplay help it go down smoothly and prevent any of the oddities from grinding you too hardly. 4/10 as a game, but 8/10 as an experience.… Expand

    Devil May Cry 2 may not be the best in the series, in fact compared to the first title is completely a step back in the series, but hey the game itself got some good ideas which most fans "like" to ignore:

    -The soundtrack is if not the best, one of the best in the series, come on, every track is awesome and very representative and catchy.

    -This was the last Devil May Cry that got the horror ambientation (along with DMC1), i really miss it, and the design of the monsters, bosses and the characters itself is magnificent, they were inspired by lovecraft really.

    The biggest problem of this game was the A.I and the difficulty, unless you play this game on hard or even on DMD there´s no real challenge, and some bosses were not polished at all, (yes i´m talking to you infested chopper and furiataurus), and making you play both with Dante and Lucia in order to unlock the next difficulty is just a mess, it´s like for example in DMC3 in order to play in hard difficulty with Dante you have to complete first Vergil´s campaign, it doesn´t make any sense!.

    Overall the game it´s not bad, it´s just a different approach, they tried to do something new and it just failed, that´s all, and judging this title by the story and Dante´s personality is just lame, the first didn´t have even a good story, with very few cutscenes same as here.

    In conclusion, DMC2 is just inferior to the first title, it´s not a good Devil May Cry, but it´s a good game, it´s a solid 7.5 -8 / 10 game wether you like it or not, and let me remind you that thanks to this game, DMC3 is the masterpiece it is, many ideas of this title were used there.    … Expand

    the only thing making this game a 1 is that it functions it guess. Enemy AI is awful, they just stand there and are never a threat. and guns have so much hit stun that you can lock an enemy till they die and then kill the next one. Regular combat is not fun or satisfying and combos are just like 3 hit strings that launch the opponent miles which isn't fun. bosses are either annoying or toothe only thing making this game a 1 is that it functions it guess.     I would say this is the weakest Devil may Cry game, but it's still a lot of fun. The story is okay, but nothing over the top.
    The gameplay changed a little, but in a good way and you get to play one more character (which cuts the game time with the Main character in half)
    Overall I had the feeling it's a little shorter than the previous game, even though you have 2 CDs and 2 Characters to    I would say this is the weakest Devil may Cry game, but it's still a lot of fun. The story is okay, but nothing over the top.

    It's always a good thing when old titles are once again available for purchase, but Capcom should perhaps start pricing their rereleases accordingly. Devil May Cry 2 wasn't worth the money in 2003, and it certainly isn't worth much today. A miserable hack 'n' slash, it's a miracle the franchise managed to survive such a blunder in the first place. It's perhaps worth playing from a historical context - if only to gain a deeper understanding of how it failed the original's legacy… but Devil May Cry 2 is otherwise better left in the past.

    The only reason to consider Devil May Cry 2 for the Switch is if you're either a completionist or a die-hard fan of the series. The game has the trappings of a decent action game, but with the Devil May Cry name attached, the expectations are higher. Nothing can justify it being a sequel to one of Capcom's more exciting PS2 games. Unless you need to experience every Dante adventure, skip this one and wait for the inevitable port of the third entry instead.

    Overall, Devil May Cry 2 is not a terrible game. Coming off the heels of the original and the Bayonetta games, however, there is virtually no reason to play this game unless you’re truly curious. I enjoyed the four-hour adventure as a good distraction, but the glaring problems, such as the camera and story, left a bad taste in my mouth. There are certainly worse games to play, but if you’re itching for a new game in the genre to play, you may want to look elsewhere.
