This runs well on the switch considering how much is happening on the map. Unfortunately past a certain level progress tapers off and the game becomes a repetitive slog. Unfortunately past a certain level progress tapers off and the game becomes a repetitive slog. Progress becomes tied to the power-ups you pick up, you may or may not get what you need; this is not a case of making use of what you have, you eventually have to have the force field to charge larger enemies without being swarmed and killed by the small fodder. Often powers spawn where you can't reach them, often in the centre of a horde, these are not worth attempting to pick up because a number of power-ups have little utility beyond a certain point. Sometimes you will only get the 'rebuild city' power up, this will continue to spawn until you pick it up, you have no choice. I got this on sale, but at full price this game simply isn't worth it despite the clean aesthetic, and it running well on the switch. I played for maybe 4 hours and I'm already done playing, not out of frustration but disinterest. Expand

Has a lot of good ideas, great graphics, and it's fun in the beginning but it quickly becomes tedious and seems like there's no point to the gameplay. There's no goals or anything. It falls short but could have been good.

Destropolis can be summed up in two words: minimalist and frantic, that's what better characterizes this twin-stick shooter where waves of enemies will rush towards the player - or even better, players in cooperative mode. There are plenty of like-minded games on the Nintendo Switch eShop catalogue but Destropolis can still put up a fun, fresh experience. Those looking for something longer and more in-depth should look elsewhere, though, as Destropolis is mostly aimed at quick and intense experiences.

When things start getting really explosive — which is to say, almost immediately — what you see is a game that’s a whole lot of fun. Destropolis may only do one thing, but it does that one thing very, very well.

A short but well made arcade twin-stick shooter experience with a minimalistic graphic approach.
