It's amazing! Interesting story, new great characters (ALL HAIL RALSEI!11!), also there are characters from Toby's previous game "Undertale" which is cool. And i immidiately loved the soundtrack. Especially "Field of Hopes and Dreams" and "Rude Buster". Waiting for next chapters and i know they are going to be good as the first one.

I'm gonna be honest its too short but the battling is soooooooo good. When going through the game the characters bond and the dialogue is soooo well written it literally makes you chuckle. Plus its free.

Amazing. If you loved Undertale, you're gonna love this too. Story, writing and music are once again incredible and the Battle and RPG elements are fleshed out quite a bit more than in Undertale. Many great aspects from Undertale combined with improved combat and visuals make this a great demo. I'll definitely be buying the rest of the game when it comes out.

Deltarune is a game everybody should experience. It's a free game for the switch which means everybody with a switch should try it. I haven't even played Undertale yet but now I feel like I need it. In the gaming industry you almost never see comedy games besides indie games which are normally only on PC. This is the first RPG I've enjoyed, everyone should try it.

I haven't ever gotten the chance to finish Undertale, but still, Deltarune Chapter 1 was an amazing experience, full of creative creatures, fun RPG battles and friendship. A must-play free RPG game on the Switch. (And yes, I DID finish this game though...)

If you already played and liked Undertale, you should try this. Fight mechanics are improved, but the tone of the game it is the same.

A fun short RPG game with the witty humor and uplifting music we know from Toby Fox. The battle system has been improved since Undertale. A good few hours of fun. Plus it's free.

I especially love the character designs. The music in this game is just as good as Undertale's, if not better. If I had one complaint, it's that this game really lacks enemy variety in some areas. I usually encounter mostly hathies and rudinns. In conclusion, this is an amazing game that is certainly worth playing. Go ahead and try it. It's free. Have a lovely day/night, folks! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a great start to the game. Deltarune Chapter 1 sets the stage perfectly for future chapters in deltarune. The visuals are massively improved from undertale making it more cartoony and expressive, as well as having some beautiful sprites. This game also fixes another problem with Undertale that being the act system. In undertale the act system was a neat concept but was fairly uninteresting as once you solved the puzzle the game becomes pretty monotonous in the late game, but here you have multiple party members now adding in more strategy in the game while also making the late game feel less monotonous, it also helps that this game has more enemy variety than undertale. The bosses in this chapter are also incredibly fun, like in undertale. They all have creative attacks and some very charming and funny dialogue. The music is also phenomenal easily one of my favorite video game soundtracks ever. I also really like the dark world in this chapter, the characters within it have interesting arcs and are very fun endearing characters, the theme of cards in chapter 1 is also really imaginative and creative and it makes for some good puzzles. Finally, there is the storyline in this chapter, being honest I don't have much to say about this chapter's storyline, but it does do a great job of introducing the characters and world to us, and chapter 1 drills this mindset into your head that this is not a world like undertale. It's a great way to subvert expectations. However, there is one part of the story that I thought was the best part about it, and that was Susie's arc. Susie starts off as a mean bully to kris, and when she goes into the dark world, she acts mean and tough to Ralsie, however later on in the chapter it's revealed that Susie acts this way because she's lonely, people treat her like a monster and she has no friends, and this is shown in the second vs Susie boss fight, where she gets angry and interrupts lancer's words as a betrayal because lancer was the only friend Susie had for a while, and now that lancer is now alienating her, she gets angry and tries to kill lancer out of frustration..but at the end of the fight....she doesn't. Why? Because she cares for lancer, she can't bring herself to kill her only friend. And in the end, she becomes friends with kris and Ralsie and breaks free from her bubble. That is the best character arc EVER. Toby knows how to make a good character and Susie is the best example of that, and she is my favorite character in both chapters 1&2. But anyway, ya this is a great start for deltarune and I really can't wait for chapters 3,4, and 5 to come out. Highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed undertale. Expand

It’s unknown at this point just how big of a project Deltarune will turn out to be – only Chapter 2 is confirmed as of the time of writing – but this first chapter proves to be a solid, if a little too safe, take on the unique gameplay and humour that made Undertale such a hit. At worst, Deltarune Chapter 1 is just a smaller and shallower version of Undertale; at best, it’s a promising glimpse into a much more ambitious project that will hopefully grow to escape the shadow of its forerunner. Regardless, you can download Deltarune Chapter 1 for free right now from the eShop; we’d encourage you to give it a download and see what you think.
