I didn't get a chance to play the original version, but I am loving this remaster on the Switch. Very fun to play with my sons as it supports up to 4 players. Here's hoping that a physical version is launched at some point, I would certainly double dip.

A near perfect port of the classic beat 'em up. Still loads of fun and now even better with the option to take it on the go.

Played the heck out of it on my friend's 360 back in the day. Plays just as good as ever and looks a little bit nicer ...but in the world we're in now, where awesome retro gameplay styles like this are a dime a dozen on a weekly or monthly basis, think you might find going back to this one sans any new compelling content or modes...you'll be mildly bored.

Castle Crashers is a minor cult game that's welcome on every platform. It's a pretty classic belt scroller beat 'em up, but it spruces up the formula with great animations, loads of unpredictable humor, and plenty of enemy variety.

PROS: - BRILLIANT ANIMATIONS AND ENEMIES: The fun, absurdist graphics and out-there fights had me and my friends chuckle from start to finish. - PERFECT
Castle Crashers is a minor cult game that's welcome on every platform. It's a pretty classic belt scroller beat 'em up, but it spruces up the formula with great animations, loads of unpredictable humor, and plenty of enemy variety.

    PROS:
    - BRILLIANT ANIMATIONS AND ENEMIES: The fun, absurdist graphics and out-there fights had me and my friends chuckle from start to finish.
    - PERFECT FOR CO-OP: This isn't a game to play alone. Call your friends! Two, three or four players can tackle the campaign together.
    - SURPRISINGLY DEEP: Classic beat 'em ups aren't know for their depth, but this one has enough moves and techniques to reward more technical players.

    CONS:
    - BADLY DESIGNED ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT: On the Switch, the game only saves progress for one character per user. You can work around this unnecessary limitation by assigning each player to a different user–but the game doesn't warn you about the issue, and we were disconcerted when we lost a lot of our progress.
    - MAYBE "TOO" CRAZY AT TIMES: Wacky, fun, yes, all good. But sometimes, the game feels like it's been weird for weirdness's sake.
    - IN THE END, IT'S STILL A BELT SCROLLER: The mechanics in this genre are implicitly repetitive. Even with its wild cast of characters, Castle Crashers does feel samey after some time.

This has to be one of my favorite games of all time! the game is super good, the game play is simple yet super intricate, and for those who found the main story too easy then you can replay it on expert!

The perfect couch multiplayer game. Gameplay and art style holds up very well even after all these years.

While the action can get repetitive too fast and its difficulty level is a tad too artificial, the game is an overall fun experience with a good lifespan, especially on multiplayer up to four players, which is where Castle Crashers Remastered really shines.

Never rescuing princesses had been as fun as in Castle Crashers Remastered. Choose your knight and go out to the battlefield with your favorite fish, melt your enemies with rainbows and, above all, have a great time with your friends in this amazing and addictive replayable game.

In spite of its repetition, Castle Crashers Remastered is an enjoyable and mindless romp that’s best experienced with four players. While it might not hold up as well against my initial 2008 playthrough there’s enough content and fun still to be had that made revisiting Castle Crashers a nostalgic journey worth taking.
