Maybe it is not the definitive old-school collection ever released, but Capcom Arcade Stadium is a really good one: so many options and excellent games to choose from. [Recommended]
  2. To summarize, it’s a little hard to slam-dunk recommend any of these three packs. The collection of games as a whole is nice, with very few true stinkers. If you haven’t dabbled in any of the other Capcom collections, maybe it’s worth seeing the wider assortment of genres here. Strider (in the second pack) and Progear (in the third pack) are the two clear standouts to me, especially since they aren’t also available in another more fully featured package on the platform. I hope Capcom builds out Capcom Arcade Stadium more, because at the very least, it’s a really cool place to mess around with different arcade cabinets.

Even if you have access to all these titles through 'other methods' of emulation, this is the best way to play these old favourites thanks to all the customisation options, the rewind feature and the speed control function. This package is worth it just for the shooting games alone - Giga Wing, Progear, 1944 and 19XX are amongst the best arcade shooters EVER produced. Then throw in 3 Street Fighter 2 games, some quality brawlers like Battle Circuit and Powered Gear and classics like Strider, Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Final Fight and you have an outstanding compilation! This really is a 'must buy' for any retro gaming enthusiast! I'm so glad I purchased this and I'm really looking forward to the release of more bundles in the future to build on this fantastic collection. Great job Capcom! Full Review »

What a weird flex) but there are frame skipping issues across the entire swath of games in this collection. Not mentioning the aspect ratio issues plaguing several of these games, it's impossible to make these games actually look good because things just run so poorly. Maybe someone who hasn't been emulating these on Pentium 2 processors decades ago can't tell that the games are running awful, but if nobody mentions it, it's never going to get fixed, so I'm mentioning it. These games run awful. It may be because they're encapsulated in an engine unfit for arcade cabinet emulation (lol), it may not be, but the fact remains, gross. Do not spend $40 until they fix this.

The value is certainly here if they can patch it, but it's not up to the task of impressing anyone who knows how these games SHOULD be running and SHOULD look.
