I liked how much control you have here. How a cleverly crafted deck can deliver the right level of satisfaction and bring a sense of calm to the game. However, the focus on storytelling will be a double-edged sword. It means there are only a handful of bosses, randomly assigned to a specific chapter, and their techniques remain unchanged. This doesn't support excessive variety, which might be lacking with extended play, but we're still talking about several or a dozen solid hours with a great atmosphere and well-thought-out gameplay.

As we seemingly move into a space where all forms of gambling are mixed up with roguelike concepts, this shows unique promise but doesn’t hit the same playability highs as its competition.
