The Blackfoots have been dealt a mighty blow by the fearsome House Ender - you must infiltrate their defences and cut out the rot.

Build your deck and fight your way through the city of Dawn's Point with card based combat and up to 6 members in your party. Characters loyal to your cause have a set of unique cards and abilities that may augment your deck in powerful, exciting ways.

Defeat each of the elite opponents in your path to the city's Guard Captain and cripple the Enders at their core. You and your brethren may fall at this attempt, but there will always be others to carry the torch. House Blackfoot will remember, and they will never relent.

Encounter a series of scenarios as you travel through the city which may help you, but at the expense of some moral ground.

A strategic card game with a nice art style and some pretty nice ideas. Learning the basics is satisfying but the game didn't offer enough mechanics to spend your time on a second or a third complete run.

Ontop of that i got it for like $6.

But as many have save said the controls are abysmall with no way to chnge them. I have multiple times skipped a turn because i was trying to do go knows what. There's so many buttons used in battle. If you must insist on seperate buttons on cards and the field then use something like the trigger buttons. Don't even get me started on the fact you can't see de/buffs until you press a button. Shoulnt that just show up when selecting and entity in battle. I know thats where one of wasted turns came from.

Now for bugs. The noticeable one i experienced was that if your character leveled up and then left without upgrading you your will or stamina you were essentially softlocked in the character screen. I got out of it once but idk how. And im sure there's more to come.

Should you buy this game? Maybe but only i the switch is only console you own and you want a hard slay of the grim dark aesthetic. Otherwise get it on PC because at least if its bad modders will fix it. Im not md ad this purchase I just wish i lived but to the pc version. but its also rhw game that made me an this account to warn people

I might come back to this review after beating the game, hell i might do a video review but for now thats if.

Unfortunately, what feels like a rushed, sloppy, and ill-conceived port has sapped pretty much all enthusiasm I had for it. When the title screen is still showing "Early Access" it serves as a canary in the coal mine for how little attention and love was put into porting this to Switch. Aside from the text in many cases being completely impractical for portable play the real crime here is how simply horrible the implemented console controls are. Awkward use of both sticks and the triggers never feels intuitive or logical, and it encumbers the game horribly in a way I've never seen with any other deckbuilder on the system. This pains me to say but while I really love the base play of Ruin and how it meshes deckbuilding, smart tactical combat, and roguelike chance together on the Switch I can't recommend it in its current state.

The fact it boldly states “early access” on the title screen (even though it isn’t)? The fact you have to press on the ‘R’ stick JUST TO ADVANCE THROUGH MENUS? The fact that it hangs (no button press will continue the game) after you level your character? The absolutely unreadable enemy text (even with the switch zoom feature on FULL)? The impenetrable equipment management? The unfathomable control system? The list goes on. Zero attention paid to this release. Save your money. Avoid. Expand

I couldn’t end my turn after running out of cards to play. Unacceptable as if no testing was done at all. Expand

This game is horrible to play handheld, text is tiny and the way the buttons are used is odd (Press "R" stick to advance for a common command in a card game...) and most stats are even smaller then the text. This is enough to make the game unplayable in handheld, which is the main draw with the Switch release.

And the devs do not reply to this, neither on Steam or there own Twitter. Most indie devs are very responsive even small teams. This is an insult, they should have postponed this release...
