After my computer could no longer play League of Legends, I've spent years trying to find another moba I could play. Overwatch was quite nice, and Trans-Galactic Tournament was funny and enjoyable, but they were not traditional moba's, and I am quite poor, so I can't afford a new computer. Overwatch was quite nice, and Trans-Galactic Tournament was funny and enjoyable, but they were not traditional moba's, and I am quite poor, so I can't afford a new computer. I thought I'd never get the taste of moba game play again, until I heard Arena of Valor was coming to the switch, and boy was I excited. I eagerly awaited its release and downloaded it first thing in the morning, played the crap out of the game these past three days, and here are my thoughts...

The game play is incredibly unbalanced, lack of variety in heroes and their roles, where marksmen are incredibly overpowered and tanks feel rather useless because they can not soak up the damage or they can but they do absolutely no damage what-so-ever becoming utterly useless in a 1v1, having to solely rely on the team, and some times you can't even do that, some times you'll find yourself initiating into a 1v5, while the rest of your team runs away, cause they're cowards, and there are not enough supports, or variety in the supports to make it worth picking one, as they hardly have enough to contribute to their team, when you can just as easily pick another marksman.

Also all maps except the Grand battle are complete crap. Valley Skirmish takes anywhere between 3 - 5 minutes to complete, Abyssal Clash completely supports the losing team, by the time the losing team spawns after being pummeled by the better players, they have better gear and end up steamrolling afterwards while we're all dead for 30+ seconds, and turrets have little to no health, so it's a quick and easy win for them, and Solo Battle is pointless. Hook wars is also pointless, and as idiotic and moronic as the creators behind it.

I feel like they focused too much on graphics and frame rate, and not on the more important stuff, like stats. The game is being played in a different way, so the heroes should be nerfed or buffed respectively, but it's like they don't even care, they could have at least done this during beta, or keep a reasonable mind and prevented ranked matches til they thought the game was balanced enough, but no, it's a cluster****.

And worst of all, within the three days of playing this game, I have experienced over 30 crashes, forcing me to constantly fight against my credibility score so I can receive rewards, but the crashes, and penalties weigh a lot more then participating in a game, -5 if it crashes, +1 if you play a game, it's gotten too low, and I feel it's a cheap and dirty way to make you play more, either that or this game wasn't only ready for a port, but the game itself was broken from the start and should never have been ported. If the crashes keep up like they are doing, the game will eventually force me out of the game, either through banning me or preventing me from playing any of the pvp content, I would rather save myself the trouble and quit now.

I can't recommend this game, in fact I urge you to stay away from it. For a moba, this is perhaps the worst one I have ever played, and it would get a negative review, -1/10, if I could, cause there are plenty better moba's out there to waste your time away.

Total crap, just like mobile version. Another Chinese game with Chinese gameplay, mechanics and cheating monetization trying to make it to the west. No actual localization that considers how controls are actually mapped out for western gamers. Makes no sense to have DC characters in it at all.

Excellent game made even better by free to play. This is a solid upgrade from the mobile version and runs smoothly (usually around 45fps). An update to change the configuration of button layout would be nice but with that aside this game is exactly what it should have been, same game as mobile with massive graphical upgrade and character tweeks. Highly recommended to anyone interested inExcellent game made even better by free to play. This is a solid upgrade from the mobile version and runs smoothly (usually around 45fps). moba games are a tough call, I was excited to see this game was free on the Switch and decided to download it. I have always been a big fan of moba games in general, from the early days of Dota as a custom game on Warcraft 3 to the latest true to life Dota 2 stand alone. They are very fun genres but often many are done improperly. I am pleased to say that Arena of Valor delivers on the Switch. Being a free game is already nice, but the fact that it plays well and has good controls with likable heroes is a big plus. Obviously there are in game purchases to unlock more heroes the easy way or there is the traditional grind. Many of the heroes take hours of game play to unlock so unless you really like playing as the free to play characters in rotation, you will probably drop a little coin on this like I did to get a couple characters under your belt. As for the game play, it is your traditional moba which is a big win for us old school moba lovers. You have three lanes and a few different modes, 5v5, 3v3, 1v1 and ranked which you cannot unlock until you have unlocked enough heroes to qualify for ranked matches. The way you purchase items is a bit different, you can set up a set list for each character and purchase those items while on the map, or you can manually purchase items as you go. The customized approach is much better and helps you to stay on the battlefield longer. Also unlike most moba games, you do not have to physically go to the store in game, you can purchase the items and they're automatically added to your inventory and you receive the benefits then and there. Like any good moba, your team matters a lot, yes there are carries but you absolutely want to play with friends willing to cooperate if possible. The game offers in game chat and quick responses for warning teammates or calling out a plan etc. The graphics are not the greatest but I do not know anyone that plays moba games for their shine. All in all, if you have a switch and want to play a good moba on your TV or in your hands, this game is a must have. Expand

I played the mobile version and thought it was quite good but when I heard of the switch version, I decided to wait before getting into it. So far it seems really good. Good selection of modes, heroes and item builds. If you like league of legends and can see past the features that are missing in Aren of Valor that other moba's have, you are in for a blast. FANTASTIC GAME AND ITS FREE!!! I was not a fan of League of Legends on PC - It never hooked me. However, everyone is back at the same start with a fresh game that is derivative from its mobile counter-part and that allows for fresh new players to jump in without getting owned everywhere. The only thing they need to update/patch up is the little glitches, random game crashes, and see if they can boost the game from its now 45 fps to 60 fps. The random crashes are few and far in between and the glitches don't really interrupt the game, they are very small.

They have room for improvement but the game is SOLID! Extremely fun!

I tried this moba after playing many other ones, in PC and mobile. From the start you will find this game absolutely filled with clutter and advertisement. It is really annoying to have to click through literally tens of ads / distractions to actually get to play.

The UI and heroes are nice, but the games are probably the worst I've seen in mobas. Its like the devs haven't done anything

The UI and heroes are nice, but the games are probably the worst I've seen in mobas. Its like the devs haven't done anything to balance the heroes, and only the heroes you are willing to pay actual cash with are going to be any good. The frustration is made worse by a broken match making. There are too large differences in skill both within teams and between the teams. It is not unusual to play against server bests while you are still practicing, or at least there will always be one player in your team who is 1) completely clueless 2) seems super angry 3) throws the game on purpose.

The above stuff has generated probably the most toxic community there is in ANY game. It is frankly disturbing to see the amount of rage and hate in this game. Definitely will make you feel worse after playing.

Super not-recommended, wastes your time and mental health.

Sorry, I don’t see the developers’ intentions.

The game's numerical design is unreasonable and the battle experience is not balanced. I sincerely hope that developers can consider the game experience from the overall perspective, rather than just design each character independently.

A great appetizer to the greater world of MOBA games. It’s definitely got to be one of the best mobile takes on the genre I’ve ever played, and there’s no doubt I’ll boot it up every so often on my Switch.
