    Anodyne is a strange sort of game. I like the fact that it is quite easy and forgiving with the focus being more on exploration rather than combat or platforming. The game world is quite simple and the levels all have a distinct feel to them thanks to the very unique and atmospheric music. There are some nice moments in this game, and the conversations you have with other characters areAnodyne is a strange sort of game. There are some nice moments in this game, and the conversations you have with other characters are designed to make you think, but when I finally finished the game after almost 10 hours of play, I was a bit underwhelmed by the unclear ending.     Anodyne mixes solid old-school dungeon crawling with a delightfully weird and warped narrative set in a fever dreamscape full of bizarre secrets and surprises. The gameplay mechanics might not offer anything particularly new but Young's adventure still manages to throw up plenty of original and off-kilter scenarios and is something of a gem in the Switch's line-up of retro action-adventure titles.

    Anodyne takes a bit to get into, but becomes more interesting once the tone and setting sinks in. It might not be for everyone though and you may find yourself confused for the first few hours, but letting go of typical adventure game logic might be enough to let you dive into the mystery and dreamlike nature of its world.

    Despite the dull combat system and the infuriating card collecting mechanic, it manages to tell a fascinating and surprisingly relatable story that should be experienced at least once.
