I've already had my fill of this recipe. I was sort of hoping for something a little new.
-
AceGamezBetween the boring combat and characters that never quite connect, it is difficult to keep playing after a while, without setting the game aside for something more interesting.
-
The Legend of Heroes II will not disappoint fans of the original that are looking for more of the same. The rest of us can expect to be a little less than impressed.
-
Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch isn’t a bad RPG, but its lack of freshness is a major strike against it. If you can get past that, you’ll find some fun to be had for a few dozen hours or so.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyBut Heroes II doesn't really offend on any level. It just doesn't excel. [July 2006, p.94]
-
I’m not sure if it’s translation issues or what, but this franchise needs a much more compelling story if they want me to invest a huge portion of my already-limited portable gaming time on a game of this magnitude.
-
Game InformerI can't say any one aspect of this game is broken or terrible, but I also can't think of a single thing it does to make it worth your time. [July 2006, p.113]

If you enjoyed the last Legend of Heroes PSP game, the second one will be right up your alley. You get a fairly long quest, memorable characters, and the addictive Pet System to keep you busy. But, if you're new to the Legend of Heroes scene, you might want to give the game at least a three or four hour grace period.
-
If only these instances of charm were more frequent, and weren't interspersed by such tired gameplay, Legend of Heroes II could have been much more enjoyable.
-
The best thing about The Legend of Heroes II is that it's a long game, and could easily take you a few dozen hours to play through. It doesn't noticeably improve on any aspect of its predecessor, including the story, characters, or quality of the text translation.
-
If you've never played an RPG before, then perhaps this'll make for a memorable adventure. It's certainly competent. However, those who are well-versed in the ways of herbs and leather armor would do well to save their money for a more invigorating, less blatantly soporific quest.
-
Just like last year's edition, The Legend of Heroes II just about gets the job done... with very little panache.
-
The Toyota Camry of PSP RPG’s.
-
This is pretty much a standard Japanese RPG experience. Even if you have not played these types of games before, you will not have much of a learning curve here.
-
If you don’t mind a generic story, a simple battle system, and a lengthy, though at times slow, journey, then you may want to consider giving this a look.
-
The game's plot feels extremely generic and bland regardless of how much time you put into it, and while there are a number of interesting features with the battle system and the inclusion of the pets, these are somewhat flawed with some over balancing issues.
-
The game continues to share many of the same flaws as the original, but the long quest and the improved translation certainly help.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineSo there you have it: a typical Japanese RPG. With pets. [July 2006, p.85]
-
PSM MagazineLegend of Heroes II looks great and has the same solid RPG feel of its predecessor, and also adds some nice new features, like enemies which you can see and choose to avoid, if you wish. [July 2006, p.87]
