    No doubt Silent Hill Origins is one of the best Silent hill of the saga, in spite of being a little bit short and the little problems with the camera, this game make honor to this amazing saga as a great sequel, the enviroment is awesome, the variety of weapons is excellent and the story is interesting. Definitly one of my favorite Silent Hill.

    This game is an amazing adventure. I remember playing this a few years ago, back when PSP was released. Reviewing this right now is something nostalgic for me, but this game, for it's time and for being one of the PSP's first games, is an amazing adventure.

    Gameplay: 8/10 - Easy controls and nice camera. Graphics: 8/10 - Good enough to immerse you into the game. Music: 8/10 - Sad and    This game is an amazing adventure. The game is very short as SH3 was it's very similar to SH3 graphically but the gameplay style was alot like SH1 which makes it a good combo but the story was just not good at all, I still think this is probably the second best SH game. I can only describe this game as SH1 and SH3 combined with a bad story, if only it had a good story this would be the best.… Expand

    I do not understand, why do people think that this game is bad? Sure it isn't scary, but other than that, the game is really good. Of course it failed as a horror game, but it didn't failed as an action game. The game play, controls and plot is really good.

    Origins may have it's faults but you have to take a few things into consideration about this game. Originally it was being developed by an American branch of Climax, but production was moving sluggishly and apparently was turning out so bad that a bunch of people got fired and the project was moved over to a UK branch of the studio... who had only about a year to rebuild the game from theOrigins may have it's faults but you have to take a few things into consideration about this game. That being addressed, I think the team did a great job on Origins. The main thing that put me off was the story and involvement of familiar characters. The Alessa tie-in was pointless and caused the plot to suffer as a whole, as it felt unfocused and no one aspect of it was touched on enough for you to care. Also the combat system is glitchy and inventory system is just ridiculous. But beyond those things I got everything I wanted in a portable silent hill game. Good exploration of the town and it's creepy buildings, disgusting monsters to face, cleverly executed puzzles and riddles, another awesome soundtrack from Akira Yamaoka, and an overall satisfying experience for a portable horror game.… Expand

    Completed the game in less than 4 hours. The game is ok for a handheld, but to be honest its the weakest Silent Hill game in the market. With few puzzles and bosses that are simple to beat the challenge is not so great. Breakable weapons also becomes a real pain in the butt after awhile.

    A revolution in the silent hill saga, may be the best, but has some problems first the camera is like a kid without candies second is not a game that can be played outside, you must play it in a dark room with headphones third you can finish it in 5 hours, i agree that is a handheld console, but a game is made for entertain his owner for longtime by the way this is a "must have" for this console.

    One of my favorite games on the PSP, i would like to play it on vita :(. But now the review. This game is a good silent hill, nice monster concept, the bosses impressed me, the new breakable weapons are a little boring but it is realistic. This is one of the games that i can replay and replay and i don't get tired of it. Good job on this one Konami, way better than Homecoming.

    En general me gustó bastante, buena variedad de armamento tanto de fuego como cuerpo a cuerpo, la exploración externa estuvo igual de buena, escenarios que al principio me hicieron creer que no sería un juego tan largo, pero se me hizo más largo que SH 2 y 3, los puzzles no se me hicieron tan difíciles aunque el puzzle final del    Acabo de completar Silent Hill Origins por primera vez.

    En general me gustó bastante, buena variedad de armamento tanto de fuego como cuerpo a cuerpo, la exploración externa estuvo igual de buena, escenarios que al principio me hicieron creer que no sería un juego tan largo, pero se me hizo más largo que SH 2 y 3, los puzzles no se me hicieron tan difíciles aunque el puzzle final del flauros si me costó un poco atinarle. Lo único que no me gustaron fueron las peleas contra los jefes, que si bien el de la madre de Travis me pareció el mejor diseñado del juego en general, el resto no logró impresionarme, hasta se me hicieron demasiado fáciles, solo el padre de Travis me dio una buena paliza sin llegar a perder.

    Mi escenario favorito fue el Sanatorio Mental, de hecho revisaba el mapa a cada rato porque siempre me perdía.

    Luego me lo vuelvo a completar para obtener el final malo, el final ufo y desbloquear el resto de trajes y objetos.

    This is the first Silent Hill game I've played and being a big Resident Evil fan i was thirsty for some portable survival horror. I haven't finished this yet but so far it's a great game and doesn't disappoint. The graphics are probably the best on the PSP. The real time lighting and shadows are AWESOME. It's more super natural based than RE so it's definitely scary. There's one thing that I don't like which is the camera. It sucks. Some parts have a locked on view from somewhere in the room like in RE but then it switches and keeps changing the perspective which makes it difficult to tell where the hell you're going and where the hell the enemies are. Plus the controls for the character are based on the perspective of the camera and not the character (unlike RE) so when you press down to move the character down the screen, if the camera changes suddenly to behind the character, since you're pressing down he'll change direction and go back to where you walked from. This can get annoying. Apart from the camera and controls, the game is great fun and really freaky. You have to play this in the dark though because most of the time you're inside dark places so I wouldn't say this is the type of game to play on the go.… Expand

Naturally expectations were a little lower given that this is a portable game but really, the music wasn't Yamaoka's best by a long shot, the combat is actually worse than beforeHonestly, as long-time fan of the series, Origins really didn't impress me.     Lay ur fears to rest, Climax did a phenomianl job. Like everyone else i thought this game was going to be disastrous. Taking a beloved franchise like silent hill and giving it to a new developer was a very risky move, but it paid off...damn did it pay off. Climax without a doubt captured the look, the feel, the pacing, the essence, and most importantly thet creepiness of what makes silent Lay ur fears to rest, Climax did a phenomianl job. Like everyone else i thought this game was going to be disastrous. Taking a beloved franchise like silent hill and giving it to a new developer was a very risky move, but it paid off...damn did it pay off. Climax without a doubt captured the look, the feel, the pacing, the essence, and most importantly thet creepiness of what makes silent hill....well, silent hill. And the music from Akira Yamaoka is once again haunting and beautiful all at once. The ONLY negative i have towards the game is that its very short. I beat it in a little over 4 hours. But being on how very good it is, its a very minor complaint. My apologies to Cimax for doubting u guys, u did a fantastic job. Lets hope The Collective does as good a job on silent hill 5.… Expand

    Another excelent game, nice graphics and atmosphere. Make sure to play it in a dark room with your headphones on. Really scarry.

    I cant believe they actually pulled it off! Silent Hill Origins works well as an entry into the series and I can only complain that it can be too generic at time and has a story thats less involved and emotionally draining than the other games.

This is an awesome game and one to play with the lights off late at night. The melee system is very weak and could use some work and the camera angles may take away from the experience. Complaints aside this game ROCKS!!!

    An absoloutely outstanding game puts you in the shoes of an innocent truck driver, the puzzles are really interesting and seriously freaky stuff!

    This game definitely is a departure from the other games. The quality of the desgn and atmosphere is not as great as the first four games because a US team thought they could develop it. This game is pretty bad in general, bad AI, glitches, and a conflicting story that makes no sense to me, as a fan of Silent Hill 1.

The first time I saw the nurse coming to attack me I almost threw away the PSP in shock.The music and sound effects have never been better for any other game.The music was truly truly disturbing.But the most important thing i will remember about Silent Hill was its quality of puzzles.They were absolutely BRILLIANT.As subtle as they could have made them and yet solvable.Without giving away too much,to give you an example of the genius of the puzzles,my favourite puzzle was one where you have to activate a calender to get a key.The way the date was to be found was absolute brilliance on the part of the designers.It was a EUREKA moment when i realised i got the puzzle.Most puzzles in the game will have you scratching your head but you will have genuine satisfaction written all over your face when you solve them.Now being a BIG Resident Evil fan i didn't think this title would stand up to my expectations.But it was much better than what u ever thought it would be.From most reviews i have read a common gripe was that of manually switching between worlds.Now as i haven't played any other SH game before i thought this was quite an amazing layer of puzzle solving(because lets face it,its primarily a puzzle solving game).I really enjoyed the fact that you could shift between worlds and use both worlds to progress in the game.So in short one of the best games i have played on any console in a while.Now the complaints.The most common one...the camera.The cinematic camera was clearly a bad idea when u dont have a strong camera control mechanism and especially when the enemies are invisible to you and you cant adjust the camera to face them is really,REALLY frustrating.The combat itself was weak and flat.It was kind of funny to see a truck driver killing the devil incarnate with his fists(yes thats how i did it).The guns in the game didn't seem to have any depth to them.The melee weapons didn't seem to differ to much from each other.And combat as such was flawed due to poor camera control.Also the inventory system HAS to be improved(as it has to be done with all survival horror games).Inspite of these problems,SH is an incredibly addictive,albeit short,game that grips you like a fever from the word go.This could very easily be the flagship for horror titles on the PSP.Go for it definitely.A thumbs up.… Expand

My only complaints are the cut-scenes, which are poorly done and obvious, the breakable weapons (I doubt a meat cleaver is going to break), and the final boss (looks a little stupid, like the I enjoyed most everything about this game.     It's an impressive PSP game. Origins stays true to the essence and mechanics of the series that were established by Team Silent. There are some new twists in the form of degradable weapons and the ability to jump back and forth between the Otherworld sections of the game by way of mirrors, but for the most part this is Silent Hill as you would remember it. There are some new twists in the form of degradable weapons and the ability to jump back and forth between the Otherworld sections of the game by way of mirrors, but for the most part this is Silent Hill as you would remember it. Provided you started with the PS1/PS2 entries that is. The latter of the two new changes mentioned has to do with the setting. In Origins we witness the birth of Silent Hill into the demonic ghost town we know it as from the previous games. It's a novel idea and fits in well. The way it's used to give you access to new areas at regular intervals made exploration and puzzle-solving more fun than ever for me.

    Where Origins notably stumbles is in it's storytelling (the plot holes in this thing...). The more personal side of Travis Grady's trek through hell is pretty well done. The actual origin story itself doesn't really tell us anything new and there are noticeable gaps that make it feel unfinished in a few areas. Grady's motivations for exploring the town are called into question very early on, characters act irrationally, and none of it is helped by the bad voice acting.

    The game doesn't have much of a unique identity either. It wants so badly to be Silent Hill 2. Several enemies were straight up borrowed from it and the ones that aren't are still psycho-sexualized. There's even an incredibly unsubtle Pyramid Head rip-off. There is some other symbolism going on in the form of repressed rage, but for the most part it's about Grady's sex life (or lack thereof) and it's a little too familiar in some ways. I mean, there's an enemy that straight up straddles you for crying out loud.

    So Origins has some weaknesses with storytelling and originality. It needed better writing and more of it's own unique identity. Yet, from a gameplay standpoint it's still solid enough for me to consider it a welcome addition to the Silent Hill canon. There are some great puzzles and you get to explore some new locales never before seen in a SH game. Despite the jump to handheld, this entry in the series is still worth playing for fans and horror junkies alike.    … Expand

    after 15 years of its release date i finally got myself to play the game ... I am a huge SH fan and while this one is nowhere as good as the trilogy, it is at least very faithful to the original games that were developed by team silent.
    Positives:
    + It nails the horror atmosphere ... it is actually scary to play at night with headphones. + some fun puzzles. Negative: - weak story    after 15 years of its release date i finally got myself to play the game ... I am a huge SH fan and while this one is nowhere as good as the trilogy, it is at least very faithful to the original games that were developed by team silent.

    I would like to push this user score above 8. I am a rather big fan of Silent Hill and I can say that I am also a fan of the PSP. I think this entry was great in the series, Akira Yamaoka not only gave a great performance inducing the same nostalgic feelings from the first 2 entries in the series but also the gameplay managed to bring the same. I am glad that this entry was the most wellI would like to push this user score above 8. I am a rather big fan of Silent Hill and I can say that I am also a fan of the PSP. Some may say that the story was not on par to (1 or 2) or they did not like Travis as much as James from SH2 (This is a guess as i have not fully read others opinions only the overall scores), I would say that due to the atmosphere alone, this game deserves to be played and is put up there with the Horror greats. Many have tried to make horror games but they only rely on jump scares or gore. Since we may not ever get a game like this again, you should respect this game and definitely give it a shot. Put your headphones on, lights off and you are sure to be engrossed.… Expand

It was a bit shorter than the previous titles, but very satisfactory, mostly because the puzzles in this game are tied to the story, unlike in the Japanese games where puzzles only exist for the sake of extending the game artificially.Silent Hill: Ørigins lives up to its name. It was a bit shorter than the previous titles, but very satisfactory, mostly because the puzzles in this game are tied to the story, unlike in the Japanese games where puzzles only exist for the sake of extending the game artificially. Graphics are good and loading times almost null. My complaints are on the weird camera (that glitches and does not change its angle sometimes), the scarcity of save points in/between some areas. Also, it lacks a bit in the survival department, since it was... easy. At the end of the game I still had a lot of ammunition and healing items to spare. Of course, I explored every nook and cranny of the map, but that was an obligation in the games made by Team Silent, not something to be rewarded for. There are some flaws to be rectified but, overall, I think the studio took the right direction.… Expand

    This game is probably my worst silent hill game it has several vulnerabilities the melee weapons first they are so weak that they break after 3 or 4 hits I mean seriously WHAT THE HELL this is the worst are they made of plastic or something? The second worst thing is about the guns, the quantity is rare and the bullets are very rare.
    My last thing is the story itself.. Not professionally done it's pointless to see the things before Harry Mason silent hill shattered memories took the part of the backstpry of Harry Mason well but another game? This game didn't even have a medium amount of puzzles like the first silent hill games    … Expand

A pesar de no estar hecho por Team Silent, lo han sabido hacer fenomenal, tanto banda sonora, diseño, jugabilidad, me encantaría un remakePara mí, uno de los mejores Silent hill de la historia, ha sido sin duda el juego que más me ha llegado a transmitir una sensación increíble, me ha transmitido ese mal rollo, me ha llegado a absorber de una manera que ningún otro juego lo ha conseguido.     El primer SH que no fue hecho por el Team Silent.... uno esperaría el fracaso total pero no a pesar de haber cambiado de estudio el equipo de Climax realizo un excelente trabajo con este juego sin perder esa esencia del juego es esencia que nos hace sentir temor al jugar, obvio dentro de su historia implemento unas funciones nunca vistas en los juegos anteriores pero no desagradan, quizáEl primer SH que no fue hecho por el Team Silent.... uno esperaría el fracaso total pero no a pesar de haber cambiado de estudio el equipo de Climax realizo un excelente trabajo con este juego sin perder esa esencia del juego es esencia que nos hace sentir temor al jugar, obvio dentro de su historia implemento unas funciones nunca vistas en los juegos anteriores pero no desagradan, quizá para mi el único punto malo que le doy es su jugabilidad es algo brusca y tosca, como si el personaje fuera muy pesado.     One of the best games for PSP, I just had some issues with the camera, but is not a big deal. This game has a lot of good things such as, terrifying ambiance, terrifying enemies, great story, terrifying music, interesting puzzles, good controls, very good graphics, and great variety of weapons to survive the horrifying town of Silent Hill. Great game and for me this game deserves a 10/10.

    I played for the story and the scares and I got the scares. That's it. I must say I enjoyed collecting the costumes, endings, and weapons.

    Origins is one of the first horror games I played. I especially liked the plot, namely the topics that it touches on, the atmosphere and the soundtrack.

    What the hell was this. I don't even know what to call this. It's Silent Hill, but is it Silent Hill? I dunno I wanted a review for this.

    There is nothing new in this game. The combat is boring and repetitive, the plot makes no sense. The typical atmosphere of the SH franchise is there at least, but it was hard to enjoy in a portable console.
