    An extremely robust game for the handheld. Even if you didn't like the first one, there is still hope for you liking the second. The mechanics have been adjusted, story more thoroughly fleshed out, and bells and whistles a plenty in this engrossing handheld game that has about as much content as an MMORPG. It's dungeon crawler loot based gameplay with a side of armor customization andAn extremely robust game for the handheld.     Easily one of the best or the best action dungeon crawler made to date. Touting innovation after innovation, Sega nails it! From a previously well established character generators to well defined combat system that is deep but accessible to new players. The pace of the game is fluid with enemies keeping the player on their toes and deeply interested with such well implemented features likeEasily one of the best or the best action dungeon crawler made to date. The pace of the game is fluid with enemies keeping the player on their toes and deeply interested with such well implemented features like blocks, rolls and counters. The game is already doing what many of us have always wanted as kids and is delivering features that even colossal games like Diablo 3 will not have. Being able to go into first person and targeting enemy weak spots or doing a timed 5 hit combo with customized weapon to your liking are only things that will be seen in this dungeon crawler.

    The multi-player is great and offers new modes of game-play like "VS" mode. Sega has gone out of their way to make playing worth other members easy and with great thought out user preference system, it really takes teaming up or meeting with players to a whole new level.

    Design and sound wise it is AAA, with well designed areas and bosses the game sure shows a great level of polish and easily one of the must have portables of all time.

    Sega really listened to its fan-base and fixed all the old issues the previous version suffered from and is on its way to push the dungeon crawler once again.

    This is now one of my favorite games on PSP now. I cant put it down and my hands hurt from the constant play on the PSP. (I wish these handhelds were a little more ergo.) It took me back to the Dreamcast days of playing PSO online but actually plays better. I never picked up the 1st PSO portable due to the lack of the online component and I was not too into the PSO Universe although IThis is now one of my favorite games on PSP now. I cant put it down and my hands hurt from the constant play on the PSP. (I wish these handhelds were a little more ergo.)     I'll just put this is as simple as possible, if you played the PS2 version and the first in the portable series and you didn't like it... don't even bother.     o jogo é realmente muito bom, os gráficos são impressionantes para um portátil e acabam agradando a todos os fans da franquia e de JRPG's, um ótimo remake que eu ousaria dizer ser melhor que o jogo original, merece 10,0 e a SEGA está de parabéns,

Though it's not a full fledge MMORPG, it is as close as you will get on the handheld. The gameplay itself is nothing spectacular, but its very enjoyable for what it is.     As close as you will be able to get to having an MMO on your PSP. The amount of effort and care that went into to detailing the little things found in this game is noticeable. While the story mode is OK to get you going, to get the most out of this game your going to definitely need access to the internet to play online or a couple of buddies with the game.     Probably one of the funniest games on the psp and after playing the first I was so surprised to have a really good upgrade and not just a simple remodel of the first one (for the most part...). First of all: WoW, this game is massively huge (in both gameplay and content): there are lots stages and missions, a lot of weapons, a lot of customization for your character and 4 classes to choose (hunter, ranger, force and vanguard); you're gonna lose a lot of time on powering yourself up and switching classes. Second: the first one lacked multiplayer because it was only ad-hoc and since I hadn't peeps to play with i just playedby myself: the sequel has online too (yes!) and even though it's nothing great it's still good to play it and chat with other players. And third: some changes were made: the combat system is a lot flexible (you do more damage as the chain is higher), which is actually a good thing and helps on some hard fights; the 4 classes (less than the previous) are a lot more balanced and can be customized to the player's desires (higher hp, better attack, etc); depending on the race, you have a fixed amount of PP, which is basically your "magic points" (instead of having weapons with fixed amount of PP), the skills (or discs) don't upgrade now by using them repeatedly but by buying new ones. Few things though made me feel sad: there's basically no voice acting in most of the dialogues (except cutscenes); the story isn't bad but it's just there...to be there, since your character doesn't talk and it's not even seen in the cutscenes; game can be sometimes very hard and cheap (some bosses stun you then kill you right after: niiice...) and the controls, even though they are the same as the previous game, are still annoying to master. Bottom line, a great and funny game, lots of things to do, very fun battles and in general a bigger game than the original: get it and enjoy it!… Expand

    Erm.. a bit of a mixed bag but overall uses the hardware incredibly well with an outstanding story mode and online play almost rivalling that of Phantasy Star Universe. My only real criticism is the relative lack of development of the raw gameplay and levels in Phantasy Star titles since Online in 2001, as the structure of the levels remains largely the same (room to room, door to door,Erm.. a bit of a mixed bag but overall uses the hardware incredibly well with an outstanding story mode and online play almost rivalling that of Phantasy Star Universe. My only real criticism is the relative lack of development of the raw gameplay and levels in Phantasy Star titles since Online in 2001, as the structure of the levels remains largely the same (room to room, door to door, fair predictable). However, a spectacular achievement on only a portable console and a very worthy addition to the series!… Expand

    An absolutely wonderful and in-depth RPG with enjoyable battles, loads of character customization, and a decent story. The games sports reasonably good graphics for the PSP, and doesn't suffer from load issues, particularly with Install Data, or a Digital Copy of the game. The game does have two slight flaws though. the first is the voice acting, which, all in all, is pretty good, with oneAn absolutely wonderful and in-depth RPG with enjoyable battles, loads of character customization, and a decent story. This wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that the voice in question belongs to the main heroine. The other flaw the game experiences is a veeeery steep level grind towards the later levels, and beating Hard Mode may be an inconceivable goal for those not devoted to the game and franchise. That said, the combat is enjoyable, with some fresh twists to the "Universe" series somewhat stale gameplay. There are many new outfits, mods, weapons, missions, enemies, and players of PSO will enjoy returning to some classic locales, such as the Forest and Mountain areas of PSO. Sega fans will not be left out either, with several items referencing popular works such as Sonic the Hedgehog, NiGHTS, and Valkyria Chronicles. All in all, a great buy for a PSP owner, and a must buy for fans of the PS series, and SEGA in general.… Expand

    Probably the second best game I've ever played, amazingly good gameplay and muiti-player features. The only setback is the hackers that infiltrated the servers and spread like disease.

    Cons: Horrible predictable story. Hateful main heroin. Repetitive gameplay.
    Pros: Entertaining. Variety of weapons. Grinding material.

    While it sounds a little bit borish, it is fun to play it.

    Simply put, if you're not a fan of the genre, then Phantasy Star Portable 2 isn't for you. If you have been a fan for this long, then the good news is that there's more missions and loot for you to spend the next few weeks collecting, as well as a fully online multiplayer that's both functional as well as free. Whether you'll find an audience of fellow PSP players connected at the same time, however, is almost as uncertain as the universe itself.
