ChrisG.Apr 18, 2008Fantastic story, weak gameplay... that about sums up Crisis Core. If you are of fan of FFVII do yourself a favor and play this and I can promise you will enjoy the story; it is just too bad you have to play some incredibly repetitive game play to do so. If I had the option to only watch the story I would have done so and saved myself a lot of time.

PhaetonH.Sep 13, 2007The game just doesn't cut it. In game videos are great, the story is ok, but the game system isn't all that great. You might have been expecting something more from this game that it actually got to be. Just being a fan of the original i put up 7. Been on it for three days now.

Sep 2, 2018I thought this game was low-key mediocre however the story is what compelled me to play this game.
-
Jul 17, 2021Incredible, just as good as FFVII, with a great battle mechanic, plot and soundtrack.
-
Jan 30, 2023The story is 10/10, but the Gameplay and the skill roulette lose the desire to play a lot

SonnorcteerMar 7, 2009This is the most awesome handheld game i have ever played ever, probs even with Patapon. This game is incredibly addictive and everything about it is awesome. can't see what people don't like about the story. the battle system is great and the end emotional. Amazing, beats Gods of War easily in my opinion, no conest.

Jan 20, 2012I like Zack Fair. It has great graphics and gameplay. Controls are very smooth. I often laugh about Zack's crushes in the game. Aerith and Tifa were so young and beautiful back then.

Dec 25, 2013Fighting system is very addictive. Amazing soundtrack with brilliant guitar pieces. Story provides some good sections but mostly it's unfocused and questionable.
-
SpikenonameOct 8, 2008This is the best handheld game i have ever seen and played!!! it had me hooked the minute i seen how the battle system would play and with how the graphics never failed to show emotion!

Nov 9, 2011a bland spinoff of an epic experience.
the game boasts greatness, but the gameplay itself is it's downfall
if you are expecting the epic plot, and emotional hurdles that the original final fantasy 7 threw at you, you are goign to be soorly dissapointed -

Jun 29, 2011The most boring game of Square-Enix in PSP.
I'm disappointed.
The battles are horrible.
The graphics are the best of the game, the rest...without words -

DP.May 19, 2008The graphics are gorgeous. The gameplay - not so much. From annoying controls, a camera that gets stuck on walls, to literally random advancement via a game mechanism that steals control during combat, the gameplay just isn't up to par. It could have been so much better.

Aug 7, 2013best psp game hands down from graphics to gambling system to shinra misions that were appealing for that game beacuse zack is from soldier 9 out of 10
-
BrandonF.Sep 2, 2008I feel like a lot of the "professional" critics have undervalued Crisis Core. If Crisis Core isn't deserving of at least a 9 out of ten, then tell me what game on the psp is? God of War? Please... There are so many worthless and mind-numbingly boring games for psp that Crisis Core needs to be celebrated. The only thinking lacking from Crisis Core is that the game eventually ends.

MarcH.Mar 25, 2008Meh its not all that great and its stupid the fact that everyone thinks it should get this about average rating all because it says final fantasy VII on the box its pathetic and the game is mediocre.

Dec 24, 2017Perhaps one of the best FF, and not only among portable games. Interesting plot and characters, the combat system and excellent for PSP graphics.
-
Nov 20, 2019There is not much content to this game. It's just a lot of padding and maybe 10 hours of gameplay at the max.

BoomtownAgain, it’s nice to see the duality of the FFVII games, (it is Zack that falls into Aerith’s church this time), and a genuine attempt to develop the universe so many of us love, but simplifying the battle system, story and general style of discovery and transport leaves Crisis Core being a welcome spin off, but no replacement for a real sequel.
-
Whether you’re a Sephiroth obsessive, or whether you couldn’t tell your Aerith from your Angeal, Crisis Core is an excellent action RPG, and it’s certainly among the best the PSP has to offer.
-
Crisis Core has an addictive quality about it because you really need to know what happens next, and you’ll most certainly want to see the next glorious cutscene.
