Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is a fun hack and slash game.
Includes an excellent story. fun combat, and lovable characters.

The camera has a bit of problems, but other than that this game is truly worh its price.

Tons of characters, each with their own unique mini story mode and 3 elaborate story mode centered around the 3 school. Lots cosmetic content to unlock, and none, as far as I know, are dlc. Mechanics are simple, ala Dynasty Warriors style beat-em-up, but addictive nonetheless. Also it has cute girls doing cute things, and that is really what matters the most.

The storyline is also very entertaining as each of the characters are funny and full of personality as there are 20 character stories and 4 school stories which fills the game with hours of content including an excellent online multiplayer. The only problem is the boss fights as almost every single boss is a minion fight plus a boss and it gets very annoying especially bear enemies combined with a boss. Overall Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is a fun and enjoyable experience and I recommend this title to anyone looking for a great time. Expand

Honestly one of the dullest brawlers I have ever played. If not for the extreme fanservice, there would be literally nothing of note about this. (and even then, all the really cool costumes are DLC) The game truly shines during 1-on-1 shinobi battles, but fights against trash mobs are heinously boring and will often go on far too long.

I even had it glitch on me once where it went underneath the ground. That was weird. But still, it's serviceable beyond that.

All I can attest to is the Japanese version, so I'm sure some worded scenes are very different from their Western counterparts.

First: Breasts. And lots of them. This game is chalk full of girls getting pissed at one another and tearing each other's clothes off in a most 'bouncy' fashion. The ridiculous fun that comes with slashing off your opponent's clothing and exposing their bare breasts (with cute face chibis to cover 'em up) always brings a strange smile to my face. Why is it so fun? Probably because I'm a man.

Second: Gameplay is a blast. Go about slashing and hacking your way to victory is always a sure way to get someone to play the game. Specials, super meters, powerups, level ups, and beat 'em ups bring this title as King, or *ahem* Queen of the bouncing breast genra. DOA, eat your heart out.

Third: Dress up. Oh gosh. The things you can do while their dressing is pretty lewd. Needless to say, do this while no one is watching you. Bunny outfits, school uniforms, 'barely there' armour, panties, accessories and more enable you to spend oodles of time doting on your favorite girls. Protip: it's funny to give the small chested ones the clothing geared for big breasts.

Fourth: The story is a continuation of previous SK games, I have no idea if this has changed in the Western version or not, but I can tell you that the Japanese version has it's fair share of seriousness, lewdness and hilariousness.

Fifth: There are lots of breasts in this game. Like, a lot, a lot. There is so many pairs to choose from, it's almost overwhelming.

The Cons: The game can become repetitive past a certain point, and the multiplayer seemed dead as far as I could tell (again, it may differ in Western versions). The clipping on certain costumes can be irritating at times, and there is no real option to color things how you want.

Disclaimer: Senran Kagura: Shinovi versus is a game meant to be taken as a massive joke and not to be confused with how you're supposed to treat women in real life. These are computer generated girls, and last I checked, you can't pay them to have sex with you in the front seat of a car, run them over, and take your money back. So if you have a problem with the bouncy curves of anime women then this game is not for you.

If you love the aesthetic, this is a 9. The only things keeping it away from a perfect score are performance issues (sporadic slight framerate drop, and long loading times).
If you don't mind it, count it as a 7,5. Enjoyable characters, a load of content, and a good combat system will surely keep you hooked for a lot of hours.
If you hate it, it'll be a 6. You MIGHT just want to try it

Senran Kagura is a content-filled hack 'n' slash game with an immense amount of fanservice. Much has been said on this game already, so I'll simply explain why I gave the score I did.
Shinovi Versus can be broken down in a couple of aspects, that will decide to what extent you will like this game or not.
Easiest to notice is its sexy anime esthetic, which may be either a dealbreaker or -maker, depending on your own preference. If you don't like scantily clad females, don't play this. If you don't mind them, read on and you might like what you read. If you love it, I wonder why you haven't gotten this game yet. Seriously. There are a ton of customization options, and there is a touch-em-up system that allows you to lift skirts, either with your finger or by blowing into the microphone (no kidding), jiggle breasts, and strip down your character to their lingerie.
It has a huge story, broken up into 4 schools, with each 5 chapters, that in turn consist of 5 missions, leaving you with a 100 main story missions, all accompanied by largely voice-acted visual novel style story sequences. Moreover, every character (5 per school plus 2 dlc characters) has its own (generally much more lighthearted than the main story) 5 mission story. 100 main story missions + (4 schools x 5 characters x 5 missions + 2 DLC x 5 missions) = 230 missions, if I am not mistaken.
If you like the characters, enjoy the writing (which is surprisingly good for a fanservice-game), then you will have A LOT of stuff to do.
The characters themselves are generally enjoyable, most of which can be put into one or another anime-cliché, but tend to show to be much more than just that (although some others may be stuck in one). I personally would have preferred a couple more less large-chested characters, but hey, I am not going to complain about boobs.
The combat is awesome. You might hate the aestethics, but this is a good combat system. You'll quickly find yourself doing 100-hit combos with cancels, aerial raves and whatnot. It's easy to learn, but I must admit that the higher level missions can be pretty tough.
The system, performance-wise, is a bit lacking. Sometimes there is a slight framerate drop (nothing that made it impossible to play for me), and loading times are longer than the average vita game has gotten you used to.

The sudden shift to full 3D gameplay is not without problems : you have to re-learn everything. Bosses are now super agressive and won’t hesitate to chain long combos immediately followed by their 秘伝忍法 (special ninpo), to the extend that it is at times difficult to stand back up. It is therefore crucial to master guard and parry, but the latter is not as efficient as it is in Metal Gear Rising for example. Because of that, the best option is often to run away and engage the enemy from a distance. Ditto for the lock which has you touch the target on the touchscreen, because you can hardly free one hand to do so. Finally and much like MGR, the action is fast and camera has a hard time following. In short, a more nervous gameplay with diminished precision.

It’s just too bad the difficulty settings should keep being so poor. The first Senran Kagura was quite easy to beat, while Senran Kagura Burst was an interesting challenge during chapter 5. Shinobi Versus is again fairly easy, and for a rather stupid reason : you gain XP too fast. The good news is that there is now a difficult mode, but it’s so fu** hard that it requires a long time grinding. The game lacks something in-between that would have allowed the player to experience the main story better. Let’s also point out that EVERY mission includes a boss fight.

The devs went wild on the ecchi side of things in this epsiode. Adding to kinky touchscreen options in the changing room (which actually remains the most exquisite I’ve seen on the platform) , outfits now have up to six levels of tearing, which may lead to nudity (with blurry effect on sensitive parts).

Shinobi Versus illustrates the difference in power between Vita and 3DS : it has far nicer graphics and superior animation. Cel-shading is a perfect and it’s a real pleasure for your eyes. 奥義 (special attacks) are splendid and classy, I definitely can’t have enough of it. On the other hand, shadows are very poor and the game slows time to time. That said, the 3DS versions that were pretty advanced for the system look like a rough sketch next to Shinobi Versus (while still being nice games overall). Musics are discreet, but some of them are inspired. In terms of pure content, this Vita iteration adds 2 ninja schools, 10 characters which makes 22 with returning ones, new game modes, trophies and countless outfits & accesories. Consider that Shinobi Versus is roughly 4 times as rich as the first Senran Kagura.

The story keeps the balance between serious themes and (very) basic japanese humor. As it was the case before, the various stories are of unequal interest but some do entertain. The destiny of certains characters draws you in the story, and this newest game tells more about events that occured in the previous stories (you come to know what a «Kagura» is, for example). It won’t matters for most people though, because the level of Japanese required is atrociously high. You see words that hardly appear outside of Japanese libraries (edit : that is no more a problem now!).

Senran Kagura Shinobi Versus truly is the ultimate version we hoped for. Boosted by the power of the PSVita, it is far richer and polished than the 3DS ones. You nevertheless have to hold some interest for kinky games to disregard the drawbacks in gameplay.

The fighting itself is fun and not as simple as you may think. You use two buttons to attack, a dash and a jump. You could just stick to hitting square all day long but it pays to do launchers, charged moves, and aerial raves. You can also transform in two different ways, you can do a Shinobi transformation which grants new combos, super attacks and more power (it can also refill your life) and you can also go frantic, which is you tearing off your clothes going down to your underwear giving you unlimited combos and high power with the tradeoff of low defense. There's also a parry system which I've had little success with, but it is pretty chaotic in the game and it's hard to time the parry. I'd say the actual one on one fights vs a boss is the best part, they can be very challenging and you have to change up your strategies in order to come out the victor. Of course the main goal in each fight is to strip down your opponent, even getting them totally naked. It's not required to do but it seems to be what the developers had in mind as your end goal.
Though it's fun to battle, it can become boring when fighting hoards of enemies for extended periods of time, and the camera is possible the biggest fight you'll have in the entire game. I also wish that combo lengths and stripping your opponent gained you more money and XP at the end of each battle, as is it seems that getting a grade of "A" is done by beating the level as quick as you can taking as little damage as possible. There really isn't much incentive to do the big combos or strip your opponent other than because it's there to do it.
As a game on the go it's perfect, this is meant to be played in short bursts, a couple missions each sitting. I think for that it's very successful, extended play times just highlight the problems.
If you're not easily offended (or easily embarrassed if you play it in public) this game is a lot of fun, but just go in expecting fun fights with a ton of fan service.

2 good thing about this game is good graphic animation and good story ( at least make sense in Senran Kagura world )

8 bad thing is as follow ( most about combat )
    1. Your character always thrown off or spin like an idiot after being attack by enemies. Yup...nice...
    2. Your attack range is so short than AI enemies attack range. Yup, SO SHORT. SO CLOSE TO BEING USELESS.
    3. Unable to create different attack skill since u need to use 2 button ONLY instead like blazblue, Street Fighter or Tekken where you can input directional to trigger attack command as well.
    4. Aerial Rave is complete useless since AI able to recover quickly. Fix this problem!!! Urghh!!!
    5. Camera while battle is horrible. It's like having people close your eye while playing tetris or counter-strike when you character cornered to the wall.
    6. Command input while battle is stupid. This is a fighting game, u need to put combo but the lack of attention the programmer of this game really shine when I cannot execute combo as i wanted to since my character taking a beating. I need to have my character stand still uninterrupted then I can put combo to attack the enemies that actually quickly recover and make your life miserable again and again and again.
    7. Rin n Daidouji as DLC need to be pay. Seriously? Are you that desperate in getting people money? Why not as unlockable character if your have grade A for every battle in each chapter? What the point of having grade? This is stupidity.
    8. Set clothes. Fix this **** I want to give different top to katsuragi, why i can only give her below?

I love all the character in the game. They have personality. The drawing are cute and gorgeous. Don't mention sexy part since there are other game that show more than this game. The game really disappoint me the most when I cannot win in last battle mode against Homura or Asuka. Too much advantage given to AI. The game are no longer fun to play. The battle is horrible. I spend 2 Week playing this game and that's it. No point playing the game again when u know there's nothing left to explore except pain, hatred, and pure frustration. Take a look of this review I write. It's long. That just how much I care about the game and the franchise ( Story about Senran Kagura ). I have more fun look at Senran Kagura Still image drawn by Yaegashi Nan. Bottom line is The prgrammer of this game is lazy. The company only care about money and I need to find money to fix my PS VITA. The end.

As a sequel to Burst, it's a great story expansion. Gameplaywise, there is much more liberty, being a 3D brawler and not a simple side-scrolling hack n slash. That said, the camera is a bit wonky, but it's still a lot fun. The challenge in this game has been upped significantly as well, which makes for a more challenging experience overall.

ok, I buy this for the fan service, but at the end, the game is really fun, you have here a hyrule warriors type of game, lot of characters with their own story, also you have different ways to play and to watch the girls.

Combos, lot of enemies, and a complex level to beat but easy to control it. A must have for the PS Vita if you like this type of games, but if you don't like tons of

The Playstation Lifestyle review should be completely disregarded. It's heavily biased against the game and the very first line alone is racist towards Japanese people. The reviewer does not like this kind of genre and they gave it a low rating because of it. There really is a good game here it just happens to have light fanservice too. There really is a good game here it just happens to have light fanservice too. All of the fanservice is tongue-in-cheek, it's not meant to be taken seriously, it's supposed to be funny. The fanservice isn't even that shocking and nothing about it should be seen as offensive-- more than likely you'll start skipping those scenes just because you want to get back into the action as well as the really well written story. There really is a heart behind all that cleavage, you just have to allow yourself to relax and have fun. Expand

An awesome hack and slash game with an all female cast. Also check each characters background story they are way more compelling than most other stories there ever made. Also the girls are so sexy!

Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus is a fun and uncomplicated game that focuses on fanservice and mature (or maybe teenage-y?) humor, but its gameplay is a bit lacking.

Shinovi Versus tells the story of 5 young girls who study and train in a secret ninja school and fight against other young girls from rival secret ninja schools in modern day Japan. Each of the 20+ playable girls in the game

Each of the 20+ playable girls in the game are decent enough and varied characters with their own story arcs. There is plenty of laughters in those girly stories.

At its core it's a musou type of game (smaller scale Dynasty Warriors). You control a girl and have to defeat tens of AI bots and another girl in a boss fight to end each level. During fights you slash away the opponent's clothes and reveal their underwears, and the fight's over when a girl's been stripped naked (but censored) in a comically pervy-style, Mortal Kombat-esque finishing move. You can also buff yourself by making your girl strip her clothes off on her own, but losing all your clothes ends the game. There is also the dressing room, where you customise the clothes of a girl, see them in panties and "touch" them via the Vita's touch-screen. Boobies included. All this is meant as pervy humor. There is no nudity whatsoever in this game, which is targeted at mature players anyway. Some people and critics deride the series for its perviness and about how it sexualises young women, but don't listen to these hypocrites. Just enjoy the game for what it is and nothing more.

The downside is that the battle system is shallow and fights can get boring. You need no skill to progress through the game (maybe except for the last battle). Just mash your way through the game and you are OK. But it can get repetitive after you finish 1 or 2 out of the 5 storylines, because all you do is fight bots, defeat bosses, watch some digital novel-style scenes full of text (no animated cut-scenes), buy/wear clothes in the dressing room, and repeat.

All in all, Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus is a fun little game, with no complexities. It's perfect for those looking for a change of pace after playing tons of heavy AAA games like Battlefield, Dark Souls or GTA. I enjoyed it myself, and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially Vita owners. Just don't expect it to be the next big thing.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus is hard to review, it works if that is what are you're looking for(or at least it worked for me), but fails to impose a story that isn't bad at all but contradicts a little with the game's purpose, basically fight with girls and try to destroy almost all your opponent's clothes.
If you're in the echi genre or maybe you're looking for a good 3D fighting game

Como todo Hack & Slash se me hace bastante entretenido, lleva la introducción de nuevos personajes a la trama mientras vas arrasando con oleadas de enemigos y disfrutas de la buena vista.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus brought a lot of change to the series by integrating a 3D world into the experience. Many of the old problems that were previously seen in Burst are still present however, including things like repetition and performance issues.

With a great combat system, tons of customization options, some great characters and a few hundred missions to go through, Shinovi Versus is a must have for anyone who enjoys great combat - as long as they're not overly sensitive to fanservice or sex jokes.

In the end, Senran Kagura is a pretty face with a passable personality, but not quite the perfect balance to lure in people who aren’t completely enthused with the former. If the game spent a little less time pandering to its demographic while adding some variety to the gameplay, it could have gathered a few extra gamers looking for a guilty pleasure.
