Wow what a difference a "re-balancing" makes. Basically "re-balancing" here means "make it easier" but it is so much better with additional checkpoints and less difficulty. I played the original but got stuck and frustrated like most people who played the game. The DX version is a lot more enjoyable and allows you to just enjoy the cheesy 80's references and have fun plowing down someWow what a difference a "re-balancing" makes. There is supposedly new content but I didn't notice anything but I didn't go back and compare. It is a tough sell on something that maybe should have been a patch after release but for $8 as something that runs well on my Playstation TV along with a PS4 version and cross save it is worth it to me. Retro City Rampage DX knows which side of that divide it falls on, it never pretends to be more than that, and it's got enough non-stop action that it's able to pull that off with ease.

The definitive version of Retro City Rampage, Retro City Rampage DX takes everything that made the original game fun and improves upon the areas that made it not so fun. With a lot to do and so many pop culture references to spot, this is a game that deserves to be taken (yet doesn't take itself) seriously.
