This is Super Meat Boy with a few more additions added to it. The platforming physics are pretty much identical. It adds things like power ups and enemies but it is basically Super Meat Boy. Still fun but can get frustrating.

Fun mechanics and a relativity good gameplay, make this port from a iOS game a really decent addition to the good indie library of Vita, the low price, bonus levels and replay with a even hard difficult from the beginning make a jump from a shorter game to a mid-long term.

Kung Fu Rabbit provides good but not excellent gameplay. Unfortunately its ps plus release coincided with the release of Super Meat Boy and the games are very compatible in difficulty and presentation, Super Meat Boy however boasts impeccable precision that Kung Fu Rabbit just can't keep up with. This is most visible in sort movements which feel a bit slippy around edges leading to some frustrating deaths. Moreover the comparisons to Suer Meat Boy demonstrates how this game does little new and is not at the level of some of the greats preceding it.

What this game does differently to meat boy is the number of enemies that you must overcome throughout levels. Each enemy has a highlighted weak point that you can kill them at. This is a good mechanic and alters the way you platform. There are also a number of power ups to aid your journey, most are pretty needless, however one is pretty game breaking as it allows you to install any enemy you touch instantly making the game much easier. It is naturally up to the player whether to use this or not but its inclusion appears needless and aimed more at the audience of the mobile version. Where this game succeeds is in providing short and increasingly very difficult levels that are perfect on a handheld platform for short play spells. This creates a really addictive and challenging experience that is worth the time investment.

Visually the game is pretty great. You play a squareish (meatboyish) rabbit in a colourful and vibrant world that has a great oriental style. The game has real character. The colour pops on the vitas screen and really adds to the experience. Black sludge instantly kills you and the dark black colour effectively contracts to the world. This is sadly not matched by the quality of sound which is really just adequate.

Overall Kung FU Rabbit is a worthwhile experience offering great visuals with good mechanics and strong short, challenging level design. As a Playstation Plus game it was a great surprise.

Kung Fu Rabbit is essentially a more accessible version of Super Meat Boy. It utilizes the same platforming mechanics, "dark world" levels that are more challenging versions of the standard ones, and even a cube shaped protagonist. It's just not as crushingly difficult, allowing one to fully appreciate the wall-jumping action without so many fits of rage. One big difference the game has from it's obvious inspiration is that enemies have a larger presence in the levels. That game's title did promise some kung fu after all. Enemies can only be taken down by touching a certain weak spot. The way they are used to tie into some of the later platforming challenges is great. Along your way to the end of a level you can try to pick up all of the carrots in a level. They prove to be really helpful during the late game as you can use them to buy power ups that can help you get through. It's all totally optional, but the helping hand and extra challenge of grabbing them all is appreciated. The game also has a nice bit of content thanks to the bonus "secret levels" and what I guess you could call "dark world" levels that are more challenging versions of all the main levels that are necessary to be completed in order to fully beat the game.

If you've ever played Super Meat Boy and thought "Man, I like the gameplay, but darn I wish it wasn't so hard" then this is the game for you. It manages to provide a very similar platforming experience without all of the heartache, while still managing to challenge you. Heck, it might even help you get better at SMB. At the end of the day, no matter how much it borrows from that game, Kung Fu Rabbit stands on it's own as simply a great platformer for the Vita.

A 2d platfomer Kung Fu Rabbits short levels make for title suited to playing on the bus or train but the gameplay just isn't interesting or varied enough to offer any real long term appeal.

It starts out fun, then becomes boring, and finally it just becomes bad. Near the end, many levels are poorly designed, based around waiting for enemies to move. Only worth it if it's free. Otherwise, get Super Meat Boy or any other more competent platformer.

An Android platformer ported over to Vita with little aplomb. A fun diversion, but only for a while. [November 2014, p77]

Couple that with Kung Fu Rabbit's bright, visually appealing visuals and a perfectly reasonable price tag of $4.99, and you've got the recipe for a fun game.
