The Oath in Felghana stands strong as one the best Ys entries to date. Its sharp and compact game design makes just as strong of an impression with this Memoire release as it did when I first played it over a decade ago. Unfortunately, this rerelease does not bring much more to the table than a great game to new consoles. Its priorities when it comes to updating the game’s visuals are questionable at best, but thankfully far from fatal.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is an excellent remaster of an exceptional action RPG. The title delivers an interesting narrative and really fun gameplay in one of the most remarkable titles in the Ys series.

A strong entry in a sensational series, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana updates the 2010 version with faster load times, improved visual fidelity, better performance, and even voice acting for the game’s typically taciturn lead, Adol. But technical aspects aside, Felghana remains a classic action adventure that’s to taut controls, engaging action, and boss showdowns that will test your mettle.

Ys Memoires: The Oath in Felghana is a perfectly serviceable port of the PSP original to modern consoles. Offering some nice quality of life improvements and remastered audio and visuals while maintaining the essence of the original release.

Despite its drawbacks, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana manages to deliver a very fun and engaging adventure. Even with some issues arising from its age, such as slightly dated visuals and relatively simple gameplay, we have here a very enjoyable experience thanks to the fast combat and good level of challenge. It is a suggestion for fans of action RPGs, especially with that more classic feel.

This is the best version of a great game. It’s got its flaws for sure, but that doesn’t stop it from being an action-packed rollicking good time.

Sometimes, a game like Oath in Felghana is all you need. When you get home after a long day, you’re not making a five-star meal for yourself. But that doesn’t mean you don’t enjoy it. It’s something you’ve gotten so used to that it brings you comfort just to eat it. You’ve probably played hundreds of games like this before, but Oath in Felghana knows that. It’s not a groundbreaking game, but it’s not trying to be. It has all the basic ingredients you need, without any of the extra spices. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s comforting. It wants you to sit back and enjoy the experience, savouring every drop of its familiar flavour.
