Jan 6, 2025The Oath in Felghana stands strong as one the best Ys entries to date. Its sharp and compact game design makes just as strong of an impression with this Memoire release as it did when I first played it over a decade ago. Unfortunately, this rerelease does not bring much more to the table than a great game to new consoles. Its priorities when it comes to updating the game’s visuals are questionable at best, but thankfully far from fatal.

Apr 8, 2025Despite its drawbacks, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana manages to deliver a very fun and engaging adventure. Even with some issues arising from its age, such as slightly dated visuals and relatively simple gameplay, we have here a very enjoyable experience thanks to the fast combat and good level of challenge. It is a suggestion for fans of action RPGs, especially with that more classic feel.

It’s something you’ve gotten so used to that it brings you comfort just to eat it. You’ve probably played hundreds of games like this before, but Oath in Felghana knows that. It’s not a groundbreaking game, but it’s not trying to be. It has all the basic ingredients you need, without any of the extra spices. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s comforting. It wants you to sit back and enjoy the experience, savouring every drop of its familiar flavour.
