Nov 17, 2025Wheel World is a great time for people wanting a short, easy-going experience. It’s also addictive for a completionist. The small story is just fine, filled with quirky dialogue. The open world is the star, with a chill vibe clashing against the thrill of completing the races. Later races are unnecessarily frustrating but don’t stop this from being a definite recommend. Complete the Great Shift ASAP!

Jul 23, 2025Wheel World doesn’t veer off its steady, stately course that often. For most of the time it’s less interested in a story than an atmosphere, a vibe that’s lightly philosophical, a touch spiritual, and as thoughtful as it is playful. It won’t change your life the way cycling seems to do for its strongest advocates, but it might make you reflect upon it and your connection to the world around you, and if it does it’s already done more than most video games even aspire to.

Jul 23, 2025While Wheel World isn’t the PlayStation 5’s best racing game, it’s a great diversion to play in between them. Good for a weekend of whimsy and adventure, this bicycle racing game is charming enough to win over any racing game fan. Just don’t be surprised if you finish it in a single sitting, as the parts system is incredibly rewarding and really gets its hooks in you.

Jul 29, 2025A stylish open world and a great driving experience are held back only by minor niggles. If only those last two hours weren't there.

Jul 23, 2025Wheel World is a delightfully tactile indie title, and a real celebration of cycling. It feels fantastic to play and it's lovely to look at, but it's held back by a finicky finale and poor performance on PS5. We're hoping that a couple of meaningful post-release patches will address our complaints, because at its core, Wheel World is joyous.

Jul 23, 2025A quirky and offbeat open world biking RPG that works nicely until races get more taxing, at which point its mechanical limitations make it frustrating to play

Jul 23, 2025Wheel World’s greatest triumph might be how well it captures the freedom of the open road, the thrill of pedaling through a tree-lined forest path. Like a small town during a 10-year-old’s summer vacation, any path in Wheel World can become a racetrack. Any mound of dirt can be used for a bunny hop, and wooden ramps evoke the thrill of soaring through the air — and the exhilarating rush of a dangerous landing — that bike rides around the neighborhood did way back when. Except now you don’t have to worry about scrapes and bruises, just hand cramps from playing for too long.
