Jan 4, 2026Honoring the legacy of the masterpiece it dares to adapt, Terminator 2D: NO FATE is an exceptional side-scrolling shooter, as well as a great adaptation that breaks the mold of average movie-based games. Its biggest problem stems from its best qualities, however, as it ends up being too short and economical in exploring the mechanics it creates, especially by limiting the passages where we can don the Terminator's synthetic skin.

Dec 15, 2025Terminator 2D: No Fate delivers great visuals, sound, and fun gameplay, but its extremely short length undermines the experience. With multiple playthroughs possible in under two hours, the €30 price feels hard to justify, especially given the lack of gameplay variety.

Dec 20, 2025Terminator 2D: No Fate is a modern retro title that truly understands the essence of classic 2D action games, delivering pure, fast, and addictive fun without any unnecessary padding.

Dec 12, 2025Terminator 2D: No Fate is a faithful reimagining of a classic, recast as a 90s-style 2D action game. While it captures iconic moments and adapts them naturally to the genre, Bitmap Bureau also introduces original segments that add to the narrative. The team adjusts the gameplay to suit each scenario, creating an experience that effectively mirrors its cinematic counterpart. Although the runtime is short and the movement feels a little too close to games of that era, the range of options available provides plenty of incentive to revisit the game. The result is a strong package and a heartfelt ode to a bygone era.

Feb 4, 2026If Terminator 2 is one of your favorite films and you have a soft spot for early ’90s arcade titles, then Terminator 2D: No Fate is exactly what you’re looking for. The attention to detail in reimagining the movie as an arcade experience is remarkable: three distinct playable characters, run ’n gun sections, high-speed chases, and even stealth and beat ’em-up levels. Every scene is brought to life with gorgeous pixel art. It’s only a shame that, despite its variety, the gameplay remains a bit too basic in each of its different forms.

Dec 19, 2025Terminator 2D: NO FATE is an extremely faithful adaptation of Terminator 2, brought to life via incredible retro aesthetics, fun level design, and multiple play modes. Unfortunately, NO FATE is hampered by its short length and lack of difficulty, making the entire experience end far too quickly. For fans of the film, there is a lot to love here, including the fantastic Terminator 2 score and all-new compositions, but non-fans may not find themselves as enthralled by its retro charm.
-
Dec 14, 2025A mediocre homage to Contra and a terrible adaption of Terminator 2, which has nothing interesting to say about the concept of adapting movies into 2D video games.
