However, my only concern is that while the enemies have been enhanced with new abilities such as rolling, hiding, and aiming for headshots compared to the first instalment, the main characters have retained the same restricted set of moves. This creates an unbalanced gameplay experience that was absent in the first game.… Full Review »

    As a kid I always remembered Syphon Filter 2 rivaling that of the original as among the best in the series. I just played it again for the first time in over a decade, shortly after revisiting the first one just a few months ago, and...2 is not as great as I fondly remembered it being. It's the kind of sequel I'd describe as bigger and bolder, but that shift in development doesn't always make it the better game, and this is an example. It favors implementation over improvement. There's way more stealth levels, but no improvement on the actual stealth mechanics. The enemies are a lot more aggressive, now aiming for your head and shooting around corners. It's a cool idea on paper, but all it did for me this time is make it far too frustrating than it should be. Overall its still a decent game saved by a great story, but I feel the first entry has aged better.… Full Review »
