Aug 18, 2025A beautiful experience from start to finish, Sword of the Sea is one of the PS5’s best games. With its impactful imagery and responsive gameplay, Giant Squid’s third game will make you want to jump right back into New Game Plus to see everything it has to offer. Don’t overlook this exploration masterpiece.

Sep 12, 2025Sword of the Sea is a visually stunning and atmospheric game, incorporating some of the most flawless water graphics and satisfying sound effects found in games today. With a heart-warming narrative, fun snowboard-style tricking, rewards for those who love exploration, and the occasional ride on the back of a marine animal, this is an experience to be savoured.

Aug 18, 2025Sword of the Sea certainly won't have the same impact that Journey did all those years ago, but in so many ways, it feels like a direct evolution of that legendary experience. It's a beautifully smooth game, set across a series of gorgeous environments that are a joy to explore. While its more game-y elements do feel a tad forced, they're not enough to distract from what is a sumptuous adventure.

Sep 30, 2025Sword of the Sea is short but stunning, blending gorgeous visuals with smooth gameplay and artistic flair. At just three hours it flies by, but for €25, or free with PS Plus Extra, it’s a unique gem well worth diving into.
-
Aug 18, 2025Sword of the Sea moves at the pace of a magical swordsperson speeding across sand dunes on a floating blade at 170 miles per hour, and it never gives you a reason to look away.

Sep 2, 2025Sword of the Sea is a perfect game to bid farewell to the summer. From start to finish, it offers a refreshing, carefree experience. There’s nothing better than seeing what it feels like to ride a flying skateboard across the desert and most importantly, to step away from the daily grind.
-
Aug 18, 2025Somewhat unintuitively, Sword of the Sea doesn’t really play like a skateboarding game. Its trick system is too simple for that. Instead, it’s more akin to a 3D Sonic the Hedgehog game.
