I'm a gamer of some 40 years, and this is honestly one of the most moving game experiences I've had in memory. An absolute Tour de Force. The writing, the emotional resonance, the mysterious world building (reminded me of Disco Elysium), the dueling senses of both calm and dread.

It may only be 3 hours long, but its the most interesting 3 hours of video gaming I've played in maybe the last 10 years. Ignore the idiots review bombing this, if you're looking for a unique polished gem of an experience, look no further.

Of course I wish it were longer, but for a $25 indie title, it punches far above its weight.

A powerful interactive reflection on personal and collective memory. The player takes on the role of chonicler/historian, thus witnessing and selecting what will perish and what will remain. A poetic and scenic journey. Superb writing, often funny, sad and moving. As unique and beautiful as a public lizard.

Affirming that this game is beautiful is redundant but I can't avoid it: what a marvelous visual delight! Gameplay is great, story and script are touching and heart warming. The soundtrack is simply amazing! This is a game to enjoy the ride, reflect about life and philosophize about existence. I couldn't recommend it more.

This review contains spoilers. Heavy and light, sentimental and restrained, slow and gone-too-soon, Season is an extraordinary balancing act, a masterclass in tone. The game asks a lot of the player in certain ways, and very little in other ways. It pushes several aspects of the video game medium very far, and leaves others untouched. It's a game that I will be thinking about for a long time.

In this world everything is about this WOKE thing right now, thatswhy they want to sell a game with this.WOKE, transgender/crossgender character. The game looks good, but everything else is just a cheap thing.

This beautiful game is like a sleepy podcast, plus biking, plus ASMR, plus scrapbooking, plus beautiful photography. I can’t recommend it enough for people who want a narrative game that is extremely chill.

Also, you can pet a goat.

Season: A Letter to the Future is an emotional narrative adventure that, while it may be a work of fiction, the emotions it will evoke in you are very much real. I loved my experience with it and hope more people give it a chance.

I don't write reviews unless I believe a game is worth an attaboy nor would I review bomb something just because it's not for me.

I highly recommend this game. It is by no means perfect but it's easily a high 8 to a 9 out of 10. It's an indie studio and $20 is pretty standard for a price point and a typical playthrough would also be 7-9 hours which to me is fair. $10-30, it fits right

From the start it is an emotionally deep game and for me pulled me in and made me think of my own life; the nature of memories, choices I have made which live on (good or bad) and remain forever static and yet dynamic, and the way we all keep going despite the wheel which keeps churning. Reminded me very much of Kurt Vonnegut's concept of time, how we are all experiencing many times at once and versions of ourselves simultaneously.

Controls and gameplay are very similar to Telltale games like Walking Dead, Batman, and Wolf Among Us. Actions you choose and dialogue options felt weighty. I thought about each decision even if on the surface the reactions sounded the same. I won't go into specifics for lack of spoilers, but I felt compelled to make different choices during my second playthrough.

The art direction and sound design are incredible. There were innumerous times I would stop and take in a vista or let a sound recording go on for a minute or more because of the quality of immersion. Going back to a place where I just was documenting felt natural and I did so because I didn't want to feel I missed an element of exploration and frankly the place and time felt so real and resonated with me. I just wish I found this game closer to release, so I could recommend it to more people.

I will digress for a moment now...

Any complaints about wokeness to me are laughable. Like most, if not all, attempts to invoke wokeness, are simply trying to minimize the actual content in question (cough TLOU2). That is completely in the eye of the beholder and suggests an inability to take in, process, and critique information which doesn't suit your worldview. None of the 0's provided examples or meaningful suggestions to improve... just blanket complaining without justification. Feels like most people who use woke now couldn't define it to save a loved one.

Quick background on me the reviewer, I tend to like single player games that is heavy on narrative the most. I also play a lot of racing games and use to play multiplayer games in my high school days but now that it's hard for me and my friends to find a good time to link up so now it’s more rare for me to get into a multiplayer game. Up to try any genre of games and sometimes I find something new that I didn't think I'd like. I own a PC (built by me), Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, PS3, PS4, PS5, and a Switch. I prefer Playstation due to their focus on narrative games. For scoring, I’ll be using the Gameinformer review scale and of course influenced by my personal opinions.

    (8) Very Good. Innovated, but perhaps not in the right choice for everyone. This score indicates that there are many good things to be had, but arguable so.

Game has a good message and story to tell. Great art too. It does lack in gameplay, but it is a great cozy game to play and relax too. Might get your mind thinking on some heavy subjects. Definitely not for everyone. You can probably spend a good 12 hours on this game or rush it to make it 3 hours but you'll miss out on a lot of the world.

A deeply rich sensorial journey into the question of land and identity! A beautiful experiment as well as a manifesto well written to create many exciting moments of discovery through-out the game! A rare and lasting gem for those who seek more than just a superficial ephemeral moments of joy. Highly, recommended!

We doubt that many indies more beautiful than Season will pass through our console this 2023. Season is a contemplative experience that helps to break the rhythm of modern society and serves to rest and heal the soul. It's a pity that the controls are so bad and that the game is empty of meaning and message. As if you were passing a beautiful postcard through Instagram and filling it with hashtags and pose.

Every system in SEASON seems to just be encapsulated by highs and lows. There will be something I'm really enjoying like the act of cycling, but then simultaneously an annoyance or disruption will creep in and spoil it. That is not to say there is nothing to enjoy within SEASON - quite the contrary, with the form of a great game clearly here. Aspects like the haptic feedback and active preservation excel within the game, but there is far too much clasping on the brakes to get the rhythm going, even in such a short game.

It’s difficult to put into words my experience with this game. It offered a strange peace that was, all at once, a somber experience — one full of joy, sorrow, laughter, and regret. It explores the weight and comfort of memories, the impact they have on the world, and the importance of existence. It can be meandering at times, and some of the side characters’ voice acting pulled me out of the experience. If you aren’t in the mood for this kind of game — a walking simulator vibe with an emphasis on scrapbooking, bicycling, and photography — hold off on playing it and wait until the right mood strikes. When you go in with the right mindset, this game can get under your skin in the best way. Season: A Letter To The Future isn’t a perfect game, but it is a significant one, and one that I will carry with me for a long time.
