The TRUE successor to Sim Theme Park from PS1, I am blown away by how amazing this game is. As a long fan of the genre, nothing quite hit the same level of love that I had for Sim Theme Park. Runs smooth as butter for me and looks amazing on PS5. Please don’t hesitate on buying it if you love these type of games. Expand

Planet Coaster: Console Edition is the best game I’ve played on my PS5. I bought the game on a whim and after I started playing I was instantly hooked, and haven’t wanted to play anything else. The game looks stunning on my 65 inch LG CX OLED tv: native 4K, HDR, 60 fps. I always have a smile on my face while playing. The simulation is incredibly deep and satisfying. Planet Coaster has admirable goals, that are reached in the PC version of the game. But on the PS5, the controls just feel clunky, and that's some of the only gripes I have about the game. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the customization is amazing, but the pain of turning every track piece, and smoothing it, really holds this game back.

The game completely lacks Russian localization. Can't play it. I'm sad. Why such an attitude towards the players? Add Russian subtitles and I will give you a high score

Extremely confusing and the menus are terrible to navigate. Deleted after 5 minutes.

Planet Coaster runs amazingly well on PS5. Consistently steady frame rate at 60FPS, easy to use controls with optional Mouse and Keyboard support.
Fun and rewarding career system, and literally tons of customisable items. Incredibly addictive.

This game is absolutely fantastic. As a huge rct fan this really scratches that itch - and maybe even improves on it in some ways.

I really don't understand people complaining about the controls, it's one of the better schemes for a game like this imo.

Fulfilled the nostalgia I needed from such a game. Unfortunately I believe Planet Coaster players will probably be a small niche of tycoon enthusiasts. I believe Planet Coaster could benefit from an easy difficulty for kids since the theme is overall childish, but ends up not being so compelling towards kids outside of the create mode environment.

Overall everything worked well on PS5, but I did notice some dips when my park was getting significantly big, and after I finished my parks there were so many assets on screen that the frame rate dropped to what I would recognize as mid 30's returning to 50's when zoomed in.

During my first parks to which I dedicated hours of decoration, I was using so many assets with the Create tool that my park started flickering because it couldn't handle all the assets at the same time. I believe this could be fixed either by merging the assets by linking them, but apparently even after a structure has been build the assets will still be considered independent even if grouped up.

This is the only issue I've found. I enjoyed the experience, it was a nice ride for sure.

If you're looking for the theme park successor whether from the megadrive or PS1 days, look elsewhere, this is definitely not it. It's just a poor PC port with controls that leave you wondering if the developers have ever used a playstation before in their lives.

Lets take the ghostbusters DLC coaster for example, it's slightly raised and in the tutorial you play, when you start, you realise that paths should join automatically so raised and lowered create "stairs" for the customers to go up and down. Except this doesn't work in reality in the game whether in career, sandbox or challenge outside the tutorial. Yes the "auto" path is switched on, but it doesn't work. There's shortcuts on the PC version to get past this but this is the PS5 version so... create your own coaster. Don't use blueprints, especially ones that COST you MORE real money. Don't buy the ghostbusters DLC, really not worth it.

As for rides, I can probably cover them all outside the coasters because unlike everything else such as food stalls there is a severe lack of them. The disappointment is real here. I'm surprised legally the parks you help build can get away with calling themselves a "theme park". Bar the scenery and stalls, there's not much of anything else. And there's enough food stalls of various types as well as scenery (so much so in fact).

career mode is a let down as well, after the basic tutorials you're given a pirate theme park to play with, and as you've learned you have to take the customers thoughts on how to build. except in this case they all want a gift shop. guess what you can't build right now? yep. a gift shop. Just terrible pacing, terrible ideas and a terrible implementation doesn't make a good game.

Add in terrible controls, terrible placement of rides, none of the menus are any fun or easy to get through, and they could have done so much with the controls. We've seen many games take something complicated (FF14) and make it a breeze to control. This is not it.

It runs okay on the PS5, and looks passable as a PS4 game (don't expect much in the way of looks on the PS5 version past fast loading times).

This is one game to avoid, just pretend it was never released on console. The fact they call this a "console edition" is a joke. No one took time out to ensure it was console ready. The tutorial is just a cut and paste without any real help on the console, if you're going to get this at all get the PC version. (probably cheaper as well although still comes with a host of issues that just doesn't make it a worthy stand alone game).

Or be like me, who dug out his megadrive and played theme park. I had more fun with that for an hour than i ever did with 5 hours on this... joke of a console release.

This game is literally too buggy to play on ps5. Either the back button won't work or the game crashes once you get a few things going. The game is a scam to even call it playable. Total rip off.

This was my 1st time playing a game of this type and I really enjoyed it. I found it rewarding to play through career mode and gradually get better at park creation/management. Even as some of the parks I created got very large with lots of items placed, I did not experience any lag as the game runs well on PS5. The sheer amount of tools and materials provided in Planet Coaster means you can let your creativity go wild; I've seen some really incredible theme parks that people have made. One of the crowning jewels of this game is the ability to craft your own custom roller coasters. It's not easy, as you must take into account g-force, nausea rating etc. but you can play around and test the coaster until you get it just right. There are some niggles with this game, some of the placement mechanics can be a bit jumpy and therefore sometimes frustrating (paths in particular). There are also some features that don't get explained very well in-game, so I did have to look at fan-written guides a couple of times. Overall, great game. Expand

Planet Coaster: Console Edition brings this already phenomenal game to a new audience on console. Controls are very well translated over to the controller, and the game runs smoothly on PS5 with really fast load times. It is presented in a very accessible way, but there is also an insane amount of depth for the hardcore players.

A worthy attempt at making a theme parc simulator work on consoles, Planet Coaster will keep you playing for a long time to come. At times you can get dragged down by unnecessary details, though... and the voice-acting isn’t particularly convincing.

I think the final takeaway from Planet Coaster: Console Edition is that you already know what you're getting, and what you're getting is really very good. An excellent time sink where you can meticulously craft your ultimate theme park. If management sims interest you and you haven't checked the game out before, now is a great time to pick it up. If you already have the game then there's not much that will draw you towards buying this version, simple as that.
