Labyrinth of galleria is a game that isn't shy to roll the opening credits 40 hours in and completely flip the rules on its head.

The game's narrative is at the forefront and it is the strongest aspect of it however if you aren't ready for very dark themes such as miscarriage, rape, suicide, domestic violence, abuse, and promiscuity, then it probably won't be for you, but if you look past those things you can see something truly special and heartfelt, a story of love and courage carried by two unlikely friends forced to take responsibility for a cruel world.

The gameplay portion of the game is a massive improvement over refrain. The dungeons are more difficult to navigate with more complex routes and mechanics that refrain lacked that actually feel labyrinthine in scale. The game makes a huge improvement on refrain's faucets having 24 in total with 2 respectively per faucet type and instead of having a set number of skills you can pick from they allow a flat skill point system that accounts for multiple things like soul clarity for the base number and starting faucet and current faucet discounts for skills, along with nearly triple the amount of stat growth natures from refrain with the suffix, prefix, and and, system they've added allows for very intricate puppet building compared to the relatively simple systems in refrain. They've also added some flavor past the rapport system's vague descriptions with rings that signify the puppets relations with each other such as: brother and sister, engaged, knight and squire and more.

All in all this game is something special a true successor to its previous entry in every way.

Has to be one of, if not the best, first-person dungeon crawlers to date. Exploration, map marking and control, party customization and combat has been polished to a stunning level that it actually makes other games of the genre hard to play since I'm just wishing they included certain quality of life that this game has. The coven battle system and reincarnation mechanics make it interesting to mix and match and build for the late game, and the map gives you so much info that you're never left to wonder "oh god what did I miss, do I really need to re-explore everything?!?". On top of that many of the dungeon traversal abilities are completely different than the first game, so making your way around feels fresh and intresting.

All that said, you might be wondering why just a 9/10 if the gameplay can easily be classified as 11/10 or higher. The issue is that the story is terrible. Any humor or quirkiness you expected from the first is gone, and is basically just replaced with immensely trope filled segments, with the occasional rape joke or implication that makes the story segments feel so uncomfortable as you constantly feel scared where the story is going. It's so bad that while exploring the dungeons and enjoying it, once you run out of dungeon and have to return to give a witch petition to advance the game, you kind of dread it. I won't say that certain parts aren't interesting though, as I'd argue that while confusing, the second half is more intriguing than the first. The vibes are always off and it almost never feels good to progress the story.

If the writers were completely different this game would be a masterpiece. In many ways it is, should you decide to skip all story
