Apr 13, 2026Emerging from the shadows of the Crossroads, Melinoë leads the charge for Supergiant's sequel that sits at the very top of the roguelike genre. The combat is exceptional, the visuals are divine, the story is mythical and its expansion as a sequel is first-class. Hades II safely resides in the hallowed halls of Olympus, worthy of its place amongst the immortals.

Apr 13, 2026Hades 2 is a true titan within its genre: it features a captivating story, iconic and charismatic characters, and new deities. Its combat is robust, with a wide variety of weapons and events to make each run unique. On the other hand, the enemies are not as varied, which unfortunately makes them repetitive in the long run.

Apr 14, 2026If you’re a roguelike fan, Hades II is a no-brainer. With a compelling gameplay loop, beautiful visuals and a fantastic, fully-voiced narrative to enjoy, it’s the gold standard of roguelike action games, and one that you’ll find yourself going back to time and time again. It’s been worth the wait to get the game on home consoles, and enjoying it on a big screen is undoubtedly the best way to play.

Apr 14, 2026Sing, oh, Muse, of the adventure of Melinoe and how she takes Hades 2 into a solid candidate for GOTY, with a beautiful, addictive roguelike that takes everything that made Hades great and takes it into the next level.

Apr 20, 2026A masterfully crafted roguelite, Hades II builds on its predecessor with refined combat, a compelling new protagonist, and an addictive gameplay loop that constantly rewards progression. While its narrative occasionally feels familiar, the game excels in pacing, variety, and presentation, standing out as one of the strongest entries in the genre.

Apr 13, 2026Honestly, Hades 2 is a great game. It feels wholly like a game while still maintaining a narrative for those of us who need that narrative element. It balances all of the roguelike factors in such a way that you always feel like you are progressing, even during setbacks. The premise is a blast, and so is the gameplay loop. Auto aim works well for what it is, but the lack of aiming could put you in precarious situations. All in all, Hades 2 could easily be in the running for Game of the Year, just like its predecessor was in 2020.

Apr 15, 2026Hades II is a masterpiece in every sense. A game that not only improves upon everything that made the original special, but also expands the combat and adds even more content that rewards players' dedication. With virtually flawless execution, it not only establishes itself as one of the best titles in the genre, but becomes a must-have for every video game fan.

Apr 13, 2026On the whole, Hades II delivers a truly great action roguelike experience, buoyed by strong, exciting combat. It remains addictive across multiple runs, even with poor Boon balance, keeping combat artificially elongated. This is achieved through engaging combat and a compelling story that motivates players to learn more about the characters and world. Its outstanding visuals and fun, immersive audio also make it a treat for the eyes and ears. Trudging through the depths of hell has never been more exciting, and as someone fairly new to roguelikes, I found myself pleasantly surprised at just how engaging Hades II can be.
