I am disappointed with the AI, as it seems that the other drivers are there just to annoy. They have no interest in winning the race at all. Once you create an nemesis it can follow you through the whole race, otherwise it stays in the background and doesn't even try to win.

The game is repetitive and GRID quickly turns into GRI(N)D.

All in all I'm enjoying it still and I'm about 40hrs in time wise. Looking like a 100hr Racer for the Platinum I think but I don`t mind that as the racing is fun, smooth and easy to pick up. Expand

    Bad-
The soundtrack only plays in story mode and that feels like something that needs to be patched. The "story" feels pointless and just something to market the game. The progression is a bit slow and can feel unrewarding at times.

    Thoughts-
GRID Legends will almost certainly bring a smile to the face of any fan of the series as it mostly feels like an improvement over the already great game from 2019. The sheer amount of tracks, vehicle types with their own handling to master, and customization options are enough to make it a worthy successor to its predecessor. But the bonuses of the nemesis system returning, the outstanding soundtrack, and the flexible cross-play online functionality make it a great racing game in a more macro sense, too. While it misses an opportunity to really connect with a more original story mode and fails to fully leverage some of its more unique characteristics, it still provides a rewarding and adaptable racing game that burns up the track in the areas that matter most.

But one thing has made me simply stop playing... the fact that in career mode, even after winning an event, you cannot continue to the final event in the series until you have arbitrarily clocked up enough miles in a certain car. Why? WHY??? If you want to force me to race more, just give me extra mandatory races. This is so easily accomplished in a racing game. You can even create your own races, so they should have just added more of those. But noooo... they FORCE you to replay events you've already won, or drive the car around in multiplayer, just to clock in a certain number of set miles. For no reason. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in a game. What's worse, the miles clocked in your first playthrough of an event don't even count. Nope. You HAVE to race it again, or race the car elsewhere, and only after X amount of miles, THEN you can progress to an event. It's like saying that in a platform game, you can complete a level, but have to play it again just to reach a certain number of footsteps, and only then can you play the next level. So ridiculous it makes me want to throw the game in the toilet. I got it for free. Still got ripped off. Respect our time. Every other racing game I've ever played does progression in a better way than this. Ridiculous. Expand

Classic EA tactics. Make it's own studio fail to close it and cut costs whenever possible. They did the same to Respawn when they launched Titanfall 2 the same day as Battlefield 1.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Grid is a racing game that sits somewhere in the middle between arcade and sim racing games. It has a short story mode which was good enough to entertain. The cutscenes are done by real actors and I think the people who were cast did a good job and seemed like they enjoyed themselves. There is also a career mode which is basically a single-player mode where you compete in disciplines with various types of cars. Difficulty can be tweaked to personal preferences although I found some races to be much more difficult than others, implying AI is more suited to a certain type of race. A solid game that will fly under the radar for many. Expand

Looks like a last gen PS4/X1 game visually. The controls are responsive, but not at all accurate. Cars do not respond at all like real cars and as a result there is no drama/wow factor in playing this game. A poor choice for a racing game with much better options available. Not at all recommended.

Although gran turismo is a solid game (ignoring the missteps in the beginning and management of the overall game and lack of content for casual players like me), it's career/story mode being through cafe menu books would of been so much better if they used voice actors or full cinematic actors like grid legends does.

I also think the feature of being able to rewind when you make a mistake is such a great idea, instead of your race being ruined or fall behind and having to try to catch up for the rest of the race, this feature allows you to go back several seconds and basically start before your error and allow you to correct your mistake.

As for the graphics, it's fine, nothing special. There are times though where some of the maps feel unpolished, *lights showing through map/hills, odd collisions with rails/walls, texture loading errors, these are just a few examples

Also I feel like the game starts to run out of racing maps towards the end of the story mode.
As for the driving mechanics, it's passible. I do feel like the weather elements don't really have the impact it should have. Controls are fine, although it does feel a bit less fluid compared to other racing games I have played.

I did get this game through ps plus, and then got the expansion for like $20, which provides a bunch of additional story and different type of events.

Obviously this game doesn't have the same seriousness of gran turismo or forza, but it's around the middle of the spectrum where it's casual but can be competitive yet realizes it's a game so it feels fun.

Overall, 8/10 for me, you can get this game probably for cheap now, I know it's on gamepass too. Worth it in my opinion

Yume: Tho she and the game keep saying shes better then you really she sucks she crash's a lot shes slow and she drives into you and gets in the way all the time she also does not carry the team at all even tho they say she is and is actually the one whos getting carried, shes pretty unlike able.

Ai placements: The ai placements for some races are rigged, in one race i got 2nd but the people who were showed getting first and 2nd were actually in 4th and i think 7th, there was a pretty big crash that had one fall really far behind, so unless you and Yume both finish in the top 3 then those two will always be shown as getting the top spots even if they didn't actually finish top 3 they do show up in the right order so if one was in front of the other then they'll get the higher placement, also on the topic of placements its kinda odd the game doesn't show placements after the races so you have no way to see where anyone placed or what there times were.

over all good racing game with a bad story and a always online one (not actually a always online game i just mistook it for one because i didn't know i could set it to offline but leaving this next part in) sure you can play single player but only if you're connected to the internet if it ever goes out you get kicked from the game even if you're not playing multiplayer, always online games like this are dumb and no one wants them sure if you're playing with other players and your internet goes out you're gonna get booted from the game but when you're playing alone in a single player game you shouldn't get kicked/be unable to play because you're internet went out it's so dumb. lf your game is gonna have a way to play single player then don't make it always online. Also i don't think it says the game is a always online game when you start it up so if you go into this game like me not knowing its always online and your internet drops out for whatever reason then you'll get kicked from the game without any warning and be unable to play until your internet comes back.

First off the good. It works, looks decent, runs fine and I got it from PS Plus. There is a good amount of tracks and cars. It's kind of fun just driving with reckless abandon, smashing into other cars and clipping walls.

The biggest problem this game has is the way cars feel to drive, which is a massive issue for a racing game. They don't behave at all like you expect a car to, the physics are just weird. Driving feels stiff and simple, you really need to try hard to lose control. For example you can drive a RWD car in the wet with no traction control and just floor it without any concern for wheel spin. It's like the developers didn't want you to be able to fail. So it's not realistic at all but it also doesn't deliver arcade fun. It also does not find a balance between realism and arcade thrills. It is just bland.

The story mode was thoroughly boring and I quickly started skipping cut scenes. The career mode is grindy and you get tired as one dull race bleeds into another. You can try to keep things fresh by constantly changing the type of vehicle you are racing. I found the stadium trucks to be the highlight. There is also drifting which they also somehow made kind of boring. It's like the whole game was made as safe and uninspired as possible. They didn't want to allow players to suck at it.

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to stop playing this game or grind it out some more in short bursts from time to time. It's not very good but doesn't do enough to make me hate it. I can't recommend Grid Legends unless you got it with PS Plus or are desperate for another racing game.

    5.8/10.

Graphically, the game doesn't do too poorly, although a comparison with last year's Forza Horizon 5 wouldn't make it a winner. Grid is more thrilling, can be pleasantly fresh thanks to the different types of races like elimination, and even if it doesn't use DualSense as well as Gran Turismo, it's still a solid racing game that is sure to entertain with its variety of cars, tracks, and well-handled multiplayer. Grid Legends is a distinguished racing game, specially by its story in the "documentary" style - one of the best I've seen in games of the genre - despite being cliché and leaving the player in the background. This is a great racing game. It's a shame it was "squeezed" into a season with many equally excellent games vying for attention. Going head to head against Forza Horizon 5 and Gran Turismo 7 isn't easy, but Grid Legends brings its own identity and shows that the genre has much more to offer.
