    gameplay itself is fun but overall game is terrible because of the obvious scripting. you can literally totally dominate your opponent but they still beat you much of the time. i know this happens in real soccer/football but the frequency at which it happens in this game is totally unrealistic and is honestly a joke. terrible game overall.

    No wonder FIFA is revoking this game rights to use their brand name in their games. This is not football, there are plenty of arcade football games from the 90's that are far more advanced and better as an overall game than this trash. Game is hacked and cracked and I'm talking about the live version, so many cheaters and the game doesn't give you any option to report cheaters.     After all these patches and update game is absolutely unplayable. Everygame you will be matched vs mbappe,messi,neymar and cr7. Rebounds everytime, goals on 45m everygame. I hope Ea sports CEO get cancer for xmas. Dont buy this game

Will you lose like a man with a 3:4 score or like a baby boy with 0:5 which will make you go and buy some FIFA points to open another **** pack?     Anything you do in the game is controlled in the background by algorithmic code. You might press buttons to do actions on screen, but the outcome will always be controlled by algorithms.

    Thank god FIFA have finally seen the light of day and will be branching out with other companies to make other football games, taking away the monopoly EA hold so dearly.    … Expand

    Dear EA, My word, you really know how to screw up a game after the first week of release, year on year! Hypermotion!!! What a laugh. Copy and paste from FIFA 18 to FIFA 22.

    Shambolic game play, take about 5 mins to find an opponent and when you do, guess who it is... PSG. Please trust me, do not buy this game, it is not fun at all.

    Scripted piece of **** ,it's like every other FIFA game they did with better graphics at least thanks to PS5 ,they hardly touched PS4 version but they found a way to make money off this too. I hope UFL turns out to be what they say they will be and **** these guys up since Konami and PES definitely decided to self destruct this year.

Carrier mode is stupid, AI puts my player to CF position, but my player is LW, well done EA. Playing offline is a lot worse than playing online. Anything above Pro difficulty level just makes your player stupid as wood and unresponsive. 3 secondsThank you for one more game with crap multiplayer.     I played it just because it was free with PS+. It exactly the same game than FIFA19 (last i bought) but with less content (no solo game like Alex Hunter before). Still terrible IA. Still terrible gameplay. Still same graphics. Just an update sold like a new game :)

    AI defenders constantly make mistakes and pull out of position and the passing is also very inaccurate particularly on through balls. Keeps also far too slow and getting up. Other than that it’s better than previous years.

    They managed to **** up the only good part of the fifa series: before if you played with a 3 star team, you could set up the game in auch a way, that you would only get opponents that also played with 3 star teams. Now regardless of my setting, I get opponents playing with 5 star teams. Such a garbage...

    The only good thing is that the game is slower.

    VOLTA Futsal Mode is the best soccer video game I've played since International Superstar Soccer Deluxe in 1995-1996.

    Absolutely perfect in everything, mechanics, physics and movement. I am required to give a grade of 10.

    I hate EA and even like to criticize it, but I can't be blind. The game has many flaws, but that's an epic hit.

    Its jsut fifa 21 with a few minor adjustments and very few new features. All the old bugs and glitches you have loved since fifa 18 are still here aren't going anywhere. The amount of bugs in this game would give cyberpunk a run for its money.

There's no question, that when EA touch a game, that have little to no flaws, they all of sudden turn it into a crap game. It is astonishing to me to see all of the changes that were made that make the game worse.

    Offline Modes: Career mode is still dull, with the twist of creating your own club, crest, and kit. However, you still cannot build your own stadium, which I find rather odd. You still cannot change your kit after a season, and overall the customization still lacks. Skill games are the same, still no reason for me to play them. Skill games in the past used to give points in the EA catalogue which let you have cool in game items. They were fun, and would often play them friends to compete with them. Now they aren't really that fun, and just fodder I skip past to get to the game.
    Volta: It is improved, but if you can't play online, then you're basically screwed. Still not very fun, and very frustrating to play.
    Pro Clubs: Haven't got to play this much, but from what I can tell, it's still being neglected.
    Ultimate team: Congratulations EA! You really made FUT **** again. It's truly gobsmacking to see you ruin a game mode this year. It is more than true to say that high rated players are less easy to attain. As someone who plays the game pretty consistently, and who opens packs regularly, still getting crappy players. SBC's are also almost impossible for someone like me to open, because I have to constantly sell players in my club or use them in other SBC's. The players you want are simply unattainable, and that's what separates players who have unlimited amounts of resources and time, to beat out the people who just want to play with Messi or Ronaldo in their team. It is pay to win and they know it. The more money you put into the game, the more you can benefit. But it shouldn't be like that. It should be the quality of game that you play. Rewards for playing are still dismal at best. There is no way someone can reasonably can have a good team without sending EA their work check. Instead of working on new ways to help the player be able to afford good players and craft sbcs, you guys find ways to line your own pockets.
    Gameplay: EA did it again. The end of Fifa 21 wasn't perfect , but was way better than this. Instead of working off of the last game, and making subtle improvements, EA change the entire game. At launch, keepers were insanely good. Now, since the last patch, keepers seriously can't do anything. Finishing is the worst it's ever been. Finesse shots are useless. Passes, through balls, and crosses are worse than ever. Defending is mind-numbingly bad. Scripted moments are back, and it seriously feels as if the game doesn't want you to have fun. Chemistry doesn't effect anything anymore. Don't get me started on connection issues.

    See EA, as soon as you make a product that is somewhat viable, there always has to be an end line. There always has to be something wrong. There always is another fix. Its a shame. Im very excited for UFL and new games like that so we can stop playing games that aren't worth it.

    Update: As of May 2022, I have stopped playing fifa. It is by far the worst fifa title I have ever played by far. There are no redeeming qualities to this game, and I assure you that you will go into a deep depression after playing this game. It makes you hate yourself for playing it. The rewards seem unattainable for casual players, and there isn't an end in sight. The game doesn't feel rewarding anymore. Everything is unbalanced. Nothing works as advertised. I'm done with fifa. It's over. The game I played growing up is now dead forever.    … Expand

    It’s hard to find where I stand with FIFA 22. I was a die hard FIFA fan, and bought every single game at launch until around FIFA 17. I stopped because it felt like the new gameplay mechanics were always unpolished which made them feel like they were going backwards with each year, and it felt as if the only thing EA cared about improving was FIFA Ultimate Team, for obvious reasons. IIt’s hard to find where I stand with FIFA 22. I was a die hard FIFA fan, and bought every single game at launch until around FIFA 17. I stopped because it felt like the new gameplay mechanics were always unpolished which made them feel like they were going backwards with each year, and it felt as if the only thing EA cared about improving was FIFA Ultimate Team, for obvious reasons. I missed the past two years of FIFA, and it definitely feels like all of the updates they made previously are more refined. This is a good thing, but it says a lot about the intentions of the company if it takes them 3-4 years to fix new mechanics that should have been ready to go when they first rolled out. Regardless, we are finally here. It finally feels like a smooth FIFA experience again.

    At it’s core, FIFA 22 is a solid FIFA game. It does not shine in any areas, but it’s also not overtly weak in any areas either. It feels like a game that is exactly what it is, a game that is overall very good but makes minimal progress year after year. I think the long running sports franchise is in need of a reboot, just rebuild the entire game from the ground up, because it feels way too similar to the FIFA games I played 10+ years ago. I understand this is generally how sports games are, and from a business angle it makes perfect sense, but I think we are due. The only major issue I have with the game is that it feels like the AI has become much worse. It almost feels like every player has a “zone” they operate in, and they have become more rigid with only playing in their zone. It’s far too common when I send a second defender to pursue the attacker with the ball, he kind of hovers near them and then completely stops covering them, leaving a huge open for a super clean cross. Auto switching and player pursuit has always been an issue, buts noticeably worse.

    The graphics are good, but still feel like they are from last generation. The sound design is the same as always, which I must admit has been very good for awhile now. The presentation is just about the same - minor menu changes, minor overlay changes, but it’s all the same. FIFA also needs to figure out something with the Italian league, not that I’m a fan, but they are losing teams a bit too often now.

    All in all, I enjoyed FIFA 22. It’s a solid FIFA game, if you enjoy FIFA then there is no reason you wouldn’t like this one. Objectively, I give the game an 8/10, but the series as a whole needs some changes.    … Expand

It has bugs and glitches for sure, but I haven't experienced any major ones. Haven't played career mode much yet, but changes seem to be bare bones. FUT is fun to me, mostly because I don't spend extra money and stay away from FUT Champs. Because of thisBest Fifa in a long time. Gameplay finally comes close to somewhat of an actual football simulation, hence I think the gameplay is fine. It has bugs and glitches for sure, but I haven't experienced any major ones.     Fun game play, some small improvements from the game play. I only play 'Season' and career manager mode. Hopefully Fifa improve the game by making PSG less overpowered and more realistic.

    Also, after playing during the EA Play trial period, the pay to win philosophy was in full effect or some other **** was going on because on day 1/2 of release, teams had megastars in their squads.     Same game as fifa 21, i bought the ultimate version because i played before the release of the game with the EA access. They did an update, the game is now the same racing simulator as usual. If it's your lucky turn and it works it can be enjoyable but once the generator is not on your side you will mispass majority of passes even on 5 star team, the amount of games it just would not work for me, slow to move, to pass or shoot, especially playing against PSG, you won't be able to get to them sometimes to take the ball while you won't be able to attack cause your team is not able to put 3 passes together without passing to opposition and Mbappe... he is on superman mode.
    The goalkeepers are unpredictable, sometimes they parry the ball outside, sometimes inside, other times they will lie down before the ball hits the air resulting in silly goals. Finesse shots outside the box curling in from crazy angles by the top players quite often.
    There is no balance or consistency and your skill or ability is really only 50% of the input. The rest is driven by the randomness, maybe you can see that in real live football/soccer sometimes but here it's is a little effed up.
    My condolences if you pay full price for this piece or art...
    EA sports, it's in the code should be the new slogan.

    I tested the game on ps5 and the graphic is really bad. Resolution on fifa 21 ported for ps5 is way better. The gameplay is just the same. "Hypermotion" is just marketing. The grass on Fifa 22 is horrible.

With an estimated 5.54 billion dollars in revenue in the year 2020, one would think EA would make a game that doesn't absolutely suck, but I guess thats just the EA we know and love! Thank god EA lost the exclusive rights to FIFA because now there is a chance that a real football game can actually be developed. I think if I were to keep talking about the issues in this game I could genuinely hit the 5000 character limit and still have more to say.     It is the same game every year only with smaller changes. Ea has added hypermotion to the game but i can't see the difference between fifa 22 and fifa 21. The modes are boring and the same from fifa 16.
    Fut is a "money printing" machine for ea, but they have changed the colour of the menus.

    Random bouncy balls are back. Defenders get repelled whenever someone performs a rainbow flick. You can be winning 3-0 comfortably but then the AI screws up for you. None of the passes land to feet. Clearances barely clear the penalty box. EA Sports - It’s in the game more like EA Sports - **** in the game

    Think all players agree its more obvious than ever that RNG determines who wins.

    Keepers will let in or save goals at random and not on the difficulty to save. I got lucky with packs and have a few million coins and I can safely say affordable prem players will probably win you more games.

    The goalkeepers will decide who wins and outfield players will have little to no influence on the game.

    If I had written this in September/October then I would genuinely rate it quite highly. However after pointless updates and changes to gameplay EA have once again pondered to the streamers and made a complete sweat fest fifa.     Rubbish game!The AI is overpowered to make you want to buy their rubbish cards.Even when you make the big mistake to buy Fifa points,they give you useless players.It is just a gambling game.

    Anything, from offline to Ultimate Team and Pro Clubs is made to be completely random, controlled by the omnipotent AI which decides your fate as a player, in many circumstances, and this is what so many people refer to as "scripting".

    This could not be further from a real game of football, if we except the graphic value of the game, the only reason for which I give a point to it. You would think playing with friends against other people on the Pro Clubs mode would minimise the influence of the AI. But it still finds a way to destroy your/your opponent's game somehow. Sometimes through a full match, sometimes for just a period of time. Through balls in the air are overpowered, AIs completely unbalanced between one team and the other, and the "momentum" shifts completely without any warning, after scoring a goal or two.

    In a good game, controls are meant to be accessible and hard to master, making the gameplay rich and a strong player should most of the time beat an average player, or a bad player. In FIFA, this goes to the bin. The dumber you are, the more likely you are to win games and have the game help you at that. Of course, there is a threshold, and people who triumph in worldwide competitions most likely understood the broken mechanic of the game, and use it to their advantage, but this only proves my point which is that the game is not fun, and those players don't play it for fun anymore.

    There is input lag, again, from time to time, on certain plays, which you can do without any issues in other circumstances, but all of a sudden your player takes an extra touch, or slows down his movement, without being tired. Even so, other tired players (often AI players) find a second wind out of nowhere despite their stamina meter clearly showing they're tired.

    I used to think scripting was a myth in FIFA, because the game was much more balanced, and fun to play. This hasn't been the case for years now. I believe most people would forgive EA even with their marketing campaign, promoting features that already existed in old games of the franchise, before disappearing and being used as newly introduced content to make sure people tune in. That gameplay is unbalanced, biased, chaotic, random, sometimes hand in hand with luck.

    What is worse, is that it has spread in the mind of the dumbest, sweatiest players that you only complain because you're not good at the game. I can hold my hands up high and say without a shadow of shame that I'm not good at this game anymore, because this game sucks. But I don't know if what worries me more is the fact no competitor is offering anything decent to fight EA's monopoly, or the fact so many people seem to believe this is actually a good game.    … Expand

    Another awful game added to the Fifa franchise. Gameplay is subpar and the AI is atrocious, teammates literally stand there watching balls go by them, the AI is so bad it genuinely feels like that part of the game is still in beta testing. EA sports continues to put out garbage even on the new systems, what a shocker!

    Terrible game play, unresponsive, defending is worse than 21, penalties are all apparently free kicks from the centre spot according to the voice over/ commentator. Feels rushed and pitch looks fake from some angles in game play. Wish I never paid for the ultimate edition. Feel like my money has been robbed

    FIFA 22 shows its wasted potential every step of the way. When everything works as it should, it’s the best FIFA in years. The problem is that while sometimes the new HyperMotion technology works great and really makes a noticeable difference, the game often picks wrong animations from its mind-boggling array of 8 million. Let’s hope EA Sports builds on these promising foundations, fixes what needs to be fixed and delivers a truly great experience next year. [12/2021, p.36]

    FIFA 22 has improved the feel and smoothness of actions, but there are almost no changes in the game mode and gameplay. The reduction of stand-alone content makes it not very suitable as the first FIFA entry for newcomers.

    FIFA 22 looks amazing on next-gen hardware which was to be expected. What was not to be expected is the brilliant gameplay. It still isn’t a full-blown simulation, of course, but it’s way more tactical and fun than before, including the (in)famous Ultimate Team. The only thing that truly suffers is the neglected Career Mode.
