    I don't know why EA just thinks about making money from ultimate team section for nothing & where the hell they spend money because obviously they didn't work enough for this game.

    I would really like to give this game a better score, but there is just one aspect of it that is driving me insane. I¨ve clocked in probably 100 hours on this game and I mostly play local career mode. I started by controlling my own player, and soon moved on to controlling the whole team and I could see my team¨s IQ drop massively.

    The AI is absolutely abysmal in defence. The only ways    I would really like to give this game a better score, but there is just one aspect of it that is driving me insane. I¨ve clocked in probably 100 hours on this game and I mostly play local career mode. I started by controlling my own player, and soon moved on to controlling the whole team and I could see my team¨s IQ drop massively.

    The AI is absolutely abysmal in defence. The only ways for you to score is to make a run and just zip it behind the goalie. If you try to dribble in the middle, you immediately get marked by at least three opponents and lose the ball. Then you go on defence and you are supposed to control all players on your defensive line because they are useless. 5 players standing in a line, while the opposing AI makes a run by the sideline into the middle and finds the perfect spots with the perfect passes. Opposing players can grab the ball from you if they get too close, but the only way you can grab the ball from them is by intercepting a pass, or by tackling them head on and hope the ball doesn't find it's way to another opponent.

    This absolutely pisses me off. Defending makes the game unplayable as you need to focus 80% of your energy on it, and score with the remaining 20% by making a run for it. Player movements are incredibly stiff, passing inaccurate, AI is rather poor and of this seems to indicate that EA is more focused on milking the online side of the game for more money than making it playable for everyone. Too bad.

    I mean there’s no way to state enough how much of a garbage company EA is as well as how **** their fifa games are. Servers are trash, disconnects all the time, buy pressure for the greedy packs. People just stay away from this pile of dogfecies.

    I’ve been playing football on playstation for more than 10 years. I used to play PES which was great and for the last couple of years decided to give fifa a chance. I will put it stright, I find fifa game in general STUPID and UNREALISTIC. The only good thing about it is the graphics :)

    the game is extremely unfair, be it online or local play.

    I don't recommend it to anyone. I will never buy games from ea again.

    This game is terrible. The main problem is the difficulty levels. You have a choice between easy gameplay settings, where you win every game 9-0, and difficult gameplay settings where you lose every game 0-5. There is literally nothing in between.

    The game is just way too easy or way too difficult making playing it a waste of time

    Une honte ce jeu.... la seule chose qui est mise en avant est le mode fut qui rapporte des millions, voir milliards à E.A. . . Les jeu de foots sont vraiment en à la traine par rapport aux autres types de jeux actuellement.

    It’s hard to find where I stand with FIFA 22. I was a die hard FIFA fan, and bought every single game at launch until around FIFA 17. I stopped because it felt like the new gameplay mechanics were always unpolished which made them feel like they were going backwards with each year, and it felt as if the only thing EA cared about improving was FIFA Ultimate Team, for obvious reasons. IIt’s hard to find where I stand with FIFA 22. I was a die hard FIFA fan, and bought every single game at launch until around FIFA 17. I stopped because it felt like the new gameplay mechanics were always unpolished which made them feel like they were going backwards with each year, and it felt as if the only thing EA cared about improving was FIFA Ultimate Team, for obvious reasons. I missed the past two years of FIFA, and it definitely feels like all of the updates they made previously are more refined. This is a good thing, but it says a lot about the intentions of the company if it takes them 3-4 years to fix new mechanics that should have been ready to go when they first rolled out. Regardless, we are finally here. It finally feels like a smooth FIFA experience again.

    At it’s core, FIFA 22 is a solid FIFA game. It does not shine in any areas, but it’s also not overtly weak in any areas either. It feels like a game that is exactly what it is, a game that is overall very good but makes minimal progress year after year. I think the long running sports franchise is in need of a reboot, just rebuild the entire game from the ground up, because it feels way too similar to the FIFA games I played 10+ years ago. I understand this is generally how sports games are, and from a business angle it makes perfect sense, but I think we are due. The only major issue I have with the game is that it feels like the AI has become much worse. It almost feels like every player has a “zone” they operate in, and they have become more rigid with only playing in their zone. It’s far too common when I send a second defender to pursue the attacker with the ball, he kind of hovers near them and then completely stops covering them, leaving a huge open for a super clean cross. Auto switching and player pursuit has always been an issue, buts noticeably worse.

    The graphics are good, but still feel like they are from last generation. The sound design is the same as always, which I must admit has been very good for awhile now. The presentation is just about the same - minor menu changes, minor overlay changes, but it’s all the same. FIFA also needs to figure out something with the Italian league, not that I’m a fan, but they are losing teams a bit too often now.

    All in all, I enjoyed FIFA 22. It’s a solid FIFA game, if you enjoy FIFA then there is no reason you wouldn’t like this one. Objectively, I give the game an 8/10, but the series as a whole needs some changes.    … Expand

    Kleine Verbesserungen im Gameplay, sonst wenig neues. Grafik ist okay aber noch nicht auf "Next Gen"-Niveau. Besonders ärgerlich für mich: ein Dreiviertel Jahr nach Veröffentlichung bestehen noch massive Bugs im Karriere-Modus (Saisonziele). Außerdem gibt es immer noch keine Online-Lobby für Multiplayer mit mehr als 2 Personen.

    I played it just because it was free with PS+. It exactly the same game than FIFA19 (last i bought) but with less content (no solo game like Alex Hunter before). Still terrible IA. Still terrible gameplay. Still same graphics. Just an update sold like a new game :)

    Carreer mode is fun, but yet again the main gamemode (FUT) is unplayable because of the horrible servers. The delay makes it frustrating to play, because it makes you feel like you can't control anything. Wouldn't recommend.

    gameplay itself is fun but overall game is terrible because of the obvious scripting. you can literally totally dominate your opponent but they still beat you much of the time. i know this happens in real soccer/football but the frequency at which it happens in this game is totally unrealistic and is honestly a joke. terrible game overall.

Carrier mode is stupid, AI puts my player to CF position, but my player is LW, well done EA. Playing offline is a lot worse than playing online. Sure, maybe there's some camera setting that will solve this problem, but the fact that this is a problem with the default camera settings shows just how little thought went into development of the game.

    But the most hilarious bug I've had is with the scripting. You can argue that FIFA doesn't script matches all you want, but in my first CL game of the season vs Inter Milan (so first CL game for both teams), I was up 1-0, and somehow on the upper left of the screen it said Lautaro Martinez scored 1 goal in 1 CL game (even though as the score line suggests, Inter haven't scored yet), and sure enough in the second half Inter scored an insane Fifa goal where all my defenders avoided Inter's players like the plague allowing Lautaro to score a goal for Inter.    … Expand

    Offline Modes: Career mode is still dull, with the twist of creating your own club, crest, and kit. However, you still cannot build your own stadium, which I find rather odd. You still cannot change your kit after a season, and overall the customization still lacks. Skill games are the same, still no reason for me to play them. Skill games in the past used to give points in the EA catalogue which let you have cool in game items. They were fun, and would often play them friends to compete with them. Now they aren't really that fun, and just fodder I skip past to get to the game.
    Volta: It is improved, but if you can't play online, then you're basically screwed. Still not very fun, and very frustrating to play.
    Pro Clubs: Haven't got to play this much, but from what I can tell, it's still being neglected.
    Ultimate team: Congratulations EA! You really made FUT **** again. It's truly gobsmacking to see you ruin a game mode this year. It is more than true to say that high rated players are less easy to attain. As someone who plays the game pretty consistently, and who opens packs regularly, still getting crappy players. SBC's are also almost impossible for someone like me to open, because I have to constantly sell players in my club or use them in other SBC's. The players you want are simply unattainable, and that's what separates players who have unlimited amounts of resources and time, to beat out the people who just want to play with Messi or Ronaldo in their team. It is pay to win and they know it. The more money you put into the game, the more you can benefit. But it shouldn't be like that. It should be the quality of game that you play. Rewards for playing are still dismal at best. There is no way someone can reasonably can have a good team without sending EA their work check. Instead of working on new ways to help the player be able to afford good players and craft sbcs, you guys find ways to line your own pockets.
    Gameplay: EA did it again. The end of Fifa 21 wasn't perfect , but was way better than this. Instead of working off of the last game, and making subtle improvements, EA change the entire game. At launch, keepers were insanely good. Now, since the last patch, keepers seriously can't do anything. Finishing is the worst it's ever been. Finesse shots are useless. Passes, through balls, and crosses are worse than ever. Defending is mind-numbingly bad. Scripted moments are back, and it seriously feels as if the game doesn't want you to have fun. Chemistry doesn't effect anything anymore. Don't get me started on connection issues.

    See EA, as soon as you make a product that is somewhat viable, there always has to be an end line. There always has to be something wrong. There always is another fix. Its a shame. Im very excited for UFL and new games like that so we can stop playing games that aren't worth it.

    Update: As of May 2022, I have stopped playing fifa. It is by far the worst fifa title I have ever played by far. There are no redeeming qualities to this game, and I assure you that you will go into a deep depression after playing this game. It makes you hate yourself for playing it. The rewards seem unattainable for casual players, and there isn't an end in sight. The game doesn't feel rewarding anymore. Everything is unbalanced. Nothing works as advertised. I'm done with fifa. This is not football, there are plenty of arcade football games from the 90's that are far more advanced and better as an overall game than this trash. Game is hacked and cracked and I'm talking about the live version, so many cheaters and the game doesn't give you any option to report cheaters.     Scripted piece of **** ,it's like every other FIFA game they did with better graphics at least thanks to PS5 ,they hardly touched PS4 version but they found a way to make money off this too. I hope UFL turns out to be what they say they will be and **** these guys up since Konami and PES definitely decided to self destruct this year.

Defending is worse...just forget about it in this game because the ball can be passed to a winger and your fullback will not do anything even if you are using the sprint.     Le problème de ce jeu c'est qu'il veut TOUT faire sans y parvenir, c'est donc terriblement frustrant.

    On devrait acheter ce jeu selon ce qu'on veut en faire, c'est à dire par module. Tel joueur veut le mode FUT, il le prend, un autre le mode carrière, il ne prend que ce dont il a besoin. Plutôt que d'acheter un jeu complet à 80 € frustrant, je voudrai acheter le mode carrière hyper    Le problème de ce jeu c'est qu'il veut TOUT faire sans y parvenir, c'est donc terriblement frustrant.

Loosing 7 - 1 to a team with lower rating with much lower chemistry and inferior players is bad enough, but when you combine that with the fact that the slowest centre halfs become Usain Bolt, the midfielders rated at 76 can dictate a match better than prime Zidane, Strikers become possessed by Lionel Messi, on top of that your team suddenly looks like they'd struggle in the Vanarama North. You don't change the way you play, which can only mean the game does and just decides it's going to win this one and players look like they're ice skating past you. We live in hope that one day there will be a new kid on the block that brings us a good football sim. Unfortunately in order to play football games we are stuck with this car crash.     Same old crap with onlien matches totally won by Scripts. Very slow unpolished player movements and super goalkeepers catching everything. Your defence can park the bus or be miles away from goal totally random.

    I made a mistake buying UFC 4 and this game real money hungry company and waste of money.

    EA sports are also incapable of making a good AI in the harder difficulties. On world class, legendary, and ultimate mode, all EA does is adjust gameplay sliders against you rather than making the AI actually play good football. Offline modes are AIDS because of that.

    Online modes there's less gameplay slider manipulation however EA is too poor with their multi-billion dollar revenue every year to invest in more servers. Thus, you can be from North America and play someone from Germany and have severe delay between your controller input and what happens in game.    … Expand

Such a shame you seem to focus more on making chores rather than making fun gameplay. Maybe your developers should try playing the game while creating it - you know, just to get a feeling of which parts of the game is fun to play and which parts seems to be unneccesary features that nobody wants or ask for.

    AI defenders constantly make mistakes and pull out of position and the passing is also very inaccurate particularly on through balls. Keeps also far too slow and getting up. Other than that it’s better than previous years.

Feels rushed and pitch looks fake from some angles in game play. Wish I never paid for the ultimate edition. Feel like my money has been robbed

    First, as always, I am forced to comment on the stupid/hate score here. Fact: every year the game gets a little bit better. Even though the upgrades are probably not worth the price of the full game, it is impossible to rate this game below 5 imo, there is just too much quality & content here.

    Then, my honest review. This year, the new player's animations coupled with a revamped ball physics bring a lot more variety to the gameplay. The balance is also a lot better and I felt my central defenders - after trying the "step up" instructions - were at long last able to position themselves correctly.

    Unfortunately, it seems the opponent AI rarely use this tactic, defenders will just backpedal to cover any through pass and let you find an easy shooting position. For the record, I played career mode on legendary with Kaiserslautern and found the game a lot easier. I also chose the "strict" transfer option which proved to be a late game breaker. After 4 years, I managed to improved all my young players above 80, some wonderkids even reached 88. I won the bundesliga and reached the semi in the champion's league. So I finally got a lot money and was really looking forward to further improve my squad. But no, the game is basically over because the "strict" transfer option won't let me buy any player above 90. Sad, very sad.

    Finally, as a career mode player, i am a little bit disapointed as it is exactly the same as last year. On the plus side, it runs a lot better on ps5 with almost no loading time but there is still so much room for improvement. Interviews before game are so random, the strict transfer option does not really work, half of your academy player will have the bug "ridiculous thin arm + no number on shirt", player development is still OP for the 5 stars skills and wrong foot perks. And last but not least, every career playthrough will be identical. Don't expect any random events who might challenge your manager skills like, idk: press scandals that destroy one player moral, 2 of your own players fighting on the pitch because one slept with the wife of the other, young star partying too much before games and destroying his progression, racism inside some stadiums, referees scandals with corruption...     Anything, from offline to Ultimate Team and Pro Clubs is made to be completely random, controlled by the omnipotent AI which decides your fate as a player, in many circumstances, and this is what so many people refer to as "scripting".

    This could not be further from a real game of football, if we except the graphic value of the game, the only reason for which I give a point to it. You would think playing with friends against other people on the Pro Clubs mode would minimise the influence of the AI. But it still finds a way to destroy your/your opponent's game somehow. Sometimes through a full match, sometimes for just a period of time. Through balls in the air are overpowered, AIs completely unbalanced between one team and the other, and the "momentum" shifts completely without any warning, after scoring a goal or two.

    In a good game, controls are meant to be accessible and hard to master, making the gameplay rich and a strong player should most of the time beat an average player, or a bad player. In FIFA, this goes to the bin. The dumber you are, the more likely you are to win games and have the game help you at that. Of course, there is a threshold, and people who triumph in worldwide competitions most likely understood the broken mechanic of the game, and use it to their advantage, but this only proves my point which is that the game is not fun, and those players don't play it for fun anymore.

    There is input lag, again, from time to time, on certain plays, which you can do without any issues in other circumstances, but all of a sudden your player takes an extra touch, or slows down his movement, without being tired. Even so, other tired players (often AI players) find a second wind out of nowhere despite their stamina meter clearly showing they're tired.

    I used to think scripting was a myth in FIFA, because the game was much more balanced, and fun to play. This hasn't been the case for years now. I believe most people would forgive EA even with their marketing campaign, promoting features that already existed in old games of the franchise, before disappearing and being used as newly introduced content to make sure people tune in. That gameplay is unbalanced, biased, chaotic, random, sometimes hand in hand with luck.

    What is worse, is that it has spread in the mind of the dumbest, sweatiest players that you only complain because you're not good at the game. I can hold my hands up high and say without a shadow of shame that I'm not good at this game anymore, because this game sucks. But I don't know if what worries me more is the fact no competitor is offering anything decent to fight EA's monopoly, or the fact so many people seem to believe this is actually a good game.    … Expand

    Rubbish game!The AI is overpowered to make you want to buy their rubbish cards.Even when you make the big mistake to buy Fifa points,they give you useless players.It is just a gambling game.

    If I had written this in September/October then I would genuinely rate it quite highly. However after pointless updates and changes to gameplay EA have once again pondered to the streamers and made a complete sweat fest fifa.     Its decent. I only play FUT. The matches are quite fun, however it feels a bit like a struggle to get the ball, score goals etc. Maybe thats just football

    FIFA 22 shows its wasted potential every step of the way. When everything works as it should, it’s the best FIFA in years. The problem is that while sometimes the new HyperMotion technology works great and really makes a noticeable difference, the game often picks wrong animations from its mind-boggling array of 8 million. Let’s hope EA Sports builds on these promising foundations, fixes what needs to be fixed and delivers a truly great experience next year. [12/2021, p.36]

    FIFA 22 has improved the feel and smoothness of actions, but there are almost no changes in the game mode and gameplay. The reduction of stand-alone content makes it not very suitable as the first FIFA entry for newcomers.

    FIFA 22 looks amazing on next-gen hardware which was to be expected. What was not to be expected is the brilliant gameplay. It still isn’t a full-blown simulation, of course, but it’s way more tactical and fun than before, including the (in)famous Ultimate Team. The only thing that truly suffers is the neglected Career Mode.
