Just no. Completed this game today and i feel just empty anger, avoid. Clearly putting the word souls in the title in a cynical effort to get souls fans to buy it has worked for sales, but the gameplay in this "game" is appalling, i beat the game through luck or trial and error, and now i regret bothering.

Just plain doesnt even function, you go to dodge with full stamina and the input lag is so bad it just feels awful, and unplayable. Wow.

Really? A Zero? How could you waste 15 hours on a 0. Man, don't listen to this guy there's no way the game is less than a 7.

A bit rough around the edges (and grueling as can be), I found the game satisfying overall. Plenty of moments of frustration with some bosses, but learning their movesets and finally overcoming them is a rush. Love the art style as well and some memorable boss designs. Again, not a mind-blowing game, but a decent entry into the Soulslike arena.

Eldest Souls’ difficulty level is so overwhelming even soulslike veterans will feel unsure of their skills. The developers boiled the game down to its essence, which is killing enemies, while the story and exploration were relegated to the background. As a result, the narrative tying boss encounters together is rather shallow. [10/2021, p.34]

As a game Eldest Souls does not hide the fact it is a tough game but it is trying to outshine in a genre that has had better examples, and better bosses over the years. Eldest Souls is by no means a bad game but it does rely on players having luck on their side a little bit too much, and that can make it a frustrating experience rather than a fun or engaging one.

Though it wears its overly obvious influences on its sleeve, Eldest Souls is an incredibly satisfying boss rush that still manages to set itself apart. Its brilliant combat is complimented by a smart skill system and some incredible pixel art. Designed with replayability in mind, it’s a little bit of a bummer that its impressive customization doesn’t really blossom until partway into your first playthrough. But one thing that’s there from the start is that feeling of immense glory after every hard-earned victory: Ceremoniously slumping onto the living room floor, clutching the carpet for dear life with one hand while exhaustedly flipping off the television with the other.
