Wiriting poems by picking 20 words from a list that you think a certain girl will like to make them like you even more… and then things get weird.. no spoilers, but think portal, things will just randomly be like oh, what game am I laying, and this second half is the better part of the game.. but in general I just didn’t find the story or characters to be that compelling, im glad I went through this ride to see what all the fuss was a about,
it really is a game worth playing, but I didn’t care enough about the characters for the twists to really hit me as much as t should have.. which I feel is due to the repetitive nature of the story, with no real choices to make me feel like I was pushing the story towards any sort of direction, I was just reading and reading and reading, I like cute stuff, I like deep stuff, It’s the same story different day, bpick 20 new words, and I just couldntcare… which kinda left the 6 side stories in the plus version vs the main version to not really be wort hit for me in particular, for that reason id suggest just playing the main game for free, and if the world , the story, and charcters connect with you, go back and play through plus for that bonus content.. I however am not one of those people.
Overall Doki Doki Literature Club isa good game, with crazy wtf moments.. But lower your expectations before going in.. its not as great as everyone pretends it is.
I give Doki Doki Literatue Club Plus
    a 7/10

    This game is amazing.

It is a charming and beautiful game, which from one moment to another becomes a true horror game that will leave you thinking about the decisions you have made. It is very worth playing it, if you like graphic novels or horror games you will like Doki Doki a lot, unless you don't like reading, because the game has too much dialogue between the characters, so you

For what is a technically simple game, this is one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had. It made me experience feelings I never thought possible from a video game. What is special about this game is the breaking of the 4th wall in a similar manner as in Undertale/Pony Island/Inscryption. But that's pretty much it. The writing was bad, the characters bland, and the story uninteresting. I had to force myself through this game and I was only disappointed in the end. Going into Doki Doki Literature Club, I knew one of the biggest spoilers (if not arguably the biggest one), and was worried it would hinder the enjoyment of the game for me. This is definitely not a game for everyone, but the subtle storytelling kept me coming back with interest to try and theorize over every bit that was happening and I was still surprised at the end. Not much I can say about this game except I really did enjoy it and recommend it so long as you can handle a fun horror experience. Expand

This is not a game I like to see on my big screen. Maybe it is fun on mobile while waiting at a bus stop, but no.

Outstanding experience because yes... It's a deep experience before being a game. You have to live it to understand all the messages included in this title. I tried and i took a Big slap because im a father and when we have 32 we dont get the same messages. Powerful. Thank you for this. Hope another one like DDLC. Sensitive souls refrain.

As one of the most famous western visual novel dating sims I played this game at the end of 2022 so I have heard everything about this game. And yet it still somehow managed to deliver with some really unsettling imagery.

What makes it so effective is the fact that the cast is quite likable so seeing what the game puts them through is an effective way to affect the player. And while the game gives you ample time to get to know everyone, I feel like the game reaches its best writing in the Side Stories.

Added as bonus content for the Plus! version of the game there are six Side Stories each consisting of two parts. They focus on the cast forming the Literature Club and learning to coexist with each other. Emotions ensue.

Coming into this, I was not expecting much but what I got was fun, thrilling and really gripping. What a fun take on a genre I am not very fond of.

More than just Monika – this tuned-up 8 console release makes DDLC worth any visual novel fan’s time. The story’s darker than the graphics suggest. [Issue#4, p.91]

Doki Doki Literature Club works best if you go into it knowing nothing about it. It’s still a visual novel dating sim, and the Plus! version really doubles down on the visual novel aspect, but it breaks the status quo and does the unexpected, making a deeply disturbing psychological horror game out of something that looks cute and adorable on the surface. The console version diminishes some of what made the PC version’s twist work so well, a necessary sacrifice to get the game to a wider audience. And if you are just looking to return to this world and these characters, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! feels like the version that was made for the fans.

Don’t judge a book by its cover, especially when you’re part of a literature club. Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! brings the cult classic back with improved visuals and six enduring side stories that explore the characters’ backdrops. What first may appear as a lighthearted dating simulator will quickly spiral into a psychological horror experience that will leave a lasting impression on anyone who plays it.
