    I recently discovered this game and have put about 14 hours into it so far. Overall I'd say it's worth a play through if you like survival games. If you can find it on sale on the Playstation Store, it's definitely worth the cost. The environment is gorgeous, and makes it fun to explore. This is the biggest appeal of the game to me. Collecting resources and building items to survive is pretty fun, and kept me wanting to push forward. Some of the survival mechanics need work though. Storage is lacking, inventory management is rough (on the PS5, but seems great on PC), controller button mapping is horrible (options for inventory instead of touch pad, options to exit instead of circle), some resources are next to impossible to find (i.e. aluminum, alkali), durability on tools like scanners is frustratingly low, and base building really struggles (I could never figure out how to build an airlock between the main module and the transport module to protect oxygen).

    Even a year after the PS5 release I can see the game is version 1.0.0. I'm hoping they can fix some of these things in a later release. In my opinion, the first Subnautica game is the best survival game to date. I see this as a competitor if improvements can be made. In it's current state it's still worth playing.    … Expand

The humor may not be to everyone's taste, but aside from that, the beautiful views of space wrecks and the challenge of escaping death make for a few entertaining hours of gameplay.     Breathedge takes an interesting premise and shoves it out the airlock with an overreliance on tired jokes and half-baked survival sim mechanics. An admirable attempt to move the genre forward collapses under the weight of too much self-awareness and not enough polish.
