Monochrome with a Slash of RED!!!

Apple Slash is a great, fun indie title by Ratalaika Games and Agelvik. You play as might Apple Knight that uses a mighty slashing sword to kill the creatures lurking in the marshlands. Yes this game is set in a black and white visual scene with the colour Red slashing around which really adds to the games visuals. You set off on a quest to banish

Yes this game is set in a black and white visual scene with the colour Red slashing around which really adds to the games visuals.

You set off on a quest to banish the creatures from the Marshlands but you will encounter side quests through out this short yet fun journey. Using you sword, you can slash the creatures with ease but that's not all, throughout the game, your sword can be upgraded and combined with different technics in rotating blades, boomerang style sword and so on.

As mention, the game is very short, I finished it in under 1 hour but didn't fully do all the missions. I would say if you were to sit down and 100% it it still wouldn't take you very long. The game leaves itself open for a sequel with is touching as I would really like to play more of this game.

Overall, yes its very short but it has some nice on screen crazy action and the visuals nice in a different way. I would recommend picking this game up and fingers crossed we will see more of the Apple knight in the near future!

Visually, everything is black and white, with a few hints of red, which is certainly pretty striking. On top of that, Apple Slash is scored by a chiptunes soundtrack that does its genre proud. To be sure, if you’re looking for something more substantial, Apple Slash isn’t it. But if you look at it as a teaser or a prelude for something bigger – which it hopefully is – it certainly seems like the first part of something that could become a truly distinctive experience.

Apple Slash is a basic top-down, maze-based hack and slasher set in a fantasy land but it's too short, simple and plainly presented to really be something we can recommend.
