I tried the demo but unfortunately you need a Ubisoft account to actually play. Hard pass.

30 fps in "next-gen" 4 years old game on PS5 in 2023. Are you kidding? "Welcome to the 19th century" – that is true. Absolutely unplayable. Sony, give me a way to make a refund.

Anno 1800, subpar edition. the 9, day one cosmetic DLC's was my first clue, that this game was a rip-off (glad it had free trial). I started the game and it took longer than it should have to figure out how to blow up the fish. When i got my city started, i could only fulfill 2 of the 3 requirements and the game offered no tutorial or help as to how to advance. Ubi has got so bad, it seems like obiden is working for them . Expand

It is a pretty solid game, probably the best city-building strategy game for consoles yet. But to be fair consoles typically haven’t much good titles of this genre. The controls are pretty well done. Personally I miss the great content DLCs from the PC version and I’m very disappointed I can’t get them for the console. For this reason I can’t give a rating more than 8.

Great job, I have played Anno 1800 on PC too, but now I enjoy that even more.

Very good Game. Ive got lost in the Trial for hours. Now ive bought it. My last Anno is now 25 Years ago.... The Console Controls are very good. Maybe they give us the DLCs if the Game sucess a little. So much lovely Details. (Try the "Konami Code" Easter Egg to walk in 1st Person)

great game! I had never played Anno1800 before because I don't own a PC. Finally Anno1800 came out for the consoles and I'm obsessed! The control was solved very well, I'm positively surprised. One negative point: most of the time the textures have to reload. Hopefully the dlc's will also come for the consoles

Its one of the best city building/strategy games I have ever played. It checks all boxes. Except, the UI and controls are terrible in different ways. This would be much of a problem, if the controls were not so damn unresponsive. Often you end up in some submenu, completely not where you want to be. To make matters worse, often, in different menus it keeps scrolling no matter what you do, so you cannot select anything anymore. Even reloading doesn't help. Only a complete restart of the game. Later on in the game it happens every 15 min. This is a bad bug. If it werent for the bad UI and controls, it woukd be a 10 Expand

This game is definitely going to be popular with a certain demographic of gamers, but for me the whole thing is far far too slow.

I reached a point where my resources were stable and the end was in sight but then I realized I would have to spend countless hours waiting to build up an armada. A half dozen instantly built harbour turrets can annihilate a 15 strong fleet. I figured I could guess the outcome and stop wasting my time. I much preferred the previous titles where resource management wasn't a full time faff.

The game is not bad but it is dull and limited without having DLCs which are not planned to be released on the console. Overall it does not deserve its pricey tag. Dividing cosmetics packs into many different packages and pricing them expensively is also a shame. If it was released as a full package including DLCs, it would be really a good game, what a miss. Controls are OK, neither good nor bad.

With the new Console Edition of "Anno 1800", Ubisoft managed to take a huge step towards a perfect implementation of a strategy game on the home console.

Anno 1800 is one of the most addictive city builders that I’ve played on console, full of gameplay intricacies that create an intoxicating experience. With so many moving parts, it suffers a bit from the typical PC-to-console control issues that plague the genre, but I doubt that will stop you from spending hours building an empire.

Anno 1800 is a stellar strategy game and while the Console Edition has some flaws (e.g. large interface windows cluttering the screen, some technical issues, the lack of major expansions available on PC), they’re not so annoying as to suck the fun out of the experience. However, it seems the PS5 and Xbox version of the game was developed with novices rather than veterans of the series in mind. Regardless, I enjoyed my time with Anno 1800 Console Edition very much.

Anno’s core strength is the cities that it allows you to create. Sometimes it does feel more like a puzzle game than a simulator, as you desperately try to figure out how to give your most demanding residents access to everything they crave. However, the satisfaction of doing it well is almost incomparable for the genre. I am a firm believer that simulation games, at their best, teach you about real-world jobs, processes, and social/cultural/environmental dynamics, whether that be flying a plane, driving a train, running a hotel or building a city. Anno does that, and it presents players with a vision for cities that will, hopefully, be the future of urban planning.
