The environmental graphics and lighting are breathtaking. I was constantly amazed by what they achieved on the PS4, cos the visuals were stunning and I find myself saying WOW a lot of times. What is even more incredible is that MachineGames manage to set the gameplat at a solid 60fps! This made the experience buttery smooth and immersive. Cutscenes are well animated, with superb voice acting and Tarantino-style direction. The main gripe I had was the faces of characters in game, which were not as impressively modeled as the environments.

    GAMEPLAY
You can choose to go guns blazing, full stealth or a mix of both. I mostly went stealth with slow and deliberate exploration of each level. When sh*t hits the fan, that's when I pull out the big guns, dual wield them and go to town on them Nazis!! It's a very satisfying and rewarding gameplay loop. Taking out commanders silently before they can raise the alarm never gets old. Sidequests and assassination missions mean that ai could revisit levels and get all the collectibles that I missed during the main mission. This allowed me to enjoy the story without worrying of missing out on any collectible/lore or unexplored areas.

My main complaint about gameplay would be damage feedback. A lot of times when I die, I didn't even realize I was being shot at and from which direction. Gunplay feels a lot like Doom 2016 only more frustrating because of the lack of feedback and some tough difficulty spikes.

    STORY
I enjoyed the story and getting attached to the characters. I tried to find every single lore on each level which gave the in-game characters and enemies more depth, and also adding on to the general plot. This makes the story more impactful and allowed me to empathize with Blazkowicz and gang, even some if the Nazis. I highly recommend going slow and taking your time to explore instead of run-and-gun to the next objective.

Overall, as an FPS based purely on single player mode with no multiplayer, Wolfenstein 2 ticks all the right boxes. I cannot wait for Wolfenstein 3!!

This is how you honor an old franchise. Excellent, fresh, fast & fun. Story is jaw-droppingly good, considering genre and Mick Gordons soundtrack packs a punch.
Original Wolfy wasn´t the first FPS, but it´s my first FPS that i played back in the day.
I like that Machine Games is doing their own thing with this IP.

I seldomly give a game a 9, but Bethesda Softworks did a nearly brilliant job with Wolfenstein 2. My only critic: the enemy Ai still needs much improvement. Fix that and you've got an action game at its best.

The only downside is the damage-scaling on the normal difficulty setting - you will get shredded in literal seconds. This forced me to select the easiest difficulty setting so that way I could enjoy game in terms of story and gameplay (because I believe that videogames should be fun to play by balancing entertainment value whilst also testing your 'skill' level).

Nevertheless, I can't wait to see how the next sequel (Wolfenstein III) wraps everything up.

I would suggest retreating to moms basement and carrying on a conversation with your Trump cardboard standee. For starters ask yourself why you refer to others as snowflakes, when you all cry about everything... Its a video game, and not even a very serious one... its typical Wolfenstein. Graphics and sound are just fine, not the greatest, but perfectly fine. I laughed several times which i will not spoil and would recommend this game to any fan of shooters. Bethesda once again proves itself as a gaming reference in single player shooter. They have grown as one of my favorite studios. Wolfenstein 2 evolved from Wolfenstein 1 in everything: gameplay, violence, weapons, history, level design, narrative, action. This is one of my favorite single player campaigns I've ever played to date.

One of the best Singleplayer FPS i've ever played, definitely worth picking up if you favor story and FPS shooters. But definitely need to play the first one first.
My only big complain is the loading times can be too long and annoying at times and makes it very unfavorable to play at a harder difficulty as this only happens when you die. which happens alot at harder difficulty.

Just like 2016's Doom, this game is a fast, fluid, challenging and rewarding shooter. But unlike Doom 2016, this game actually has one of the most engaging stories in an FPS I have personally ever played. The story itself touches on the main protagonist and his allies own humanity and struggle to escape oppression with a series of special operations in a 1960s America over thrown by the 3rd reich. In context the game starts immediately after The New Order, reccuring characters and themes all intact. The game starts you as a broken BJ Blazkowitz, suffering from internal injuries, being hunted by one of the main antagonist of the new order, Frau Engel, a sadistic Nazi general out for Blazkowitz blood after the events of the prior game. Literally being broken, the first half of the game is very stealth heavy, you can go guns blazing if you understand the enemy placements and environments you are in, but since the game starts you with such low health this can become a fairly difficult task. Around the half way point you are given new gadgets and boosted health which makes the game much more viable for your preferred playstyle. Which is a strong point, the game mixes elements of Machine games prior products very well. Visceral melee and stealth is reminiscent of Butcher Bay, while the fast paced duck and weave shooting is much like The Darkness. The gameplay all feels highly refined, aside from a few stealth sections feeling a bit gimmicky and unfair due to enemy placements and the ultra aggressive AI. A lack of multiplayer may come off as a turn off to some, but this does not personally bother me, being someone who prefers a solid single player offering without tacked on multiplayer. The campaign ranges anyshere from 10-15 hours or so depending on skill and difficulty selected, which I find a solid length for a single player shooter, where many last less than 6 hours in this day and age of MP focused triple A shooters. Personally this game, along with 2016's Doom, have been a true joy to play for me. The blend of retro style ultra violent gunplay, and modern tactical shooting mixed with stealth, knock the ball way out of the park. If youre a fan of a good single player experience, but this game and play it several times. If lack of MP disappoints you, at least try renting it or wait for a massive price drop, you may enjoy what you find. Expand

Wolfenstein went from good to amazing, damn, how I love this game. Shooting Nazi's never felt better, the characters and story is absolutely terrific (and **** crazy) and the score and sound direction are just audible gold. One tip, go with the Wyatt route, much more rewarding in character development and the ending is much better (I love Fergus but he's pretty much a caricature this time around).

Every weapon in this game has a certain meaty punch to them, with a decent perk and upgrade system to go with them. Overall, despite what people say, there is plenty of gameplay here and machine games has included side operations too, as a sort of shield from complaints that its too short, and they work fine if just readjustments to the same maps in the world.

Looking back on this game overall, I was in constant state of enjoyment, and that I cannot deny, there are very mixed opinions in terms of users for this game, and all i can say is you might hate it or love it. But its certainly worth finding out, because this game is surprisingly creative.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is an amazing sequel to 2014's The New Order.

What I really like about this game (as well as its predecessor) is the alternate 1960s history, the characters and storytelling. Protagonist BJ Blazkowicz's character is being built up as a man forced to survive in a world gone awfully bad, and having to deal with his personal demons. Flashbacks show us his tough upbringing by a cruel father, justifying how a man can possibly slaughter hundreds of Nazis like it were a piece of cake. Blazkowicz also has a pregnant girlfriend and worries about his fiancè and unborn twin daughters, foreshadowing the events of Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Storywise the highlight is the level where Blazkowicz faces his father. The main antagonist is Frau Engel, returning from The New Order, portrayed as a maniacal and sadistic Nazi general in a playful way. I also like how they mixed Roswell and Area 52 in this alternate history. Even though Hitler isn't the main antagonist, he makes a cameo appearance (and you have the chance to kick him in the face).

Gameplay is the same as The New Order. You have to traverse some open maps (it's not an open world) and shoot down tons of enemies with the option of doing it stealthily. Whereas in The New Order it was possible to stealth kill entire legions of Nazis, I find it much more difficult to sneak up on enemies in The New Colossus thanks to the level design and the fact that the commanders are located at the very end of the levels, meaning you have to sneak past all of the enemy soldiers before assassinating these commanders (if they spot you they call in re-inforcements). Since gameplay mechanics have remained mostly the same, the developers added 3 "contraptions" (aka gadgets) which you gain access to midway through the campaign. One major gripe I have with the game (as well as its predecessor) is the classic chokepoints. At some points in the game you have to dispatch many waves of re-spawining enemies with bullet sponges thrown into the mix. Without spoiling the story, at the court scene I had to re-load the game some 20 times before finally clearing the level. This is not Dark Souls-style challenging, this is annoying and unfair.

Graphics have been greatly upgraded since The New Order (which was a cross-gen game), The New Colossus focuses on current-gen consoles and sports greatly expanded and detailed levels with many more colors in the chromatic palette. The game runs at 60 fps with just a few drops, and gameplay fluidity is never impacted too much. The voice acting is great, with standouts being the Engel and Blazkowicz characters. The OST is OK.

Overall, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a big improvement over The New Order. It's a shame this series is under-appreciated among gamers and the one-dimensional Doom (let alone CoD) steals all the headlines these days. I hope there is a Wolfenstein III in the future, because Youngblood doesn't really hit the target. I definitely recommend The New Colossus to everyone.

The story could probably be the main reason you'd buy and play the game, even if you are not into first person shooters it's definitely worth to play for the story itself.

I'd really like everyone who consider themselves "a gamer" to consider buying this and supporting fair singleplayer game with great story, these become more and more uncommon nowadays, unfortunately.

Fantastic wolfenstein game - great graphics, gameplay, and story with clever humor. It misses out on 10 due to lazy level design (misleading lighting) and some poor gameplay mechanics like being able to walk over ammo to pick it up, but having to press action buttons when picking up items from a chest.

With its mixture of high octane gunplay and remarkable visual presentation, in many ways The New Colossus is a serious improvement over its already excellent predecessor. Presenting a frightening view of the past, biting commentary and an engrossing cast - led ably by the surprisingly endearing and thoughtful BJ - it really is a very strong showing in a year full of strong showings.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is an FPS that makes a ton of good to great decisions, but also a handful of poor ones. Tightly crafted gameplay is marred by adherence to genre conventions, and the narrative gets off to a slow start as the game decides what it wants to be. However, neither of those are enough to drag this down too much, as it is simply too well put together and has more than enough personality and fun to poke through the layer of seriousness draped over the first parts of the campaign. What is left is a game that can stand as a very fine example of its genre, if not quite a groundbreaking one.
