The Level design in this game was frustrating, the story felt too focused on social issues rather than
the actual story needed for this type of game, the characters we're ok, most of the dialogue was just "we hate the facists" "we hate white america" "we hate something else".

The Gameplay was pretty fun i generally had a good time stabbing, mowing down, destroying nazis and robots, same as the first game just with **** level design.

This game couldv'e been good without the social agenda this game seems to push on players.

Gameplay was good, Level design was godawful and confusing, story was trying to hard to be something it wasn't, The characters were good with a few notable exceptions, The weapons
were satifying to use. Overall this game was meh and it could've been more than meh if it only tried to be a game rather than a political argument.

This game is a joke. Gamestop charged me 40 CAD, no way.
Its super short, and the aiming is super sluggish on console. Tons of fillers in the gameplay. and story is stupid. No new enemies, and there are only 5 weapons??? are you f serious? and IGN gave this crap a 9.1????? I wont buy any games from that publishers any more

This is the most cringey dialogue and story progression in existence. Its as if a thirteen year old boy who loved black, gay, Jewish woman who happened to also really love the F word wrote the script, cringe. talk about a basket of token minorities. oh and dont forget about the pregnant woman going full on topless covered in blood dual wielding guns as if to tell me this is the NEW bad ass we should all strive to be, absolute cringe. the game is also extremely short, i beat it in a day, so 60 is quite the asking price, not to mention it wants you to scrap out more money for its dlc. all in all if you really want a good shooter, just play DOOM or its upcoming sequel and if you're looking for a great narrative game play God of War or Uncharted 4, cheers. This is a hard game to sit down and talk about. In this short, non-stop, action-packed game, it just goes for it. It dark, gritty and sad but also funny, light and happy at times. It rides the line and what is that line? I don’t even know.

The game starts off with something that was so emotionally draining, right off the bat it was an emotional punch to the gut. While I was sitting next to my dog in real life, I had to shoot B.J. Blazkowicz’s (main characters) childhood dog. Oh man, that was such a tough moment, I was not emotionally prepared for that. After that, the game gets emotionally gets easier to swallow.

After the game’s intro, things start to pick up narratively but everyone still remains to be very gloomy. As the game progresses you meet Super Spesh and Grace who are just trying to survive. Upon their arrival, things start to look like they’re improving and also with Super Spesh he brings some much-needed light-hearted humor. Before they arrived it started to feel like the game was taking itself way too seriously.

I hate to be so vague with everything in regards to the story because there are so many things I want to talk about but I don’t want spoil anything. The game has a tone and then about two-thirds of the way through the game there is a major tonal switch. It goes off the rails crazy and what it does it gets me so excited for the sequel.

It pains me to say this but the weakest part of this game is the gameplay. There is not a great difficulty setting. There are six settings and two through 6 are harder than you want them to be. This is a game that you want some resistance but you don’t want to get stuck in a certain level. This is a game that only flows well when its actually flowing, you want things to progress and move along. The problem with the first difficulty it was too easy. I know it sounds nit-picky but the key to have a great game is having the right difficulty setting.

The gameplay itself, you can dual-wield any weapon and it’s satisfying enough. Depending on the ammo, I was constantly switching up the combinations but it was fun rocking machine gun and shotgun. As I said before I put the difficulty setting on one and played it like a cartoony first-person shooter. Just blasting through Nazi’s. It wound up being fun enough.

The biggest disappointment about this game is the fact that it was so close to being great. With it being on the Doom engine, I thought it was going to play like that. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen quite like that. The story is better than Doom but Doom has the better gameplay.

The entire game was not very long, which is a pro and a con. The game is not something you want to do for 15 hours. But at the same time, asking people to spend $60 on an eight-hour game is asking a lot. I had a lot of fun playing this game and its one the memorable gaming experiences of my life but this is something I would wait until it’s on sale to pick up.

The environmental graphics and lighting are breathtaking. I was constantly amazed by what they achieved on the PS4, cos the visuals were stunning and I find myself saying WOW a lot of times. What is even more incredible is that MachineGames manage to set the gameplat at a solid 60fps! This made the experience buttery smooth and immersive. Cutscenes are well animated, with superb voice acting and Tarantino-style direction. The main gripe I had was the faces of characters in game, which were not as impressively modeled as the environments.

    GAMEPLAY
You can choose to go guns blazing, full stealth or a mix of both. I mostly went stealth with slow and deliberate exploration of each level. When sh*t hits the fan, that's when I pull out the big guns, dual wield them and go to town on them Nazis!! It's a very satisfying and rewarding gameplay loop. Taking out commanders silently before they can raise the alarm never gets old. Sidequests and assassination missions mean that ai could revisit levels and get all the collectibles that I missed during the main mission. This allowed me to enjoy the story without worrying of missing out on any collectible/lore or unexplored areas.

My main complaint about gameplay would be damage feedback. A lot of times when I die, I didn't even realize I was being shot at and from which direction. Gunplay feels a lot like Doom 2016 only more frustrating because of the lack of feedback and some tough difficulty spikes.

    STORY
I enjoyed the story and getting attached to the characters. I tried to find every single lore on each level which gave the in-game characters and enemies more depth, and also adding on to the general plot. This makes the story more impactful and allowed me to empathize with Blazkowicz and gang, even some if the Nazis. I highly recommend going slow and taking your time to explore instead of run-and-gun to the next objective.

Overall, as an FPS based purely on single player mode with no multiplayer, Wolfenstein 2 ticks all the right boxes. I cannot wait for Wolfenstein 3!!

Fantastic wolfenstein game - great graphics, gameplay, and story with clever humor. It misses out on 10 due to lazy level design (misleading lighting) and some poor gameplay mechanics like being able to walk over ammo to pick it up, but having to press action buttons when picking up items from a chest.

Pros: * No lootboxes * Good plot * Nazi is humans too, but they're bad. it's really entertaining to listen nazi's dialogs, because they are so real * Gore! Blood! ARRRR *

    * Enough weapons for ~10 hours of gameplay
    * It has some kind of upgrade system, so you can upgrade your weapon, plus the game is trying to adapt for your actions. For example, if you're stealth player, then your character will be better at that.
    * Music by Mick Gordon

    Cons:
    * Level design. Where should I go :( ?

Bethesda once again proves itself as a gaming reference in single player shooter. They have grown as one of my favorite studios. Wolfenstein 2 evolved from Wolfenstein 1 in everything: gameplay, violence, weapons, history, level design, narrative, action. This is one of my favorite single player campaigns I've ever played to date.

Actually, it feels like mythology. There are moments, as with most Bethesda games, where you find yourself wandering around a friendly space and examining all of the artwork and detail. The characters have really different personalities and it's easy to like them and want to protect them. There are also a lot of ultra metal moments, some bloody and extremely weird stuff happens. No spoilers, but I loved some of the most bizarre moments in game. I would break this down into the usual pros and cons, but...

then I read the other reviews.

It's stunning that we've reached an age where fighting Hitler himself is "the SJW agenda." The game makes zero mention of any neo American right movements, the enemy is the literal Nazis, the ones from the 1940s, the ones that have ALWAYS BEEN the villians in the Wolfenstein series, yet here you have A SURPRISING AMOUNT OF people giving the game low marks because of it's """politics""" which boil down to nothing more than "Nazis are bad" something to which we USED TO AGREE ON.

In reality, I think this is a solid 9/10 game. It's an A+ with a few frustrating moments that kept it from perfection. I'm bumping up the rating slightly because I honestly think the fact that I just read 30 reviews that only get into specifics when it comes to the game's "politics" and others that seem really vague, making me wonder whether or not they're criticizing the game authentically. I'm sure somewhere in these 200+ bad reviews, someone had a legitimately negative experience and, as someone who hated The Last Jedi, I'm sorry that your opinion is getting lumped in with a bunch of actual fascists.

Wolfenstein went from good to amazing, damn, how I love this game. Shooting Nazi's never felt better, the characters and story is absolutely terrific (and **** crazy) and the score and sound direction are just audible gold. One tip, go with the Wyatt route, much more rewarding in character development and the ending is much better (I love Fergus but he's pretty much a caricature this time around).

First of all, this is a movie-game, not a video game. You watch almost as much as you play. Gameplay is bad. No hit markers, guns are meh, no difference between hip fire and ADS(!). These three things alone make the game not worth playing. Very little destruction of the map. I mean very, very little. Map design is pffff.

The last time I played a campaign was in COD: Black Ops on PS3 and the last time I played online was in Battlefield 4, so, going into this game, I was really worried about how much fun I could have in this game. I knew I would totally blew the gameplay by trying to learn how to actually play shooters and, well, lately FPS hasn’t been known for their stellar campaigns. I was almost sure that I would end up abandoning this game or finishing it just for the sake of it. I couldn’t be more wrong.

Let’s start by the graphics. It has it’s ups and downs. The facial design and expressions are ugly as hell, kinda like Mass Effect: Andromeda without the bugs. It creeps you out when you’re in cutscenes and the characters are talking to each other. On the playable parts, however, the graphics are amazing. They seem a little bit cartoonish, but in a good way. This style gives the game a face of it’s own, a lot of personality. The explosions are beautiful and, when you’re walking around Roswell seeing the parades, the KKK, all the stores and buildings, it actually makes you want to walk around that place in real life just to explore, see how things are going. Everything looks alive and beautiful.

The soundtrack of the game is also something really well done. It gives you all sorts of emotions when the music starts playing at scenes with heavy action or the sad scenes. The voice acting is totally on point. It seems like every actor was handpicked for the personality of their characters. And the silence of everything else when B.J. is talking to himself during the campaign is kinda heartbreaking.

The gameplay was very fun, even if it caused me a lot of trouble for not knowing anything about first-person shooters (also it was hard as hell). Everytime I killed a Nazi it felt so **** good. You just wanna grab those guns and shoot through their skulls, and that’s exactly how the combat felt like. B.J.’s movement was smooth and simple. If you wanted to just run around shooting everything or being a little stealthier, everything could be done without major issues. The cover system felt kinda broken to me, though, as I barely even used it. Another thing that was really, really broken was the navigation system, which is the main flaw of this game. The “hint” system, which shows where you’re supposed to go, doesn’t show you anything mosto f the time or makes you completely confused by showing two directions, and that really slows everything down and makes you wonder where the hell am I and where the hell am I supposed to go. Apart from that, I had almost no bugs whatsoever in the game, making the flow of it very fine-tuned.

The story is great. I couldn’t wait for the cutscenes to see how everything was going to advance. And it makes you crave that follow-up. You can’t stop playing until it’s over, really, because you’ll always want to see how you’re going to **** the Nazis again, and how B.J. is going to get his revenge. All the characters in this game are incredible. They all have their own distinct personality. They’re all themselves. From the badass B.J. to the retarded Max Hass, you have no other choice but to love them all (aside from that Nazi **** who is also amazingly constructed).

In an age when multiplayer completely dominates, which is specially true about FPS, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus comes to show that things doesn’t have to be that way. An incredible story, which beautifully-crafted characters and a fun, albeit hard, gameplay, made me fall in love with this franchise. More of this, please. That’s all I ask. More of this.

    First, the bad:
My biggest problem with the game concerns the tools and feedback it provides players in terms of situational awareness. We take for granted in most modern FPS games that it is easy to tell when you are being shot, and where the shots are coming from. I found myself dying frequently in W2:TNC when I actually had very little sense of how much damage I was taking, or even what my health was at any given moment. The game lacks those all too familiar "health critical" warnings like blood on the screen, desaturation, or even the "beeping" of fully depleted shields. It's simply hard to know the status of your own character.
It's hard to know the status of enemies as well. For starters, they are often not easily visually distinguishable from each other. Eliminating enemy commanders is a key mechanic in the game, as they can sound alarms and call reinforcements, but from a distance of more than about 5 meters they look just like every other enemy in the game, creating confusion for any player trying to eliminate them quickly. What's more, most enemies blend right into the environments, for the most part lacking any contrasting colors, lights on their armor, or other features that would allow you to notice them among the frantic action of a fight. Even during calm moments, they are often very still, and lack loud footsteps, vocal "barks," or other cues that help you understand where they are in the environment.
This feeds into the larger problem of the games poorly realized "play your way" system, theoretically designed to allow for stealth, tactical play, or in-your-face brute force. Without the kind of situational information and feedback I mention above, or systems seen in other flexible play style games like tagging enemies, radar, or better corner peeking, stealth is nearly impossible. Repeatedly I found myself successfully eliminating two or three enemies at most before being spotted by an enemy I didn't even know was there, or worse, having an enemy body (which cannot be moved) being spotted by a living enemy. When this happens, the alarm is sounded almost instantly, resulting in waves of aggressive enemies pouring out of the wood work, forcing you into frantic fire fights. So much for stealth.
Even the "tactical" path, which encourages use of cover, positioning, and careful aiming, is quickly nullified by the same issue. Waves of enemies rushing your position WILL force you out into the open for a big firefight. This is compounded by the somewhat poorly implemented weapon wheel. Changing from a single silenced pistol, for example, to dual wielding a laser and a shotgun, takes several awkward seconds- not great when there's a wall of hot lead coming your way.
    Now for the good:
From a storytelling standpoint, The New Colossus picks up where The New Order left off, both temporally and stylistically. The narrative, dialogue, setting, and characters are at once hyperbolic caricatures, yet endearingly real feeling. For a game that is all about action, I was surprised to find myself relishing the sometimes-lengthy, dialogue-heavy cutscenes. W2:TNC knows how much fun its world and characters are, and it's not afraid to let them speak for themselves during these cutscenes. They pull it off, too. If I have a criticism of the storytelling, it is that it lacks some of the deft-handed subtlety that was present in, for example, the sequence where BJ goes for coffee on the train to Berlin in the first game.
That said, there are plenty of memorable moments. The middle of the game packs some of the most narratively bold sequences I've ever seen in a game. The secret sauce here is found in the way W2:TNC can crank the lunacy up to 11, and yet still make you feel so much; you don't get jaded to it.
There's more I could say about the storytelling, but the brass tacks of any game are found in the moment to moment mechanics, and W2:TNC feels best when you embrace the chaos and dive into the fray, guns blazing. The AI isn't terribly smart, but it is aggressive, and can damage you quickly if you allow yourself to be swarmed, so movement and efficiency are key. If receiving damage lacks feedback, dealing out damage certainly does not. Weapons feel weighty in your hands, fire with satisfying sound and animation, and eviscerate enemies in a way that would make you feel a little bad for them if they weren't *litertally* nazis. The game does begin a little slow, but as your arsenal of weapons and skills increases, combat becomes an amusing playground of high-impact ways to pulp the baddies.
At times the level design leaves something to be desired, but even dull maps come to life under the superb creative direction TNC retains from its predecessor. Not every environment lives up to this promise fully, but the ones that do make a very strong impression.

I always select the most difficult settings on all FPS games to both challenge myself and to get the maximum enjoyment and longevity out of the game. I have tried to do the same with Wolfenstein II The New Colossus however , the stages are poorly designed , enemies spawn in weird places and I am left with the feeling that even if I made it past a certain check point that it was sometimes it was simply down to dumb luck and not any actual skill in any way. Believe me I have repeated sections over and over again with pin point accuracy only to die randomly by a single sometimes unknown shot. It feels more like trying to solve a puzzle than it does a skill based FPS shooter. I suppose for those casual gamers who don't play on the most difficult setting won't find it so frustrating but for hardcore FPS fans it can be a unwelcome grind.

Let me start off by saying that the game is good. Really, it is. There are a great many things to love here, so if you don't care about story or atmosphere and just about the pure gameplay, you'll probably have a blast. The game has great set-pieces and it's a joy going on a killing spree.
However, there are two minor issues and one big problem that, in my eyes, keep it from being great.

However, there are two minor issues and one big problem that, in my eyes, keep it from being great.

    1. Maybe it's just me Navigating through the levels can be a bit confusing. There were several times, I didn't know where to go, because the game doesn't do a very good job at pointing you in the right direction.

    2. The levels are a bit on the short side and while I appreciate the fact, that no level overstays its welcome, it still often felt more like a funfair ride rather than an immersive gaming experience.

    3. This was the most jarring element of the game: The overall tone of the game. Now, bear in mind, that this is purely a matter of taste. But let's be real: We don't play the Wolfenstein series, because we want an even semi-realistic simulation of a world under Nazi rule. There are other, better games for that kind of oppressive experience. We play it, so we can have some mindless fun. And that's why the games many dark and serious scenes just felt totally out of place, The game is full of ridiculous ideas and we *are* still playing as JB, a true killing machine, who's mowing down enemies by the hundreds. So, when the moribund protagonist suddenly starts oozing pathos, talking to dead friends about death and glory it just feels .... wrong.
I really don't want to take a game like Wolfenstein too seriously, because if I did, I'd have to start questioning its logic and moral implications. The game wants to be "Inglorious Basterds" and (tonally) "The Walking Dead" at the same time. And, at least for me, that simply didn't work and made me feel rather uncomfortable, *especially* since, as monsters go, we're not talking about orcs, vampires or even zombies here, but about a group of real people who killed real people. And I simply can't overlook that fact anymore, once a game like this asks me to take it seriously.

The opening hours of Wolfenstein II are great and promising. The story is excellent, setting up an epic tale of revenge and rebellion, while also including plenty of strange humor and campy dialogue similar to that of a Tarantino movie. The gameplay is also solid, with fluid, fun and insanely violent gun mechanics and stealth kills. There is also a weapons crafting system (mostly shallow) and perks system that allows you to gain upgrades and abilities based on your style of play, which I liked since it allows for you to constantly improve in your playing style.

But, as the game wears on, it loses its steam and becomes inconsistent in its delivery of thrills and epic story moments. After the first few hours, there are several sections of levels that are repetitive and have very similar environments (grey, dreary military base settings with lots of red lights). Also, the story also slows down, and although it isn't meant to be taken completely seriously, there are not as many powerful or epic moments as there are in the beginning of the game. There are few enemy types, which isn't a problem at first but it does become formulaic and uninteresting to fight groups of these enemies. Finally, the enemy AI in regards to stealth is wildly inconsistent: there were times when I was crouched a few feet away in front of an enemy and they did not see me, but then there were times when I was 20 feet away hiding around a corner and I was detected for making a slight twitch.

But in the end, even after the excellent first few hours of Wolfenstein II, there are still several powerful story moments and fun action sequences throughout the rest of the game, they are just fewer and further in between. Wolfenstein II is a ride worth taking, but ideally if you can pick it up for $20 or less.

The 10/10 people who like to repeatedly talk about the facf that the game is good because you kill Nazis in it. And, the people who rate it 0/10 because of the graphics or inclusion of any political motivation and agenda. However, I know the majority of those people aren't Nazi sympathizers as a few have put it because there wasn't an issue in the past two Wolfenstein games. I don't see an issue when people rate COD:WW2 low. So it's disgusting that people continually point the finger at a deeper cause because it's just too unbelievable that some people (as with any game) are just unimpressed with a franchise that has quite literally outdone itself.

I also have no problem with the killing of Nazis as I have found many WW2 games going back to Wolf 3D and Medal of Honor Frontline, as well as, New Order, and The Old Blood to be masterpieces. I mean, you go to the Moon in TNO and you go to Castle Wolfenstein in the latter. There's also wayyyy better humor in The Old Blood. Particularly when BJ says he's from Frankfurt and Americans would call him a "hot dog". I have played through the game three times just for those moments. Anyway, this game has magic. But, it has no new magic. Just some more modern "righteousness" against those controlling, racist, fat shaming monsters you see in the game. It's surprisingly inclusive to women though. Overall I'm just opposed to any kind of politically motivated messages hidden inside media. I'd prefer story writers and devs to come up with something they find inspiring regardless of the current political climate. Nintendo is a prime example. They've always created a diverse cast in their games because it fit their need for making things fresh. They weren't doing it to send subliminal messages and they're not fascists for not wanting to.

Back to the game's content though, I found the graphics to be on par with preivious games. The game's length is fine. It's not an RPG. I don't judge a game by inclusion of multiplayer. I surely wouldn't for The Legend of Zelda. The weapons and gunplay are okay but as stated it is the same from before. Chracter interaction is mostly believable. I seriously doubt BJ's dad would marry his mother just for money or status. People did some odd things back then but American Christians have always been very firm in tradition which would conflict with his Jewish mother's upbringing. Something BJs father was obviously concerned about. And if i have any reasons to subtract the game's score its:
-the opening level is the least interesting I've played in a Wolfenstein (including 3D)
-BJ is still ripped after laying around for 5 months
-the game's marketing insists punching Nazis is what the franchise is about (it's historically been about keeping super weapons out of Nazi hands. Someone clearly failed)
-it involves killing Wehrmacht Soldaten but I can't even use a 1911, M1 Garand, or Springfield 03 and it makes me sick people would applaud the mediocre opportunities to kill Nazis without pure American weapons.
-There's almost no American patriotism in the game either (there's some flags and otherwise around I was glad to see.) I just wish I could see more from BJs military background and indoctrination that gives him his loyalty and will to fight. So the game is hardly pro-American as well.

It's just disgusting. If there's any politically charged content at least make up for it with an appearance of George Patton or Harry Truman, or take us on a tour of the White House. Or show Manhattan? And where in the hell are the Japanese? Surely they were in on it? I know I'm jumping around here but I'm confused now. There's just a lot of opportunity lost and all because like Mass Effect: Andromeda, the focus changed mid-series all because of marketing and cash grabbing.

The story was the main strength of this game to me. I felt so invested in the characters and their struggle. The main character may not be the most exciting or charismatic hero, but I cannot help but love him. He has watched a lot of his friends die and he just wants the struggle to be over. The characters range from crazy and likable to evil and psychotic. The cut scenes are some of the strongest moments in this game, for me. I love to just sit and watch them like it is a movie as they make the characters seem so real and believable and I just wanted to see them prevail.

The gameplay, however, is a mixed bag. Sure it feels fun to slash through Nazis but the game is actually much more slower paced. You are forced to often hide behind cover and slowly make your way through enemies and it sucks a lot of the enjoyment out of just ripping everyone up. The levels are also really simple, and that wouldn't be a problem, if they weren't so simple they weren't fun. The game mainly has you traverse through confusing areas killing a few enemies and then moving onto the next. If the game wasn't so slow than this would be a lot more fun, sort of similar to Doom (2016). Most of the time, I just wanted to get through the levels as soon as possible so I could immerse myself in the characters and story.

In short, this game managed to keep me drawn into the story and characters with its movie like cut scenes and interesting plot points but gameplay often felt like more of a chore than fun some of the time.

In some scenes it was happening over a dozen times before I had to simply switch it to the lowest difficulty. It shouldn't be so hard! It should be fun to kill the bloody nazis and not a chore.. Something the devs could've fixed with a patch was the feedback of you being shot. You just don't get that you're about to die until it's too late. The upgrade system in the game is miserable and the three abilities you're given are hardly necessary and only have to be used because of the level design. Speaking of which...It's a classic Bethesda world which I don't particularly like, but it's a matter of taste I guess. Anyway. I had to put the game on hold because I simple wasn't enjoying it and finished it almost a month after just to get rid of it. The upgrade system is also very cool, allowing you to upgrade your weapons tailored to YOUR gameplay style. Speaking of style, the game has a lot of it. Duel-wielding weapons, falling after getting hit by a grenade, killing Nazis with their own lasers; it is all good stuff and kept me smiling the whole time. I entered this franchise with RTCW: Tides of War back on the original Xbox. It is one of my favourite games of all time, so naturally I compare all the sequels to it. The first two games were passable, this one is as well, barely.

I could easily give this game less than a 5, but I do have to point out the good parts of it which make it passable.

First off, the gun play is great in my opinion, I like the recoil, I like the heavy variants of weapons, and I like the sounds effects of all the weapons. The weapon upgrading system is also a neat touch, but not too amazing from an innovative point of view.

Second, the perk system is great for adapting to your style of play, whether it is stealth based or guns blazing, perks are earned around your play style and are not too overpowering.

Third, I think the game looks pretty great. I have read on other reviews that they have been having issues with FPS and whatnot (more so on PC), but on PS4 Pro on 4K, the game looks great.

The positives end there unfortunately. The negatives tempted me to give this game a failing score.

As others have mentioned before me, video games are an escape from reality, and used as time to unwind. THEY ARE NOT meant to be a platform for voicing your political concerns as a developer, whether it was Bethesda or Machine Games, gamers do not need, nor want, political ideologies (left or right) injected into these games. It is an absolute disgrace to push a leftist ideology and draw parallels between a nazi-controlled United States and the Trump administration. LEAVE IT OUT.

I do not support Trump and I have no problem with the nazi killing aspect, as this was what Wolfenstein has always been about. I just do not believe that ideologies should be pushed in this type of platform.

Beyond that glaringly obvious con, the enemy AI is really questionable sometimes. There are moments when you can be crouched in plain sight and they will not detect you. It really ruins the challenge and immersion.

Why on Earth would you ever include this sensitive, emotional, and (again) political background story for BJ? He is now someone who grew up with an abusive, racist father, who did not approve of his interracial childhood friendship? This completely ruins the tough, relentless, borderline psychotic, personality that BJ had through the first couple entries in the franchise. This may not matter to some people, but to me, they softened BJ up completely and killed some of the immersion built up from the previous games. Hard to accept as a life long ID Software fan.

Characters are somewhat weak, with a few good ones mixed in. Story is nothing amazing, and seems pretty sarcastic at some points. Definitely not meant to be taken seriously. Alongside this, the level design seems a bit poor, kind of makes some of the gun fights seem repetitive.

Overall, I cannot bring myself to give this game higher than a 5, I had high expectations for Bethesda to make this game great after The New Order laid out a solid foundation, and after I played the masterpiece that was Doom, my expectations went even higher, and this probably hurt the value for me in the end. There just wasn't enough innovation and improvement over the predecessor to justify a higher score or $60 price tag. Bethesda should definitely consider bringing more ideas from ID back to this franchise, if a third instalment is planned.

I don't know what it is but the gunplay just doesn't sit well with me. I can hold my own in Destiny/COD/Battlefield but here I struggle a bit. Couple that with the unnecessarily hard difficulty (hardly any health, getting flanked out of no where) and it just makes me angry.

Split right in the middle between a crappy first half and an awesome second, Wolfenstein 2 could have been a true legend and a round 10. As soon as it lets that go however - it shines. The action picks up, the plot picks up, the levels become varied and incredible.

Overall - I loved it. I love the new Wolfenstein series. But if you don't like them, or aren't willing to push through and annoying first few hours... avoid it. And for the love of god, consider playing it on an easier difficulty than you're used to, it is DAMN hard.

And remember - killing Nazis, even fictional ones, is always, ALWAYS good.

I've been playing it for a couple of days but I'm not sure I will bother to finish it anytime soon because it's very disappointing compared to the original. If you were a huge fan of the New Order’s majestic art direction, strategic stealth component and highly engaging characters and story, you are likely to be as disappointed as I am so far by this bland sequel. Where the original had the perfect combination of difficulty, ease of use, stealth and truly original character development and story, this is much more two dimensional with the stealth component all but completely removed. It's virtually impossible to sneak up on the enemy in any scenario and even harder to find a Commander before he sets of his alarm to call in reinforcements. So over and over again, the only way to accomplish the mission is to go in full-on guns blazing and just hope you don't get decimated, which all too often happens, even on the easier settings. Also, one of the best things about the original was that there was always a logical (if sometimes difficult to see) way to defeat the enemies in any given level. Not so here. No rhyme or reason to the attack plan.

Graphics are fine but not nearly as compelling emotionally in my opinion. This game is much more claustrophobic and repetitive. All in all a major disappointment, given how much I loved the original. It's just flat creatively. And the aiming of the guns seems troublesome compared to the first. I wouldn't pay anywhere near full price for this - I'm not thrilled that I got it for less than full price frankly. The developers got lazy with this one. I decided to get unlazy with this one and write my first review to try to save fans of the first one some disappointment. Sorry to say but it's true. The people who are comparing this highly to the original game clearly didn’t love what was so compelling and unique about the orIginal in the first place.

The previous title was incredible for its depth given it was a balls-to-the-walls shooter based around killing Nazis. You were able to choose how you wanted to complete the game, be it stealth or mayhem. The sequel, unfortunately, gives you the illusion of being able to do the same, but punishes you for choosing anything but the safest, stealthiest route. Despite being clad in futuristic armor, most of the game is spent in fear of actually alerting an enemy, as said armor seems to be made of cardboard; leaving the player shredded to pieces at the slightest whiff of a battle.

Then there's the plot. This game plays like the straight-to-DVD sequel that fans wished hadn't come out at all. The characters (like the main characters armor) are paper-thin, being entirely defined by overdone tropes. Any semblance of emotional engagement is disrupted by literal potty humor, and the main character "Terror Billy" spends most of the game lamenting how horribly bent out of shape he is. I kept waiting for the good part to start, but was let down as the woe-is-me attitude from the main character came to be a story staple.

I like to think that the series ended after The New Order, as suffering through this game was a chore I wouldn't wish on anyone who enjoyed the first.

Admittedly, the story is nothing special, albeit does feature some very poignant moments with the introduction of BJ’s backstory and his relationship with his father. Predictable plot twists, and unbelievable moments of “WTF?” take center stage here. But, let’s be honest, the gameplay is what shines here. BJ’s fluidity means that he can pull off amazing moves all while dual welding guns, and with the new axe you get from the get go, it provides gamers with multiple ways of encountering and dealing with enemies. I have never felt a shooter handle so effortlessly like this one, I was able to pull off amazing moves, and it helps when every enemy you kill feels satisfying in some way. Top that off with a maze like level design that makes sure you can play stealthy or go guns blazing. This is how gameplay in a shooter should be done. The New Colossus runs you in at about 8 hours of gameplay, which is disappointing for a 80 dollar game, but it’s the moments in between, the gameplay that adds the replay value. Expand

The story could probably be the main reason you'd buy and play the game, even if you are not into first person shooters it's definitely worth to play for the story itself.

I'd really like everyone who consider themselves "a gamer" to consider buying this and supporting fair singleplayer game with great story, these become more and more uncommon nowadays, unfortunately.

After mostly positive reviews, I decided to pick this game up and boy, oh boy, I was not dissatisfied.

Game starts almost instantly after first part ends, you still playing for BJ. From the first minutes game makes you understand that it is very creative and original. First minutes of the game you can not walk and have to use wheelchair for movement. Then you realize that game mechanocs are improved and shooting feels fluent and fast paced and very satisfying, I would say shooting is the best part of this game. Elga is back and she is a very fun vilian, all scenes with her are so memorable. Soundtrack is rad and feels badass. There is some non shooting moments in the game and I think these moments are reasons why this game can consider as an art. Tarantino aspired moments its what will stuck in my head for a long time.
Sometimes I did not like how game was transitioning in game cutscenes to pre rendered ones. It feels very woobly. The biggest problem for me is the ending. It feels rushed and abrupt. I do not understand why most of the games nowadays have weak ending.
But overall is a very enjoyable game and I finished it in few sittings.

I never played a Wolfenstein game before, but I got this one because I liked the trailer at Papa Johns. I'm happy I got it because it is one of the best shooters I played in a long time. The story and characters are excellently written. I was looking for a challenge too, so I picked the hardest difficulty on my first play and got a brutal beatdown for every mistake I made.

The best shooter I've played for last 10 years.
Full of humor, blood, and the Nazis of course. I'm lovin' it!
It's a great sequel. And I wish that Bethesda and MachineGames will do the third part. I recommend it.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is an FPS that makes a ton of good to great decisions, but also a handful of poor ones. Tightly crafted gameplay is marred by adherence to genre conventions, and the narrative gets off to a slow start as the game decides what it wants to be. However, neither of those are enough to drag this down too much, as it is simply too well put together and has more than enough personality and fun to poke through the layer of seriousness draped over the first parts of the campaign. What is left is a game that can stand as a very fine example of its genre, if not quite a groundbreaking one.

The second part continues in the footsteps of its predecessor and does not bring any major changes. However, it brings a hectic, explosive action accompanied by an excellent, though sometimes too exaggerative story.

Shocking, silly and brutal, BJ's comeback spins an enjoyable, if tonally confused, yarn. Despite its issues, this is still a rollicking thoughtfully driven shooter. [Christmas 2017, p.93]
