CD-ActionOct 15, 2020A somewhat flawed port of an excellent XCOM cousin. There are some bugs and performance issues, and the included Heretek expansion disappointed me with the straightforwardness of its battles, but I will always recommend Mechanicus regardless of the platform. [10/2020, p.88]

Aug 18, 2020Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus is incredibly intriguing and draws in the player with its world-building and tone. The art and music provide just enough to pique one's interest, but as a game, Mechanicus leaves a lot to be desired. I makes itself into such a cookie-cutter experience that progression doesn't feel rewarding, and it reduces the battles to pauses in narrative progression. Top that off with insufferably written narrators, and you get an experience that's tough to sell. The concept and world of Mechanicus are interesting, but the follow-through, laced with lethargic gameplay and sometimes indecipherable characters, is lacking.

Playstation Official Magazine UKJul 30, 2020This is visually bare-bones and an incredibly sloppy port of the PC original. The menus have an eye-jittering delay that makes navigating a chore. Worse still, hard crashes occur every 20 minutes in the final third of the story, forcing you to replay tombs already conquered. It’s hard to recommend a game that punishes you with its bugs. Pray for this one. [Issue#178, p.82]
