Finally! A game with two super smart female leads, both of whom are POC, and not hyper-sexualized character design. That alone makes this game a breakthrough in the industry. The fact that it plays beautifully and is INCREDIBLY acted (thanks to excellent writing), definitely doesn't hurt either. I dare say this is my favorite entry since Uncharted 2... but I must admit I like the freshness of these characters better than Nathan Drake, who - lets face it - is basically just a modified Indiana Jones clone. Chloe and Nadine's relationship is really fun to watch unfold, and it made me really want to play the game to the end just to see how they both turned out. I really hope we see another entry with these two in the leads. Expand

This is just a cash grab to try to extend the life of uncharted. They obviously had second thoughts on retiring Drake, so now they're doing their best to keep the cash cow alive. A boring rehash. Save your money for better games

Quite literally the worst game I have ever played. Complete garbage. At no point was this game fun, exciting or interesting. Nadine and Chloe are completely different characters than in other games and are completely uninteresting. The "open" area portion of the game is a garbage scavenger hunt. The rest of the game is a series of hoop jumping that literally goes nowhere.

Incredibly mediocre game, everything about the UC is a strong narrative and story, the gameplay is extremely lacking and is more of a walking simulator with constant B-tier bantering. Climb a bit, wait for the inevitable edge, that will crumble. Everything is just so subpar and i dont understand the constant praise this game gets. Avoid at all costs

Alas the once promising indie developer known for creating such little titles as crash bandycoot has forgotten who and what they are and simply have gone far over their heads displaying incredibly grotesque arrogance in this monstrosity of a so called "video game". I'll start my review off with a quote from a great scholar "stay in your lane", unfortunately this is something that the Naughty Dogs have forgotten and have performed what can only be described as a cataclysmic mishap of gigantic proportions it simply boggles the mind. In such hard times we need creative people to be a source for creativity, this "game" was created by no such creative people. As the third game in the once popular "Uncharted" it fails to impress and live up to the once great genre known as "Action Adventure rpg" now on its death bed. Granted I was no fan of the original Uncharted, as it was in my humble opinion Laura Croft: Toxic Masculinity Edition. Naughty Dog seems to be trying to correct the first misogynistic title by creating some female character last minute because they know it will make more money. Well little heads up buckos I ain't buying it (< figure of speech, don't @ me ok or I will report u)
(Note: I did in fact purchase this video game)

Proves that the Uncharted series has viability beyond Nathan Drake. The best puzzles in the series yet, some great combat encounters that feel fresh, and interesting use of "Semi-open world" in some sections which I think fits neatly in the franchise. I know they're focusing on The Last of Us II now (and oh boy, I can't wait) but I hope this isn't the last thing Naughty Dog ever do with Uncharted.

If you have played Uncharted 4, you are likely going to dislike this game because its story is not as interesting as in the previous title. Moreover, game design and level design seem to be "a little bit" limited at some point, but that is just my observations. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this game to those who enjoy PS4 exclusives and Uncharted games.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (from now on UTLL) started life as an Uncharted 4 DLC but it was expanded into a full game. It's a shorter and leaner entry in the series, cutting some of the fat, but doesn't bring much new.

UTLL is the same Uncharted you know and love, with a few gameplay additions. Stealth plays a bigger role in this game relative to Uncharted 4 so you've got the silenced pistol and more high grass to hide in, while enemies have the same triangle indicators to let you know when you're about to be discovered. But I mostly enjoyed the open map where you can freely explore locations in any sequence with the jeep. This area is littered with little puzzles and platforming challenges.

But this is where positives end. UTLL is just another Uncharted game, same old same but less of it. Big set-pieces are fewer and lesser than in previous games. Don't expect anything as bombastic as Uncharted 2's train sequence or Uncharted 3's airplane scene. The jeep's handling is weird and buffled me compared to Uncharted 4, and it's too bad they didn't add some environmental puzzles with the jeep's rope. This game's supposed to be more open, but invisible walls (or knee-high obstacles that are just impossible to jump over) make an appearance. Last but not least, this game's story just doesn't have Nathan Drake's charm. While Chloe and Nadine have some nice dialogue and character progression, they can't possibly carry a game on their own the same way as the trusty trio of Nate, Sully and Elena. Also Sam Drake's inclusion is so much forced that feels out of place. Final boss is another forgettable Uncharted boss.

Overall UTLL is a nice entry in the series, but it's certainly not the best. If there is a new Uncharted game in the future, either a sequel or a reboot, I just hope Nate comes back. And gameplay needs some serious re-design, like God of War re-invented itself.

The game contains cut and paste mechanics found in Uncharted 4 like gunplay, climbing, and overall movement. A new lock picking mechanic was added into the game but ultimately works as a gimmick that doesn’t really add anything to the game other than making you feel like a skilled thief. The biggest gripe I have with this game is that it lacks simple charm found in other Uncharted games with Nathan Drake at the helm. The chemistry between Chloe and Nadine often feels a bit forced and awkward whereas Nathan and Sully’s interactions in past games seem very organic and real. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy receives an 8 of out 10. If you're a die-hard Uncharted fan you'll likely enjoy the short and sweet romp that Lost Legacy offers but I feel that it’s a bit overpriced at $40. What the series always delivers is a cinematic, bombastic and beautiful gaming experience and this is more of the same. The main (only) key change is having Chloe and Nadine, two of the series most interesting secondary characters, take centre-stage in lieu of Nathan Drake. This is such a welcome break and the two new protagonists here are tougher, more likable and more complex than Nathan ever was. It was a joy to see their companionship grow through the game and I would definitely not be against them taking up the next few entries too.

Replacing the continent-hopping grandeur of the main series games, this episode focuses on a single semi-open world location, the Indian Western Ghats. This is a stroke of genius given the underlying theme of the games - exploration and treasure hunting. Uncharted 4's Madagascar section gave us a taste of what to expect, but the Ghats are more stunning and alive than anything seen before. Of course, there are more linear tomb/cave/car chase sections interspersed, but the mid-section exploring the environment was a joyful experience, with plenty of collectibles and Easter eggs.

Gameplay is standard Uncharted and mostly works. I always find combat sections in Uncharted really unfairly weighted, and indeed this is no different. Firefights often boil down to repeatedly dying due to some gattling gun wielding foe and trying again and again til you find a way round. Stealth seems a bit broken, and I experienced more than a few niggles in the general maneuvering controls. Ultimately, it is functional, and gameplay is far from the strength of these games. Marveling at the absolutely ridiculous graphics, working out some truly clever puzzles, scraping through meticulous action set pieces by the skin of your teeth, this is what these games are about.

While not groundbreaking in any way and occasionally frustrating control-wise, this is a fantastic way to spend 6-10 hours and is as close to playing an action-thriller movie as you'll ever get. The shift in narrative focus away from Nathan is going to do wonders for the series, as Chloe especially is one of the most charismatic videogame characters I've ever witnessed. However, for Uncharted 5, if it comes to be, there needs to be some new mechanics introduced or an even more extensive open level, as it is definitely under risk of becoming one-note.

Disgusting game with really stupid characters. Dialogs are really so unnatural, the plot is not intrseting and 3500 hours of climbing in the mountains. Have I payed for a climbing simulator? The only intresting character is Sam. Hope one day there will be a game about this man!

For me this is the best game in the Uncharted series, because it is more focused (shorter) and has more emphasis on exploration than combat. Pacing is outstanding, graphics are the best they've ever been and locations are gorgeous.

This game became trash from the moment Nadine came in. I and obviously everyone wanted to see Chloe and Cutter once again, but what do we get? A character that no one likes and doesn't even make sense at all. In Uncharted 4 she could easily beat up Nate and Sam in a fight at the same time, despite Nate beating up for example: a group of about 20 pirates and a brute earlier in his career, and now Nadine CAN'T even handle Asav (which btw is the second worst villain in the series) while trying to beat him up in pair with Chloe. I was excited to see Chloe inaction as a main protagonist, but Nadine just ruined it all. The worst thing about it all is that Naughty Dog made them both bisexual by referring to them as 'Chlodine' and even making fan arts with them marrying. That is the worst idea you could possibly think of. I was glad that at least we got Sam but he was there for like 2-3 chapters and it just didn't repair the hole that Nadine already made by her existence in the Uncharted universe. Coming back to Asav, he was so boring. You don't really see him that much, only in fights similiar to those from UC4 when you can't even land a single hit. Although i must admit the boss fight was pretty good, and i even made sure that i'll let Asav win over Nadine a few times. There was like only one good plot part (at least one that i remember) which was Chloe finding out that her Dad made it. But besides that game is **** It even had the worst ending in every game that i have ever played, instead of doing it like previous entries did (credits rolling with the Nate's theme / original soundtrack playing) they gave us some random pop music (it wasn't bad it just didn't fit) which doesn't match. It made it more like some crappy movie for teenagers. For the plot itself it wasn't maybe that bad but it was just boring as hell when it turned out one chapter is basically the half of the game (btw the game took me 6 hours to complete and i lost like 3 hours on chapter 4 because it's a crappy open-world level where you have to use the crank 4 times with the same sequence all over again: 1.fight 2.nadine talking 3.crank. 4.nadine talking. 5.going back to car 6. nadine talking. And it just repeated several times and made it so boring). Leaving the plot, gameplay and graphics were boring as hell. It was basically UC4 but with added ONE mechanic, OPENING BOXES / DOORS QUICK TIME EVENT! I understand that it is a expansion to UC4 but at least they could've tried. I'm gonna admit the train part was the best segment of the entire fanfic i mean game, and it was probably better than the one in UC2 which is the only reason i'm giving this pile of sh- i mean DLC a 2/10 instead of 1/10. The puzzles were somewhat good, but they reminded me of the best ones from the original trilogy. My conclusion is: Lost Legacy is a high-budget fanfic that is worth playing once to see how crap it is and then never play it again, or play just for Chloe. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The game rarely feels repetitive, every puzzle is different from each other, and there is also an open area in the middle of the game where you can explore, which was implemented very well.

As for Chloe and Nadine, they make a pretty nice duo, where's Chloe is likeable and a goofball, Nadine is the opposite, she's aggressive and focuses on her mission. I liked their chemistry and I think both characters work very well together.

And now for the negatives, the story isn't necessarily bad, it's just very generic and there are no stakes. Also, in my personal opinion, the biggest flaw the game has is that there are barely any highlights in it, almost no action except from the last chapter, which is a complete letdown considering how the action is literally the best part about this series.

Overall it's very solid, and for its size it's definitely worth checking out, a great stand-alone expansion.

    Final Rating: "Good" ~ 7/10.

Filled with great characters, storytelling, exhilarating action sequences, fluid game play, and just pure visual artistry. It is a gaming franchise that has yet to include a disappointing addition. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which is a spin-off of the original series, continues naughtydog's golden streak. By the end having created a new piece of gaming gold, even if I did have my reservations in the beginning.

For a while The Lost Legacy contains the relentless pacing and breathtaking action, reminding the player they are in good hands. But once chapter 4 arrived, which takes a turn into a more "open world" territory, this was the one weak section for me. As I'm generally not the greatest when it comes to open world games, I found myself doing a lot of driving and walking around, and frequently checking my map wondering where it was I was supposed to be getting to progress to the next chapter. Though I was never bored during this section, it did slow the game down a bit. Of course, this isn't a fault of the creators, and in retrospect I'd like to explore that area even more if I ever return to the game, to come upon the many treasures and tokens I'm sure I missed. Because I had yet to reach chapter 5, and had no idea what greatness awaited me.

Fortunately, once you find you have progressed to the next chapter, the store and action really goes into full gear, and at times rivals even the greatest moments of the entire Uncharted franchise. From climbing up a crumbling temple, to clever and rewarding puzzles, to action set pieces that truly get the heart racing. You really feel back at home in the familiar Uncharted territory, and it's pretty awesome at times.

A late in the game train sequence possibly tops the already epic train sequence in the early Uncharted sequels (I believe 2) in its escalating intensity and mayhem. It mixes the best aspects of the ground breaking car chase in Uncharted 4, with the aforementioned train chase in Uncharted 2, and it is exciting and thrilling and exhausting in the best way possible. Without feeling like a useless rehash.

Surprisingly, the best moment in the entire game involves no puzzles or shoot outs at all, but a sweet moment involving an elephant returning to its family. It's a simple but touching moment that goes to show how masterful the naughtydog and Uncharted team really are. It's a moment to take a breath and admire the beauty of it all, to bond with the characters, while just happening to be riding on the back of an elephant feeding it fruit. It's these little touches that elevates Uncharted from simply good games to masterpieces. And thankfully gives the player a chance to take a breather in between all the near deaths. Not many games have these special little moments, which is what takes this series to a different level than other games.

If there is one minor nitpick, it is in the villain. While effective enough and with great voice acting, when all is said and done he's just simply not all that complex or original. Vile, yes, but nothing we haven't said before. Though it's undeniably fun to kick the crap out of him.

So here we go again. NaughtyDog knocks it out of the park. The Lost Legacy may not be a flawless classic like previous entries, but it's still a near-great video game, and it's worth it for the second half alone, which is highly rewarding and genuinely exciting stuff. The kick ass femme twist is just the cherry on top. In a way, it's exactly the game we need right now. Strong, intelligent, human, fearless, female characters who also know a thing or two about beating their foes to death and doesn't need a male to guide them. They're simply the best.

At first, I confess, I missed Drake. It felt weird without him, like the joy of the game was missing. But this feeling was slowly replaced by a sense of curiosity and admiration towards Chloe and her partner, Nadine. They are great characters; they work well together, they are funny, they are fierce, their banter is entertaining and, in the end, they show that they can do as much damage as Nathan Drake.

On top of it all, there is a sweet - and necessary - message to the female gaming community. More games with female leads are not supposed to be a gimmick, they are needed, and Naughty Dog knows how to do it. Lara Croft is trying to do this, for years, but they still make the same old mistakes of putting her under a sexual perspective, where - as a woman - besides dealing with thugs and traps, she is also needs to deal with rape etc. With Lost Legacy, it makes no difference that the protagonists are women; the enemies react to the danger, not the gender. And I think that is pretty cool.

Awesome game, loved it from start to finish.

I was going to give this an 8/10 but the game redeems itself so well from the hum-drum of chapter 4 I couldn't do it. If you like Uncharted games you will like or love this game Drake is not needed in the slightest and I'd argue Chloe makes a better main character.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Despite the developers trying to distance themselves from Uncharted 4, Lost Legacy is still an oversized and mind you, overpriced DLC. This is basically Uncharted in miniature, with your standard plot about another ancient city, villain with a private army and main characters bantering constantly, as well as obligatory action setpieces.

Now overall I enjoyed the game, but I do have two main issues with it.

First, in its gameplay LL leans strongly towards exploration and climbing rather than fast-paced action, which is a trend set in the original U4, and a trend I don't fully appreciate. While I did like the small sandbox area which is basically your Madagascar level from Uncharted 4 but slightly bigger, the overall pacing was too slow for me, even if it did pick up in the last quarter of the game. LL is now more classic Tomb Raider than the recent Rise of the Tomb Raider. It's also worth mentioning that gameplay-wise there is absolutely nothing new here, but that's forgivable as it's a standalone DLC.

Secondly, I am not at all impressed by the game's characters. I do believe that there can be an Uncharted game without Nathan Drake, but what I saw here just doesn't cut it. Chloe herself with her cheap family drama and a sudden morality boost in the end is unconvincing. Nadine Ross wasn't my favorite character in the base game, and neither she is here. Her quick turn from a villain to a trustworthy sidekick is something out of a Fast & Furious movie with Jason Statham, and that's obviously not a compliment. Their in-game banter and chemistry also isn't nearly as engaging as that of Nate and Sully. And finally, spoiler alert, Sam Drake. I thought him to be an unnecessary and implausible addition to the story in U4 and the weakest side character of the franchise, but here he is just reduced to a simple comic relief, a goof who is openly mocked, patronized and even hit by the main female duo. And this female dominance SJW theme shows firmly throughout the game, with there even being dialogue along the lines of "Ah, so glad to finally work with a woman.". Or Ross sharing how she broke both legs of a man who wanted to back out of a deal because she was female, with her and Chloe laughing about it lightheartedly. I respect Naughty Dog, but I also sincerely hope that its head Neil Druckmann would stop shoving his cuck agenda in their games.

So, to sum up, it's more of Uncharted 4, but with worse writing than before. It took me 6 hours 44 minutes to beat it, according to the statistics, and I did take my time with the side tokens and some treasure hunting, so the game is pretty short for its base price tag of 40$. It's currently 50% off on the Black Friday sale, so this might be a good time to get it.

Character movement is fluid and lifelike from facial expressions to overall movement. Controls are intuitive. Voice acting is simply the best, and the story is decent if somewhat simplistic. If you're looking for a shooter, you should probably look elsewhere. While the combat mechanics are just fine, this is a game about story and puzzles first. Guns and killing second. As with other Naughty Dog entries, this is essentially an action movie, complete with set pieces and staged sequences that are stellar. But if you're not interested in narrative, dialogue and feeling like you're in a film, go play Call of Duty or whatever.

Comparisons to Lara Croft are inevitable and only prove that there are too few video game protagonists that are strong female leads. I would argue that the new Tomb Raider games borrow more from Uncharted than the flip. But it's hard for any game not to have elements of others without completely reinventing the controls and gameplay rulebook. An appearance by Sam Drake later in the game adds the only real male element other than the bad guys, and he's really not at all necessary to the plot.

    Highly recommended.

It took me 10 hours to get to the credit screen and what a ride it was. This time this adventure was all about Chloe and Nadine and let me tell you, this wonderful, colorful world does not need Nathan to mesmerize you with its beauty, this rich in detail world created by Naughty Dog is just that good. Wonderful landscapes, towering monuments, hidden cities, puzzles, animations, voice acting, artwork - all of which masterfully done. Game has some re playability and I intend to finish it at least two more times so for money I paid for it I consider it to be tremendous value for money. You embark on the journey to find legendary indian artifact. Both Chloe and Nadine's motives are different but interest are more or less aligned which made them team up on this quest. This might be the best uncharted game yet. Visually stunning. All the set pieces are amazing and game slowly opens up to the wonderful big finale. This game is worth getting. Absolutely essential addition to your Uncharted collection or a good reason for newcomers to explore Uncharted universe more. Expand

If Naughty Dog were Marvel, Lost legacy would be Antman of Uncharted. Mundane and unsubstantial. Too afraid to be a real comedy and too filler to be a real blockbuster. The final fight still has some kicks, though.

    * Chloe is hot af, smart and funny. Not even closely as funny as Drake though.
    * Water is so beautiful in this game.

    Cons:
    * It's a rehash of previous Uncharted games. No new mechanics, locations or anything. So feels like a cliche of a cliche.
    * Nadine is a buzzkill. All the dialogue with her is meh.
    * This game is too realistic to the point of being boring. Like taking photos during sightseeing? Seriously?
    * Half of the puzzles feel like a chore not like fun.
    * Also, I hate fights with Asav so much, oh my god. I was dying again and again for no good reason.
    * In general, there is simply no attention to detail or real conflict here. Feels more like a solid DLC than a real game.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is my favorite game in the series. Everything just clicked for me. Not having Nathan Drake was a little weird at first, but I got used to Chloe real fast. The gameplay is ridiculously fun, and the story has some nice twists. A great spinoff that all fans should experience.

When this game was released, I thought, “Great, the two worst characters in the Uncharted series.” So I sat on this game for almost 6 years. In actuality, the characters really come into their own in this game. The adventure has a lot of classic Uncharted moments, if a bit dragged down by a little too much Call of Duty action.

For starters, I am a big fan of standalone DLC. Games need not be so bloated. Short games like this are a good reminder of that. My playthrough was almost 6 hours, and I mean that as a compliment.

For finishers, the essential guts of Uncharted are there. The characters have their little jokes and asides, the game has lots of climbing and puzzle solving, and you get to gun down dozens of men (they were all bad).

My one nitpick is the how the fights go. Enemies pop up in all sorts of places. Some wear heavy armor (in a jungle?) and some have laser sighted sniper rifles. You even have a few vehicles to take down. Levels needed a little more attention to stealth and less attention to emptying magazines into enemy after enemy. The last chapter of the game has redeeming qualities, combining the best of the driving, climbing, and train segments of the Uncharted Franchise.

All in all, this is a quality adventure to make you free time more enjoyable. Full disclosure, I downloaded this via PlayStation Plus twice, once as the PS4 version on the old PS+ and once as the enhanced PS5 version on PS+ extra.

Uncharted The Lost Legacy has everything that all Uncharted games must have, and then some more. The new characters are a welcome adition, it's good to have some diversity on video games (Naughty Dog excels at that). The game is gorgeous, and fun as hell, it's not very long, but for its price it provides almost 12 hours of gameplay, which is very similar to most games.

    The only negative

The only negative comment that I have is that the game is very similar to the rest of the Uncharted games, as well as the Tomb Raider ones. However, I love all of these games, so that's fine by me.

If you like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, you should definitely play this game.

A very good DLC of one of the greatest games ever: UC4. Even if you don't play the main game it deserves to be played standalone. Gorgeous graphics and level design.

A great fun side game to the main franchise. More companies should do this. Piggyback of the main game with a shorter, cheaper game that still feels like its own thing.
It takes the slightest step down graphically from 4 and it is shorter, but it sure feels epic. Chloe and Nadine are not as fleshed out as Nate and Sam, but they're still great characters to play as.

The game is said to start as a DLC to Uncharted 4 and at many points during the game, it feels like that.
The story seems to be more personal and at a lot smaller scale. It is a small step back comparing to Uncharted 4. But it is a very small step as Lost Legacy is still an amazing game.
Everything you liked about the previous games is here. Cloe is a great main character in the game.

Everything you liked about the previous games is here. Cloe is a great main character in the game. She is almost the same adventurous and talkative type of person as Nathan in the previous installments. Nadine even makes a joke about that at some point.
The game takes place in India and it makes heavy use of this country's beautiful landscapes, history, and culture. And one thing that is done so much better than in any previous game are the puzzles. Indian temples in this game are full of deadly traps and puzzles. Lost Legacy feels more "Tomb Raider" than modern Tomb Raider games.
The gameplay stayed pretty much untouched. The developers tried to open up the game world even a little more than in Thief's End, but it didn't turn out so well as the game is much shorter and does not need so long break from the action.
Nevertheless, Uncharted: Lost Legacy is another great Uncharted game and I believe that its main problem is that it was released so soon after Uncharted 4. The bar was just too high.

Despite the poor narrative, there is some fun to be had throughout the 9 or so hours it’ll take you to beat Lost Legacy. While it’s definitely not the globe-trotting adventure of a full, numbered Uncharted, this expansion has a few great moments of its own.

The Lost Legacy is a great, breathtakingly beautiful action adventure game and its only substantial weakness is that it fails to reach the stellar level of A Thief’s End while heavily relying on old tricks. [11/2017, p.60]

The Lost Legacy is not as great as a real new part in the Uncharted series, but as an insanely expansive stand-alone DLC it's more than successful. We will always miss Nathan Drak, but hopefully Uncharted will continue in this form for a long, long time.
