Those who remain is not the standard blockbuster popcorn game. This game is meant for the real folks who enjoy a good psychological horror story. Set in a foggy and almost mystic atmosphere, you will need to handle some pretty tense and scary moments during gameplay. This is not a predictable story. I think this game is an interesting, if not a little clunky, tribute to Silent Hill. It's got the themes of forgiveness and condemnation and being trapped in your own personal hell, which I thought was interesting.

And it was definitely creepy, and terrifying at parts: The constant presence of the figures in the dark keeps you on edge, especially if you have to edge into a room to turn

That being said, the game's interactivity can be limited, and sometimes you end up spinning your wheels trying to figure out what to do next. There's a LOT of searching for clues/information in this game, and when the developers have made every locker, drawer, and box openable, it can be a daunting task.

Not an A+ game, but I thought it was a pretty good one otherwise.

Для инди проекта выглядит очень прилично) Игра не пугает, задумка в общем то ясна, но мне понравилась идея проекта)

for the most part this is your standard ps4 era first person horror game. mostly sneak and hide (no combat) some puzzles, some decision making, etc. The atmosphere is a trip though and the story is fairly engaging. the main drawback is there is no manual save, so at times if you get dead, you may have to replay entire chapters until you figure out the plan. it's also a bit short. will befor the most part this is your standard ps4 era first person horror game. mostly sneak and hide (no combat) some puzzles, some decision making, etc. The atmosphere is a trip though and the story is fairly engaging. the main drawback is there is no manual save, so at times if you get dead, you may have to replay entire chapters until you figure out the plan. it's also a bit short. will be doing my third play through tonight, and hopefully the platinum will be mine !!!!! Those Who Remain has a lot of merit because it is made by an independent studio with modest means. It seems to me that it is mysterious and disturbing. Who are those shadows? What do they want?. If you are a fan of twisted horror video games you should play it.

Those Who Remain is a trivial story about corruption and injustice. Trying to seem like a horror game, it is not able to scare even a schoolboy. Pixel hunting and a weak story cause only disappointment. However, from a small company that has not released a single notable project before, it was hardly worth waiting for pleasant surprises.

It’s really all kind of shame that Those Who Remain is so flawed, because it’s got such a good idea at its core. In better hands, this probably could’ve been a much better game, but as it stands you’re safe avoiding it entirely.

Those Who Remain is difficult to recommend, but there is an interesting meditation on guilt, redemption, and judgement hidden amongst an unfortunate mass of clunky design and gameplay. It might even be that watching someone else play the game is the best way to enjoy it, so you won't have to fight the controls and frustrating checkpoints. Ultimately, the game itself fails to live up to the potential of its ideas. This is one that should remain on the shelf.
