    While it's nice to have the entire Yakuza saga on PS4, this remastered collection has the unfortunate place of being an inferior collection sandwiched between some very good games. Yakuza 0 was what got me into the series, whist Kiwami 1 and 2 built upon this massively, so Yakuza 3 and 4 are more like a massive backwards step when you play the games in order. Yakuza 0 was what got me into the series, whist Kiwami 1 and 2 built upon this massively, so Yakuza 3 and 4 are more like a massive backwards step when you play the games in order. It's nice that some of the combat mechanics vary between each game, but the fighting sequences become so repetitive and predictable after playing a few entries. Yakuza 3 managed to conceal this with a change of pace and setting, however by Yakuza 4 I was arduously chugging along through the dialogue and combat. Yakuza 5 became a tried drawing-out of plots and sequences.

    One of my biggest issues with this game and the series as a whole sometimes is how much it can waste your time with filler. In addition to this, there are occasions when you are given an objective but no map marker, making for an aimless wander around the map or to the internet. Some may enjoy this but I did not.

    This is good for your collection but I think reading a synopsis may be the best bridge to Yakuza 6.    … Expand

That should happen because I paided for the full game & B. This I a remaster not a new game **** shouldn't be cut because I could just buy the original (jap vers that I own). Overall was gonna be a 10 but still good… Expand

    This collection brings us 3 great games from ps3 to ps4, with enhanced graphics, added missions regarding the prequel game (yakuza 0) to add more lore to the games. Including the remake of one of the characters in yakuza 4, for respecting the actors choice in stepping out of the world of fame.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the characters, I loved how there were different playable characters. Akiyama was such a good addition to the game, I really liked him. However, the gameplay and story presentation was not too fun for me. Some arcs were unnecessarily long without adding anything to the story. Some missions were very unbalanced and boring. When the fetch mechanic was first introduced, where you have to catch someone in a minigame when they are trying to get away from you, I literally almost had tantrums. It was extremely unnecessarily difficult and I had to try around 30 times to get it right. One of the end-game boss battles was extremely stupid as well. It wasn't "challenging" difficult in a fun way. It was actually very unbalanced and stale gameplay. This occurred in many other points within the game as well.
    Every single game in this collection had the cliche where the main character drops their weapon and their guard, tending to a friend, and suddenly the enemy gains consciousness, gets the weapon, and kills the newly introduced character. I hated seeing this in every single game. It really killed off the realism of the game. It was also very repetitive and predictable. For this to actually happen, the main character should be extremely stupid, which does not fit Kiryu's character at all. It was very unrealistic.
    Apart from these, I really loved the new characters and the voice acting. Side content was not as fun as it was in the other games. I did not want to roam around the city and go to a karaoke bar out of nowhere.    … Expand

    Fantastic smoothed up remasters of the games that turned me into a hardcore Yakuza fan, as I started with 4.

    Yakuza 3 does a great job of picking up right where Kiwami 2 finishes up, and since both the remasters and the Kiwami remakes did such a fantastic job of keeping the story and spirit the way it should be, any fan of the new Kiwami remakes would be missing out to not only see the    Fantastic smoothed up remasters of the games that turned me into a hardcore Yakuza fan, as I started with 4.

    The Yakuza games are very much their own thing, and are so densely packed with content that they may require some palate-cleansers in between. But for those who don’t mind doing some serious homework in the form of three mandatory amazing-in-their-own-right prequels, this collection is easily a must-play.

    All three of the Yakuzas featured in this collection are essentially perfect — each one boasts fantastic stories, great gameplay, and an opportunity to spend time in one of the most vibrant worlds in the history of videogames. Whether a player is someone who’s beaten the PS4 titles and wants to see the rest of the story, is a longtime fan considering a replay, or someone coming to the series fresh, I’d recommend this collection wholeheartedly.

    As someone who only came to the Yakuza games when Zero was released, getting the chance to play the whole series now is something that really appeals. The narrative in these games may not differ too much from one another, but it is more than made up with the varied and entertaining cast. Kiryu’s Yakuza with a heart personality really stands out and only made me love him even more, especially when he was being an unstoppable fighting machine.
