Its ok. Its not bad, but there really isn’t anything special about it either. The story is meh, the player choices are meh, the characters are kinda cool sometimes, the world is meh, the gunplay is meh. It scratches the bethesda fallout itch, but that’s about it. Its certainly no non-bethesda fallout.

Excellent game! Exactly what an old Bethesda fan want. Lucky for us Obsidian stepped up when Bethesda became greedy morons. If you like games like Morrowind or fallout NV you'll love TOWorlds!

Only downfalls are that some areas (scylla and Byzantium) were underwhelming (obviously due to budgetary reasons), as well as a lack of ng+ (Which I'm still hopeful that it will come in the following months). Play this game asap. I will have my look out for its sequel, which unfortunately will not come to a PlayStation due to MS acquisition. Will still play its sequel on PC. Expand

Outer Worlds is just an amazing experience. The game is just down right fun and obsidian nailed it. It looks amazing and runs well. You can continue the game even after killing multiple quest giving NPC's which is amazing sense other games tend to run off of so many un-killable NPC's. The game isn't long which I think is completely fine. It doesn't overstay it's welcome.

The only negative thing I noticed was the enemy AI was questionable at times.
I wouldn't even be sneaking and just walk right behind an enemy and they still wouldn't notice me sometimes.

Overall though I have to recommend this as a must play for RPG fans.

It is a really good step forward when you look at the games released over the last 3 years. Single player focus, world-building, kinda nice lore and good RPG elements.

BUT it lacks much needed side quests to lose yourself, divert from the main storyline and experience the setting created. The companions are nice but there is a long way to go before catching up with Mass Effect

The companions are nice but there is a long way to go before catching up with Mass Effect standards. You don't bond, you eventually don't care about them in the end.

Last but not least, the game is TOO short. Anyways, good work!

Not a bad game kinda lacking in environments and places to explore. Wish my character had a voice, he's kinda mute. I understand that's a obsidian thing but maybe we can start giving our player a voice? It's almost 2020. the game was overall enjoyable and combat was fun, but some of the conversations just drag on too long. I'd wait for all the DLCs to be out so it has more variety.

Yes we get it corporations are evil, you don't need to beat us over the head with it. Companions are bland, and the story is kinda hard to care about. Great game overall, I highly recommend to any fan of Fallout or fans of quirky Sci-Fi like Firefly. It’s got great characters, an engaging story and fun gameplay and its long enough without feeling too long. Outer Worlds is an extremely fun and unique experience. The world building is fantastic of this game, the dialogue is great, and combat is fun. The biggest strength of this game, is the writing and finding all the terminals. The biggest weakness is how safe Oblivion played it and how close to the vest they played. Biggest gripe I have, is the game feels so lacking of quests. My first playthrough, I was able to grab (to my knowledge) almost every single quest leading to the end of the day and some of them, finally went to me just having to fast travel and go to load screen to load screen and running from planets. Another complaint, is the difficulty of the game. This is one of the easiest games I've played in quite some time, even on the hardest difficulty. Mix that with the modding system, which never really felt that impactful, feels abit like a letdown.

Graphics wise, the game was fantastic. Virtually experienced 0 bugs or if it was, it was minor visual bugs. The customization in the game, is fantastic for your character and for the skill system. You can make a stealthy, assassin who snipes people and hacks and picks locks or a swavy gun slinger.

The choice system in the game, makes me want to play the game again and experience the choices that could have happened.

All in all, the games very good, be it abit so safe. Its above average, but just more of what you expect with a new skin.

You have to ask yourself how any play tester could have said clicking on boxes for hours on end was ever fun. It seems to just be used to pad out the play-time. The world is also strangely lifeless with a lack of cutscenes or animations outside those of NPC's. You never see any ship land or take-off, ones in the sky are just static objects, there are no real set-pieces and the world itself never seems to change dynamically.

Everything feels more or less generic, and I feel that they should've leaned into exploring a more wacky space genre to make the game unique. On top of that, the game is a bit on the short side and there aren't nearly enough side quests. The main story doesn't really have many options for how it can go outside of two different ways. The lore surrounding this game is fantastic, at least in my opinion. Granted ALOT of the lore is left to the imagination but there is a ton of room for the dlc and sequels to expand upon. The game is super fun from a classic RPG perspective but I can see why younger players didn't like the game as much as people like myself. The graphics and game play are honestly well below average for today's standards but the conversations are so varied and fun.

The games biggest flaw for me was that it felt unfinished in many ways. My hope is that now that the developers have some serious cash behind them they fill in the gaps because this game has so much potential, at least in my opinion. Anyway, I loved it despite its flaws...please don't become a Xbox exclusive.

This is the best fallout not fallout game. Those guys know how to create one of the most interesting and compelling stories as well as good game play. Few minor bugs and glitches, few overlooks, but overall I'm very pleased with the game.

Beautiful world to explore, but most interactions and quests seem hollow and boring. This game had the potential to be incredible, but sadly missed the mark.

I never really enjoyed the fallout series but this was a great game.

The combat I felt was a little lacking for this era of games in that you couldn't get into cover and peak, you were either stood behind something or you were in the open but the world as a whole was so expansive and in depth. The way your decisions affected each planet and the end game felt like they actually mattered

If you enjoy rpgs such as the original mass effect games then I'd definitely recommend

Abundance of interesitng ideas, but it seems like Microsoft just wanted Obsidian to finish this project as soon as possible and start working on what they had prepared for them. The game seems unfinished in almost every aspect: NPCs just stand there regardless of the time of the day, shooting feels the same with every weapon, many planets are on the map just because.

It's not perfect, but it's damn close. Convincing characters lovingly written, an utterly wild main story, great mechanics, ridiculous guns. It's a wonderful game that everyone should own.

No idea how this game has a high user score. Outer Worlds is dreadfully boring. I went in with minimal expectations other than wanting to like it. Somehow I was still terribly disappointed. Absolutely pointless, disappointing world building, disappointing recycled elements on most worlds, repetitive monsters.

Bel gioco, finito tutto.

One shortcoming is the limited scope of this game. Compared to other similar games like fallout or elder scrolls, quests and storylines are too short. This means they cannot be built up to have the far reaching consequences that elder scrolls and fallout games can build up their quests to have. That said, the quests that you do have in the outer worlds are all still expertly written and enjoyable in their own light.

The Outer Worlds is an amazing rpg. The crewmates you pick up have good dialogue and personal quests, the ship you get is amazing and reminds me a little of the Serenity (Firefly, a tv show from 2002 was an admitted influence by the game makers, and a personal favorite of mine, which made this game so much more awesome for me), and the overall story is fantastic.

    I give it a 10, though

I give it a 10, though I do have one complaint: the game is too short! I was expecting Fallout: New Vegas style from Obsidian, but The Outer Worlds is so short. And since that's my only complaint, that means it is a near perfect game.

If you like rpgs like Fallout, the Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, etc, The Outer Worlds should be a no-brainer to buy.

The almost complete lack of music while exploring the poorly designed outdoors levels with repeated assets also does not help.
The ship's crew consists of 6 non romanceable clichés where the only remarkable thing is their voice acting, Ashly Burch awesome as always. They never appear to be "real", chilling in the ship in full armour, being teleported into elevators and being ethereal to avoid collision with you.
The difficulty in Normal is non existing, I died only twice (during the first 2 hours) and finished the game with 213 heal items. Supernova it's way more interesting but has some limitations that
will be hard to accept for most of the players.
Story wise, it's just ok, there are some interesting missions and decisions to take that will influence the different factions, it's also full with dialogs with acid humour and anti corporation sentiments (something weird from a company owned by Microsoft).
On the negative part, none of the characters/situations are remarkable (as they were for example in fallout NW) and doing 20 errands to prepare an interracial lesbian date between two chief engineers is not my idea of having space adventures.

I think this game has a lot of wasted potential and maybe with more resources and less SJW content could become a great franchise.

Feels like a fallout game, but on a smaller scale. Powered by the Unreal graphics engine, the environments are very rich and colorful. Game stability is also very good; few if any glitches for me. I really like the ability to have 2 followers as well as the witty interactions between them. Overall I really enjoyed it, and am looking forward to playing the expansions.

The Outer Worlds is a fresh face in the open-world RPG genre, which has stagnated in recent years. The Outer Worlds has fun, exciting companions and unique settings to explore. While the game leaves you wanting more, what you do get is fun, fresh, and keeps you hooked to the end. I absolutely can't wait to see more from the franchise.

I've played this game twice now, one prior to the DLC, and another attempt with the DLC. I will say that the DLC does add some additional context the overall story and background. I think that this game has a lot of pros and cons, and if they can fix a lot of the negatives the second game that they make could be really great.

I think that this game has a lot of pros and cons, and if they can fix a lot of the negatives the second game that they make could be really great.

    Pros
    - The voice acting is amazing. I would say it's probably one of the best in awhile. For me, voice acting is important, as it really can make or break the story, and for a RPG like this, it's critical in order for a game like this to be successful. Great voice acting was necessary in order to really establish halcyon and it's decline. Most notable are for the characters of Parvati and Vicar Max, they really help provide background lore and emotion.
-Dialogue and choices, I do like how it's tied to your overall stats and that there's different ways of completing some tasks, like through dialogue checks through lie, persuade, intimidate, or through skills like intelligence or perception. Now this can get repetitive at times and sometimes it doesn't really feel like it changes much.
-Combat- generally good for the most part, like that you can bring two companions along with ya, and they have special abilities, you're going to want to spam their abilities to help in battles
    - Quests- Most of the quests don't feel like a waste of time. You'll be able to skip or just ignore the quests that are obvious filler quests too. Not many fetch quests which is a good thing, but there are few. Also cool that there's also companion quests which is a cool addition

    Cons
-Weapon and Armor variety. This was disappointing, for a game that takes place in a different system, like where's the crazy or unique stuff like ratchet and clank does well. Armor was even worse, as it's the same few types of armors with recolors. Armor didn't feel like it added any abilities other than just higher number means better. The mods you could add, don't feel rewarding
-Lack of bosses/enemy variety- it's basically mauraders, guards, and a few creature types, and robots. That gets repetitive after awhile and I felt like that they could of added more enemy variety. Even with the DLC, it doesn't correct this shortcoming, and is rather disappointing when it comes to the climax of these DLCs and fights.
-Music- This is more a personal preference for me, but I think music really can help a game be even better, and this game lacks good music. Rather disappointing.
    - Gameplay length- Short without the DLCs, but with the DLCs it makes the game better in this regard. About 30 hours of gameplay with the DLCs.
-Perks- Really boring and didn't feel like it makes a huge difference. Doesn't give any sort of excitement when you level up. Actually to me it felt like a chore after you level up with having to put points into your abilities and pick perks. The flaw system was a cool idea, but it again ties back to taking a flaw, thus negative penalties, so you can pick a perk as a tradeoff, but again the perks are boring and bland.

Overall, I think this game is worth getting, I recommend getting the DLCs as well. I would say for me this game is like a 7/10 for me, which is a good score. Can't wait to see what they do for the second game for this series.

What probably best summarizes The Outer Worlds is that, in spite of my qualms with aspects of it, I still enjoyed my time playing it. It doesn’t overstay its welcome and by the fills a void that feels wider in the wake of many larger western studios losing interest in making dedicated RPG experiences. It’s not the kind of game to stand the test of time and Obsidian has made much better and more interesting games in the past, but there is a pleasant experience to be had. For those looking for that style of single-player RPG will find a lot to like and could do a lot worse.

I can see that while I play, The Outer Worlds is everything needed and expected from a first-person RPG, one that can then be expanded on in the future, with innovative systems, original worlds, and unexpected characters - they now have a hub to fit into. The problem for players is: why play this game instead of waiting for the one that fully escapes the shadow of Fallout?
