    Beautiful graphics can't save this absolutely terrible story. So many plot holes. Most of the character decisions make no sense. Seems that it was written to be divisive for the sake of being divisive. The bait and switch tactic of using new character models in trailer scenes to make you THINK the game is going to involve certain characters is a straight up lie. ND only preying on your feelings for the first game to get you to purchase the second. I genuinely feel sorry for everyone else who pre ordered this game. The only lesson this game taught me was that i will never pre order anything from NaughyDog. I laughed when i first heard about the leaks, thinking there was no way they could be true. It was. It's written like some kind of awful fanfic set in an alternate universe.

    The ending isn't even satisfactory. You will just sit there, staring at your TV thinking "why the heck did i just go through all of that"    … Expand

    The game has amazing graphics but only mediocre gameplay. The prequel quite literally was carried by the story but this time the story is lackluster.

    They destroyed the entire legacy of the first game. The characters, the gameplay and story: its like if you gave total freedom to someone who not only hated the first game but also grew up with some kind of irrational trauma against it.

    the game had huge potential, ooc characters and plot holes damaged the story telling heavily, the game drags a lot, gameplay is stale and lacks creativity, one of the strong points is the environment and the graphics are amazing on that field nothing to say but good things. People were waiting for something close to the first game but this was not it. Didn't have fun playing it 2/10.

    Great graphics, top notch sound design.
    Bland and boring gameplay. This game does nothing new. Jump button is totally useless and doesn't make a difference. Half of the game is just walking around from place A to place B, killing enemies with one single stealth animation.

    10/10 GFX but the story is so bad, ending left me empty, Overall skip it. issues with killing how they handled bad guys from plot holes seem like the writers had no idea what they were doing.

    Imagine if those leaks never happened. Players would concentrate on the whole story, without specifying certain moments. No one would play the game with leaked scenes in mind. Just try to perceive the story as a chunk, not in pieces. Maybe THEN you will understand.

    La technique est là, c'est beau c'est immersif, les dev on fait du bon boulot, il n'en reste que le jeu est mauvais sur la longueur, on joue un jeu pour s'évader, mais au final on se retrouve dans un twitter virtuel entouré de verdure, où l'on nous dit ce qui est bien et ce qui ne l'est pas.

    La force du 1 était ses personnages, pour le 2 c'est sa faiblesse

    Graphics, gameplay, story. It’s a masterpiece, plain and simple. The themes in this game build and expand upon its prequel in ways that don’t resort to trope. We’ve all over-analyzed the first game, and this game seems to leave us with questions we didn’t think to ask before.

    This game should be called "Wrap it Up: The Video Game". At least 70% of the game you are wishing for it to either get better, or realize it won't and want it to be over. Let me say that again. At least 70% (realistically at least 80%) of the time you'll be playing this game, you will be wishing for it to end soon. That is exactly why I am giving it a 9 out of 10 for exceeding myThis game should be called "Wrap it Up: The Video Game".     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 is a true testament to how not to make a sequel for a game. While gameplay received better animations and such, it mostly remained the exact same and becomes monotonous and predictable over the 25+ hour story. While it’s not bad, you'd hope for a much bigger upgrade or overhaul of crafting and other gameplay mechanics, but many remained completely untouched. But the gameplay isn’t what causes this game to be a failure in my opinion, because that’s not what people really play TLOU for anyways. People play for the characters and story, which is nothing short of disappointing and misguided in this game. The utter lack of respect toward previous or even new characters prevents the player from getting invested in them, and the game fails to utilize the one relationship the player was already invested in going into the game. Instead they demolish that relationship, and never really show it getting back to anything of what it used to be. Most other characters in this game are stagnant and replaceable, and while they have good performances, fail to make me care about them in a meaningful way. That is, until they get brutally murdered on a quest for revenge. By the end of the game I was so numb to violence nothing shocked me anymore, and I’m not sure what the game was even trying to say through all this violence and misery. What I do know is that I feel devastated for Ellie and deep hatred for another character. I truly hope Naughty Dog lets this franchise die in the pit they dug for it. I absolutely loved the first game, but this train wreck wants me to feel depressed for nothing. Some of the lessons it tries to teach seem so stupidly simple I asked myself if I was even hearing it right. All I can hear now is the ringing in my ears after listening to one of my favorite games get pillaged and massacred in the name of “Subverted Expectations”. Do not recommend.… Expand

    Great game, had to play it early because bol sent it 3 days early, I hate the SJW parts, but those are not often and don't feel as pushed as in the leaks, furthermore many people were mad because one thing happens, but I can tell there is a great build up to it. But I agree with what was said by some developers that you need to go open-minded in this game.

What a terrible story. druckmann takes our beloved characters from the first game and pisses all over them, even going so far as to animate himself as a character that spits on joel. for a new character and storyline that has no character development or goal. Graphics and acting are great but the story is so bad that I wanted to stop playing, especially while controlling the boring new character.     The Last of Us Part 2 es un juego que excede en el nivel técnico, desde la iluminación y modelado de personajes hasta su jugabilidad y opciones de personalización de personajes y armas; se nota un avance de Naughty Dog en su maestria al menos en esta rama. Pero de ahi solo viene un abismo, de como una desarrolladora no solo maltrata a una ip muy querida sino como literalmente escupe a los jugadores.
    Un videojuego no es solamente su aspecto técnico, este tambien esta conformado por las sensaciones que evoca en quienes los jueguen. La tecnología solo es un instrumento para poder dar a conocer esto y la historia permite establecer un trasfondo que permite al jugador identificarse con el juego, pero despues de varias horas en vez de tener una satisfacción solo queda un vacio por las incongruencias que presenta el juego. Si ya de por si es polémica la muerte de Joel a las pocas horas de juego por Abby de una manera brutal ( y por el guiño de un personaje muy parecido en su modelaje a Neil Druckmann que escupe en el cadaver de Joel), no termina de encajar la historai por los abundantes agujeros de guión y de situaciones forzadas y fortuitas que llenan el juego.
    Se nota que Neil metio su propia agenda politica en el juego con la manera en la cual nos narran la historia, la manera en la cual nos hace interactuar a la fuerza con la asesina de Joel. Solo puedo imaginar que un hijo desconocido de Zeus aparezca y de la nada mate a Kratos, y me hagan jugar con el solo para tratar de tener empatia con el.
    Por mas refinado que un juego pueda estar en el apartado técnico, si no entiende la conexión que debe crear con su publico este falla miserablemente en su objetivo como medio de entretenimiento audiovisual y de transmisor de ideas.    … Expand

    Honestly this game is not for fans of the relationship between Joel and Ellie, this game totally destroys that and it changed it into something unrecognizable for The Last Of Us, Gameplay and Graphics amazing, but story is not worth the 7 years wait.

    Absolutely superb game. Graphics are off the charts for this generation, the gameplay has improved a great deal and makes it even more fun to play, and the story is bleak, violent and moving, just as a The Last of Us story should be.
    PS: even if you don't like the story, scoring this game under 7 is appalling.

    A true testament to game making. Excellent visuals and audio, amazing atmosphere and a story that really makes you think. Exceedingly challenging at the harder difficulties and bold enough to tell a story that shows the ugly side of what humanity is capable of and what they can strive to overcome. I cried at the ending. Wholeheartedly recommend this game.

    The game world is less interesting, and the story less compelling than the original. A downgrade in all areas, and for a story driven game to have such uninteresting characters, flat dialogue and at times nonsensical plot is unforgivable.
    The core gameplay is at least still solid, but beginning to feel dated. Scenarios are repeated too often, and begin to feel like a chore by the end.

Often i didn't really knew what was happening either because i was really bored or because it really didn't make sense. Hateful characters, principally the main ones. As for gameplay there was nothing innovating, every Sony game transitioned to this formulated gameplay.

    I really wanted to give this game higher score at least for visuals but I’m not gonna , this game and it’s characters were ruined solely because of Neil druckman’s ego .. I absolutely hated how he treated the characters.. more than that , the choices the protagonist makes doesn’t make any sense , hell even choices that Joel makes didn’t make any sense .. the progression of the story didn’tI really wanted to give this game higher score at least for visuals but I’m not gonna , this game and it’s characters were ruined solely because of Neil druckman’s ego ..     Well I started to play the game and i started to enjoy it. The character development was fantastic and the plot was very intriguing. However the Last of us 2 was god awful as the lack of Ben Banks was disgusting and it made the game unplayable.

How do you mess up a story this much to the point you don’t even understand what’s going on? The story is horrible, its starts off by killing Joel and you play as the killer for majority of the game while Ellie plots her revenge in the background. It’s literally the equivalent of in your favorite show if mid-way through the season if some random person comes in and kills off the main character and replaces him/her. So much stuff just randomly happens that doesn’t make sense or is ever explained. Like many times through the game you get into these big moments and you think something is going to happen for it to just randomly stop or be interrupted without explaining anything! Why did you guys stop fighting? Why are we here now? Where is this? It’s so choppy you don’t even get to process what is happening. They went from this great story telling to just figure it out yourself. Graphics, game play, voice acting are amazing but the story is what needs to carry the game and it just wasn’t there.… Expand

    The gameplay is the same as ever, a bland, paint-by-numbers TPS that never gets above a 6/10. The upgrade system is boring, the puzzles are simplistic and braindead, it's just generally not fun to play.

    The story is what really brings this game down to the absolute bottom floor. The upgrade system is boring, the puzzles are simplistic and braindead, it's just generally not fun to play.

    The story is what really brings this game down to the absolute bottom floor.     Do yourself a favor, don't buy or play this game, it's not worth your time and money, especially if you're a hardcore fan of The Last of Us. The visuals in this game are gorgeous, but apart from that, you will be very disappointed with the story.

    This game changed my life. I understand some people only want to play Fortnite, that's fine, but this game is the future of gaming. Character development is quite usual actually. It's nice to play a new game, if I wanted the old one, I would just play it again. Which I do. Some fans just want the same thing over and over again.

    Such a great gameplay and soundtrack is totally ruined by a bad writing. The plot is just a horrible, violent thing to do to your fanbase. It's wrong in every possible way. I'm feeling sorry for every other person who thought they're gonna play another great Joel and Ellie adventure in post apocalyptic America.

    This game has legit the worst writing I have ever seen in a gaming industry and Abby is one of the worst if not the worst character ever.

    Why the hell would you ever force players to play as her/him? I dont give a damn about her/his story.

    The ending of this game does not make any sense.

    Look how they massacred my boy... Memes aside, this is an awfully written game. Solid combat and graphics, but the story is enough to make anyone with any real appreciation for narrative wretch. I can only hope to god ND shakes itself awake for the next Uncharted.

    An insult to everything that made the first game so great. 25 hours of revenge nonsense with no payoff and every character is unlikable. The story is so pathetic and meaningless you won't care who lives or dies by the end.

A terrible shame to see the franchise fall in such a disreputable state and it’s safe to say it’s worth just watching the cutscenes on YouTube to understand the complaints.

    False adverting with the plot, Naughty dog completely disregarded what people liked about the first game and instead shoveled out this trash, On top of that the crunch time game dev's at Naughty dog had to experience is inhumane just to finish the game.

    It's a ultimately a soulless sequel that failed to deliver what it's promise. The story tries to focus on the human aspect and claim how the humans are the "real monsters" to try to deliver some pseudo philosophical message and forgets it's zombie apocalypse setting. I won't not recommend anyone buying this game even if it was on sale.

The game is incredibly beautiful, rich in details, incredible gameplay, magnificent sound, and accessibility that is something to honor.     Terrible story. Terrible world building. Characters don’t have depth. The whole thing feels like two inch pond of depth. It thinks it’s more than what it is. Watch it on YouTube and save your money. Do not encourage such pretentious crap.

    The story is something different than the first game. The game is incredible, the characters are just amazing. The gameplay is better than the first game. I see why people are mad and that is understandable. The game is hard to consume it's just depressing ,but that is what makes it really good.

    The last of us 2 has most the same positives of the first, good graphics, enemy animations and ai and the setting. Everything else is so much worse though.
    After the fourth of fifth time i had to sit through a cutscene, then you are dropped into a linear level with roaming enemies i had to sneak past/kill i was getting fed up.     Don't know why this game is getting so much hate, played through the first few hours and my god how shocking this game is....unmatched facial expressions, incredible level and audio design and phenomenal graphics make this one of the most beautiful worlds ever created... The story is shocking and real.

You are forced to witness the death of a beloved character and then play as the murderer of said character all the while the game wants you to sympathize with them. Then towards the end, Ellie can not even bring herself to take revenge but seems to have no problem killing hundreds of people instead. This game may receive lots of criticism for political reasons, I am just appalled and the disrespect this game showed towards the first one. Would not recommend, save your money folks.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
