Graphics & audio is also top notch. Environments are a joy to explore. Everything seems consistent but not same. There’s a top of rooms you can miss, and many of them are really well designed. You feel like you’re discovering something new all the time.

I really wasn’t expecting this, as I didn’t enjoy the first part as much as the others did but looking at the whole package there’s nothing else to write beside that it’s a modern masterpiece.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The original game was made by the story. This as a game is an improvement on those unique aspects of what makes a game a game, but the story is possibly one of the worst I have ever seen.

Expectations high but if fails to deliver. Abby being an made to be a redeemable character and falling flat. The ending making the entire game meaningless with the message of revenge isn't the answer unless your Abby.

Critics claiming this game is masterpiece: -10

First of I don't really think this game deserve 0 score, though it's the only way of showing protest against "paid" reviews of so called critics.

Now let's get to why it's bad. Long and point by point.
First of gameplay. It's dull, it's repetitive and it's absolutely boring.
For a first quarter of the game you playing stealth game without any means to make stealth interesting you don't have skills(which by the way you should find in the means of magazines scattered around the so called world which is more of a tunnel with enough side turns or dead ends that will eventually lead you to a same point and still those magazines can be missed) and if you do, you don't have skill points to open them up soon enough to avoid this getting boring you don't have silent weapons and the only way to make it as it's intended to is by crawling in a grass and bushes with 1 button gameplay which is boring. Then we move to the second quarter of the game when you finally have tools but if you play on a highest difficulty the resources are so scares that you don't really have means of using them which again forces you to the point of either changing difficulty or continue boring bush crawling with 1 button playstyle. Then we move to the third and forth quarters of the game where you again striped out of means of doing the gameplay interesting and even of the mechanics as you play as Abby who is a part of wolves which were using dogs that made it at least a bit interesting and didn't allowed you to just sit on spot smashing stealth kill button. And instead of giving you a synergy with a dog and moving onto a new mechanics they just remove them from the game as a factor so the second half of the game is even a downgrade from already boring stealth gameplay. Again dull, poor and just plain uninteresting.

    Secondly story.
I was never a fun of TLOU1 so I don't have any years long love for Joel or Elle. Though they were developing during the game, characters were evolving and that lead to controversial ending. Here we have a flat characters that don't do this. They just don't develop still at the end they take a drastic turns against everything they stood and fought for it's just a poor written drama of a broken characters that don't do anything in terms of what ending brings us to.
Prologue and Joel's death make no sense at all. He stumbles upon Abby and her group just as they shows up in the region, saves them, tells his name, lead them to a safe house and can't understand where is this going to. No matter in the first game he saw through such characters by a single glance of an eye and then again Elle magically shows up just in time to see what is happening.
Epilogue is even more stupid as Tommy instead of helping Elle as his brother would've probably wanted wanted sets her up on a vengeance path AGAIN. Then Elle finds Abby saves her and Lev, fight with Abby and let them go. Abby knows where cicadas are, have Lev by her side and get everything. Elle looses everything even her new family with Dina though she is the one braking vengeance circle she didn't even started in the end.
Even with this BS story they could have done it better by parallel playing for Abby and Elle, or even by totally swapping the two halves of the game instead they try to make you understand Abby when you already don't want to, when you already hate her and just don't give any Fs about why she did what she did.

    And thirdly is a narrative.
You don't make strong female characters by just showing how weak and bad male characters are, you don't make good gay characters by showing how pathetic and cruel straight are, you don't make a strong trans character by showing that for some weird reason(sarcasm) tribal, postapocalyptic, religious group don't agree and don't accept this chatacter being trans. The only thing this achieve is creating hatred towards this characters and,or there counterparts for the matter and towards the writers that just can't represent them by any means other then hatred. They must stand out by what they do and not by others that do wrong.

And lastly you don't buy or otherwise force critics to say that game isn't what it is. A dull, boring, weak, old and underdeveloped in terms of gameplay and story pile of garbage. You don't make metacritic to start showing some weird server errors that occurs only for this game. You don't lie in promotional materials. You don't censor some games and leave others with a full out sex scenes.
Again this game doesn't deserve a 0 score, it's 4-5 at least for it's graphics and detail obsession. But when I see 95 critics score for this I go for 0 to balance it out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For anyone wanting an in depth read as to why the game is being viewed negatively by most gamers:

Firstly, no, it isn't about a specific character's death. Please let that weak argument go to justify why the game is good in all other aspects.

Very clearly a ton of work was put into excellent gameplay, graphics and sound. They are all absolutely top notch, you'd expect nothing less of a game from them. The story on the other hand, it was well acted by Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson and the rest of the crew, but the reasoning for this story to exist seems off. I couldn't place my finger on what was wrong with it at first, but as the hours went by while playing it I got the sense that the game existed for namesake alone. Not because they had a story to tell. It's utterly clear in the end that this game's story exists because of one idea they had. It is a B movie, straight to DVD style plot twist with absolutely no impact due to its execution. Where the first game had character development on all fronts, mainly Ellie and Joel, the sequel throws that all out the window.

Granted Abby’s story isn’t particularly intriguing whatsoever ( a new character you're forced to play as for 10+ hours ) and there is an arc that feels contrived ( extremely convenient timing, for a writer hoping to craft a redemption tale ) and to top it all off the ending is extremely disappointing. Early-game portrayals of Abby’s friends are intentionally misleading ( behavior and attitudes inconsistent with those revealed later ), and overall there are significant issues with narrative structure and timeline. So in the end the game is intentionally disturbing, emotionally manipulative, intentionally unsatisfying. Does that make it a good game? No. It's just an intentionally disturbing, emotionally manipulative, intentionally unsatisfying game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good graphics , and overall display but with some of the worst wrinting ive ever seen.
The people who played tlou1 went to this game with certain expectations like:
-Joel does give trust to unkown people (in the first game you can see him seeing throu an ambush while a man is seeking help in the midle of the road and develeping a sense of trust over an extended period of time with Ellie).

And seeing a character like that, to let himself get played by a women whos equiped in a snowstorm and weights 200 pounds saying that she got a base nearby (So why the hell are u here?!!!) Joel is a smart guy and he would never let himself be played like that.
But the game needed Joel to die so that it could spark the sense of the weirdest revenge ever ,
-Caracther diversity over Caracther development , this game is a message , and to people that are saying that if u critise the game u are homofobic / transphobic or dont like women in general ur wrong , most of the games with female leads are so good , Horazion , Tomb raider the uncharted expansion of Chloe and Nadine we also have the case of Trevor in GTA V saying to Franklin that he is bisexual and he was one of the best character in GTA .
So to the point, u start as a lesbian women and an asian guy knocks at the door folowed by an hispanic women that is bisexual vs a 200 pound women and her transgender friend and daddy issues sister , and the problem with this diversity is not that its there its the context where its being put (Zombie/infection apocalipse) and u see througth the game that he really wants you to pick this pro-diversity vibe so much that you end up not falling in love with none of these caracthers , the problem is not the homophobes the problem is that ur shoving contantly and non stop this sexuality aspect and it beacomes theyr personality , if a game througth the whole gameplay reminded me nonstop that my male caracther likes to have sex with women i would have the same reaction .
We get it DIVERSITY, great now develop the caracthers pls.
-And finally the plot holes, and there are a lot but im gonna mencion one so you can understand this bs writing , so after the worst ending in video game history ,where only after killing 200 people Ellie realises that revenge is bad and not meaningfull and dosent kill the only person that she should kill to avenge Joel , somebody for the love of god tell me How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses How does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In The shoulder also sick and pregnant, tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and jesses dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses how does Ellie with a bashed in face, Dina with an arrow In the shoulder ,sick and pregnant, Tommy who was shot in leg with arrow and in back of the head with a handgun and Jesse`s dead corpse just up and ride from Seattle Washington to Wyoming and make it back to Jackson without horses ?
Its just overall bad and i hope u redo or at least make a dlc that this was all Ellie imagination after taking that weed with Dina

People criticize the flashback format but I believe it was perfect at revealing information when it had the biggest impact. The violence in this game is very self aware and Naughty Dog did an amazing job of conveying that every person you kill has their own lives. Abby became a hard person to like and care for, but I think Naughty Dog did really well with making me understand her side of the story, and had me sympathize more with her than our main protagonist Ellie. Incredibly convoluted and rather unsatisfying by the time I finished it, it pretty much had no sense of achievement, fun-factor, emotion or flow compared to the masterfully written first instalment. The game definitely had its moments that were intense, but as a whole didn’t really add onto the quality of the overarching story, not to mention the really strange pacing issues at times.

The marketing and build up for this game was very misleading, and I won’t mention any spoilers - read the other reviews for spoilers, but those who know will know what I mean. The 'perfect' scores from big corporate review companies really do also highlight the unfortunate monopoly that a lot of these game companies have, the whole 'review copy' and embargo restrictions are topics of conversation that can be discussed to great lengths.

I can’t seem to understand Naughty Dog’s business tactic here, they definitely have the capabilities and money to produce a world-class game, I’m really confused about why Druckmann and his writing team would opt to go for such a ‘controversial’ story, that wasn’t even written very well in the first place - all to then slate the fans who didn’t ‘see’ the game for what it was on the internet? It doesn’t seem like a very profitable decision to me, not just from a financial perspective, but for reputation of the company. I am also very aware of the rumours of controversy behind the working conditions, Amy Hening getting fired etc. so maybe the studio is just not what it once was...

I genuinely do feel bad for the people at the company who dedicated the last 7 years designing one of the best looking and sounding games I’ve played so far, to go through all that effort in vain for such a disappointing story that I can infer for such a renowned studio could’ve only been a result of things like big disagreements, lack of input from a wide range of creators and poor management.

My score is in the yellows and not the reds purely for the incredible elements of the game mentioned at the beginning of my review, but without them, the game really does suffer from an incredibly disappointing narrative - the legacy of the first game has really been thrown down the drain for many fans.

    - I loved the last of us 1 for how he managed to please all the characters told. In tlou2 of the characters who die you don't give a damn.
    - The story is a simple search for a person for revenge that then does not materialize, everything that happened was useless.

The fond memories I have of the first game is what drove me to buy this sequel. I'll try to write with a general approach as to not spoil critical moments of the game. Going into this game I expected /something/ like the first game in terms of plot, but most of all I was just curious to see what the future held for Joel and Ellie. When "it" happened (if you've played the game you know what I'm talking about) I all of a sudden had an incentive and I was determined to follow it through. This part of the game also sets the tone for a lot of the game. It's not a happy story. It's quite a sad story about how one's goals can come at the cost of everything you hold dear. Yet, as I finished the game I thought the game could not have had a better ending. It's harrowing, but after the events that occurred throughout the game, I think this ending makes sense for all the characters, and I'm excited to see if there will be a Part 3.

I've noticed some people having trouble with there being themes of LGBTQ+ in the game. I myself was very neutral to this. Having gay characters and trans-characters don't affect my life, or my perception of these characters at all (other than the hardships these characters might've faced due to this, but that's a different topic). Towards the end of the game I became very happy for these characters, their sexuality wasn't even a factor into my being happy for them, just seeing these characters express happiness and love in such a devastating and dystopian setting made me feel genuinely happy and I was touched by this portrayal of companionship. I'm sure it means more to others than it does for me.

I do not want to spoil anything of the plot, as I think not knowing anything prior to playing the game really gave me the truest experience. Having my perspective and mindset challenged by the game was also incredibly interesting. I'd recommend this game based on the story alone and the emotional bonds you create with these fictional characters. It plays like a great book reads.

Other than that, I was astonished by the graphics and the attention to detail in this game. The atmosphere and sound design made me want to pause a few times due to the tension, but I felt it was part of the experience, so I endured.

Will play this game again countless times.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel lied to. Everything about this game was a **** lie. Neil Druckman few years back said that The Last of us will not be about anything else but Joel and Ellie because they're the main characters and they wouldn't have it any other way, that was a lie. In the trailers they put Joel in cutsene and then replaced him with Jesse, so we think Ellie is on some kind of revenge path and Joel is helping her with it, that was a lie. Again in trailers they replaced Joel and ellie models to mislead us so that we think what we saw was their new adventures and in fact those were only flashbacks, so it was a lie. Despite all of that they kill Joel in the most horrible way just to introduce another character that this game is indeed all about. From the start I had hard times bringing myself to play it becaouse of the poorly writing but after they forced us to play as Abby this piece of **** charactar who killed our beloved Joel I totally lost it. I was waiting for this part to be over and go back to playing as Ellie but that didn't happen. Even more, you had to play as Abby to kill Ellie ?????? Imagine in Dark Souls you fight against a final boss and the game places you in the body of the boss and you have to kill your player character to finish the game, could you come up with something dumber that that ? I don't think so. It's clear for me that somewhere along the way of writing a script for this game something terrible happened, they totally abandoned their original ideas and tried to write something so WOKE and teach us something trough this game but unforunetaly they completely failed to do that. I say the first game gave us better live lessons and made us think more about some objects. The second didn't have the same effect because the times when i could spent thinking about some problems that this game portrays I spent on thinking when will this **** end. Dissapointed, will never trust this Company ever again and will definetly not buy their games in the future Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is everything that was promised. It's brutal, brilliant, forceful, important narrative that addresses issues of pain, regret, anger and hate and their corrosive influences on life and society. It interrogates what it is to be a hero or a villain and deconstructs our childish cultural assumptions about what it is to be either. People review bombing it can suck all of the dicks. They're the same petulant **** who didn't like The Last Jedi because they found their assumptions being challenged by the narrative, the very thing that great art is supposed to do.

I'd be willing to bet a Confederate flag or two that a decent chunk of the hate this game has received from melt minded one handed typers is because they ditched the middle aged white male protagonist for a diverse band of superbly drawn non stereotypes that did just as well. All this anger because your favourite character dies. That's what stories do. All this, despite the fact that Joel spends the rest of the game present anyway, floating around in Ellie's memory like some sort of sexy omniscient god. Or maybe it's the confusion about which character is trans? Must be the muscly one? Right?

**** knows. All I know is that it's only insanity or being extremely hard of understanding that could make you put this game at anything lower than a 9.

Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of the original game. I have Ellie's tattoo on my own forearm and TLOU2 was my most anticipated game of the decade. I am absolutely in love with TLOU.

First of all, TLOU2 is NOT a 0/10, nor is it a 10/10. The truth is somewhere in the middle. It is no question, this game does not even compare to the first game - a true 10/10, in my opinion. First, the good: Naughty Dog achieved absolutely incredible visuals with this game. It is beautiful. They should also be given credit for polishing the original's gameplay, it is very fun. At the very least, before I get into what makes this game disappointing, I will say that I give them credit for at least trying something risky, the only problem is that the execution and experience was poor.

So what did Naughty Dog do poorly? This game made many mistakes. The first and largest is that you are forced to play as a new character that is extremely unlikable and this lasts for approximately half of the game's length. You are switched to control this character during the game's climax, which kills the momentum of the story. Most players that I know tried to rush through this slow paced "sequence" in order to get back to Ellie's gameplay, only to find that they must play around 10-12 hours with this new unlikeable character in order to get back to the game's climax. THIS right here is what kills the entire experience of this game. Everyone that I know in my personal life that played this game, 4 people, found the second half of the game to be absolutely dreadful and not worth it. I absolutely hated this experience too. I stomached this sequence just go see the ending (obligated to see it through out of my love for the first game), but I can say, without spoiling anything, that I don't personally believe that the experience was worth it. I give this game a 6 ONLY because the first half of this game was genuinely thrilling and an absolute blast, despite questionable narrative choices, which I was able to get over-- at first. There are other issues in the second half and near-end such as constant geographical and chronological shifts, the game is all over the place, and it never really finds its footing. The pacing is a bizarre mess. They also sacrifice smart storytelling for embarrassingly convenient plot advancements. For example, otherwise smart characters make simple and unbelievable mistakes such as dropping literal maps that lead their enemies directly to their base. There are many examples, even late term pregnant women decide that they are fit for militaristic combat, putting them in places where they obviously should not be. These things are unrealistic and just dumb, to be honest. Characters are constantly making out-of-character decisions. No matter how badly I want to like this game, I can't fool or lie to myself, and I have to admit that it just is not that good of a game. I cannot say that I recommend this game, and that breaks my heart to say, after a 7 year wait. But nothing will make the first game any less brilliant.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I can't express my disappointment in this game. Before people assume this is because "Oh he does not like LGBT" No. I personally feel the way they handle Ellie being a Lesbian in the first game was done to perfection. However. The same kind of themes in this game feel forced down your throat and seem really poorly written. I gave this game a 1 out of 10. I did not give it a 0 because the graphical improvement is very well and I believe the graphics at least deserve some praise.

It breaks my heart what they have done to our beloved characters. Playing half of the game as a character we have no connection to or have any emotional investment into. I really want to wish that when I wake up tomorrow this was all a dream but I know it won't be, I really really hope that the developers open their eyes and see what they have done and don't make this mistake again.

A good game got a sequel and I hoped the hate was fake and the critics could be trusted. But yet again, the critics were apparently paid off. Full disclosure, I took the time to make an account just to review this game, because it pissed me off that much. I won't review the game play mechanics, because they are largely unoriginal and a slight improvement to the first game, but I will talk about the story which is what we all were interested in anyways.

The story is awful. Without spoiling anything, let me explain why. The writing and dialogue isn't necessarily bad, but it certainly is mediocre. The issue is the premise of the story, a boring, angry story of revenge, revenge against good and bad people alike. It almost feels like the game wants to justify violence against good people the same way it wants to justify violence against bad people. Everyone is the same, looking for revenge and what you've done and who you are are irreverent factors. At the same time, the game is trying to teach you that violence is wrong, so it essentially accomplishes nothing because it is so confusing in its message.
A big issue for me, and I imagine a big issue for many others, is the way the characters themselves are handled. Joel retains his character from the last game fairly well, but not for long. (you'll see why if you play it.) Ellie, not so much. She feels like a totally different person in every way except for her devotion to Joel. Abby is complicated. I feel like they game wants you to think she is just like Joel, doing what she has to to protect her people. But she comes across as a villain instead. She is ugly both inside and out and it's hard to understand why she was written into the game the way she was because she is the worst part of the story.
The soul of the first game is entirely absent from this sequel. The characters are unrelatable, a major problem for a story game. It feels like quick cash grab and I didn't bother finishing it, but instead watched you tube videos of the cut scenes. I will probably seek a refund as soon as possible and I suggest you do too if you bought it.
In the end, I give this game a three, purely because the animators and voice actors deserve credit for a job well done. I give the animation and voice acting a solid 9/10. Unfortunately, their work was wasted by a story that I genuinely can think of nothing positive to say about, a story that effectively ruins the first game for me. I give the story a 0.5/10 (for the decent dialogue only)
Quick edit before I post this: The Metacritic server seems to be not allowing reviews to be posted for now, It crashes every time I try. Also, the positive and negative review ratio is fluctuating wildly probably meaning Metacritic is desperately deleting reviews. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I know people are disappointed about this game, but i also kind of feel like those same people are missing the point.

First and foremost, Joel's death is hard to swallow, but arguing that it doesn't fit in with the character or the world is dead wrong. Joel has spent four years in relative safety, and he is journeying with his more optimistic and trusting brother Tommy when he is killed. He has made a home within a community, he himself has become more trusting, and the world building makes it clear that, while on patrols, there are encounters with other survivors who are given shelter. Joel makes a split decision to trust somebody instead of fighting an entire horde of infected, which is understandable in this world.

This act of violence serves as the impetus for the rest of the story, which is in my opinion masterfully told. You play as Ellie, but also for a large portion of the game as Joel's murderer. Other reviewers are finding this problematic, but the story itself is truly two parts of a whole. Ellie becomes more withdrawn and distant through the course of her majority playthrough, and your thought is that it's due to her hollowness as a result of her revenge play. But, after you spend time with Abby, the situation becomes more clear. The vengeance has taken a toll on Ellie, to be sure. But she is also starting to empathize with Joel's killer, leaving her conflicted.

Halfway through playing as Abby, I began to realize that it is absolutely not a stretch for Joel to be such a villain in Abby's mind. This story fits with the world, and the way Ellie reacts to such a situation is absolutely to honor Joel's memory.

Obviously, i love this game. i understand some of the criticism as well, but i really think this game needs an open mind. Everyone needs to take a step back and approach this piece of art with the right perspective:

    a) Naughty Dog doesn't owe you anything.
    b) This world is, and always has been unforgiving and life hangs by a thread.
    c) There is a very valid opinion that Joel gets what he deserves, particularly from Abby's perspective.
    d) Calling something "bad writing" just because you disagree with a plot point is not only childish, it's just wrong.

10/10, this game is better than the original and actually enhances the themes and morality present in Part 1. I'll be playing new game + multiple times.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game's a masterclass in just deserts as a concept.

    Just play it.

My main issues with the game is that you start over half way through it, and have to level up an entirely different character from nothing. It would've been easier if the game had cut between these two characters at different story points, but I understand why they didn't. For this reason, the game's pacing drags a bit but otherwise it's a perfect game. I'd have gived it a 9 in reality but until the metacritic score balances out I'll give it a 10.

You already know the game's graphics and gameplay are good so lets talk story. Here's my points that disagree with most of the concerns here. Spoilers below:

The game is incredibly self aware of the fact that it's a game. It knows you dislike Abby, and gives you more than one opportunity to watch her die a brutal, horrific death. It turns the death mechanic you try to avoid into a sick and twisted revenge mechanic. It's fitting that you face off against an incredibly terrifying and overpowered boss as Abby yet Tommy and Ellie are far more challenging opponents. You can survive your first encounter with the big boss but you won't survive your first encounter with Ellie.

People don't feel like the game has the same level of chemistry that made the first game magic--and are upset that they didn't 'like' Dina. The game doesn't want you to like Dina, in fact it goes out of it's way to make you only care about one thing: revenge for Joel. Dina is the only thing Ellie has and her life takes a backseat to killing every single one of Abby's friends with the goal of killing Abby. Even playing as Abby, watching her story--you still want Abby to die. That one good deed saving Lev doesn't matter if you don't get your just deserts.

The end of the game comes to a close with the most heroic thing you've ever done in either game--you free an entire colony of slaves to overtake their oppressors and you don't care at all. You're just there to kill Abby. Just deserts. You find her hanging from a crucifix starved and beaten after months as a slave. When she finally has her beaten and bruised beyond recognition, leaving her in worse shape than Ellie was left at the end of the first fight, she let's her go. She had to learn to forgive this woman, and she realizes in that moment she has put the fear of god in this woman. It's harrowing.

The comparisons of the game's story akin to The Last Jedi are way overblown. In The Last Jedi, the characters from the previous trilogy are left behind, barely respected and make decisions that are completely out of character. Luke Skywalker is turned into a joke. The Last of Us 2 respects it's characters and puts them in believable situations. You get plenty of time with the characters from the first game acting as you'd expect. There is a cause and effect for every decision they make, and the game makes sense.

It's hard to watch people who have legitimate criticisms of the game thrown in with antisemitic, homophobic and racist dialogue, even if you truly hated the story I'd find it hard to take seriously a review under 5 or 6.

Play the game, see it for yourself.

TLOU se caracterizaba por tener una gran historia, parece que en esta secuela Naughty Dog tuvo varios errores. comenzaré con los pros:

    + Gráficos
    + Sonidos
    + Música
    + World Building

    Contras
    - Historia (el final más que nada)
    - Relleno (cinemáticas y capítulos nada interesantes)
    - Narrativa

I really loved this game, even though my favorite character ended up dying to the stupid **** i will never feel sympathy for it was a great game. I enjoyed the story, the character development all the flashbacks, and definitely the graphics and game play. I was a little upset with the ending they build up all of this hate and want for revenge and the end only to leave you feeling dissatisfied. despite that, i was an emotional wreck playing this game it was very well put together. And i've heard a lot of hate about ellie being lesbian, people must not have played the first game because it was clearly put in there that she was into girls. All in all i wish they had the game revolve around jole being kidnapped and ellie going to save him instead of killing him off but still a great game at the end of the day Expand

I’ll be honest. The first The Last of Us game is my favourite game of all time, having no other game coming even close…until now. Having finished The Last of Us Part II I felt depressed, the game left me in a rough shape, but it was worth it. I strongly believe that It is an experience that caters differently to every single player, so I don’t think going over the story would be really substantial in this text. Just remember: Character progression in important in storytelling, and the main characters really end up learning their lesson in the end, with a high cost for everyone. Sure, it's rough and non-satisfactory, but that's the way it should be with a story like the one being told in TLOU 2.
All I wanna ask of anyone reading this: try to play/watch the game without being prejudiced by the backlash, or even positive comments. Try to get your own opinion. In the very least, if you dislike the story, you’ll get some amazing set pieces and intense combat, plus a wonderful soundtrack/atmosphere.
9/10 for me. The -1 is due to a weird pacing in the second half of the game and some characters lacking “chemistry”. Apart from that, it was so worth the wait, the hype, and the time I invested.
Once in a lifetime experience for me. Hope you’ll find ways to enjoy it as well.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finished this game on the weekend but decided to write a review now. I needed time to rethink everything, but now I'm ready. Let's start in order:
    1) Graphic. It is the most important component of the game. it is clear that the company has done a great job in this direction. Everything is very high quality drawn, the eyes are pleased to look at it. But it doesn’t reach the level of RDR 2 a bit, still there the graphics are not reachable. rating for graphics - 9/10
    2) Music. Here is above all praise. Playing the guitar was simply exciting especially liked the episode with the song Take on me, after that I continue to go into YouTube and listen to it. It is not surprised that this episode now has 1.5 million views. So here 10/10
    3) Gameplay. Here it is already debatable. On the one hand, a lot of innovations appeared, a new combat system ... But this is impressive somewhere in the middle of the game, then it becomes already boring. I do not blame the developers for this, but it would be possible to improve it a little. Therefore 8/10
    4) Plot. Here I will scold developers. How could you spoil the story after the first part? We had a great story about relationship between father (yes, I perceive him already as her father) and daughter. Ahd what we have in the 2 part? You see a dead Joel who was killed by some unknown botex woman. and what does Druckmann do? He wants to justify this scary woman with two hours of stupid story about her. It was very unwise to talk about some unknown doctor when we killed more than a hundred people in the first part. That is, he could take any random character that we killed in the first part and make his child take revenge for it. It is very cheap and not original. Drackmann is trying to resemble Glukhovsky, but he is not good at it. Shame on you, Druckmann !!! Now 3/10
    5) Propaganda. One more worst thing in the game. I could forgive Sarkisyan for the terrible daughter of Drake (instead of the normal boy who was supposed to be originally), but in this game it was terrible. Hairy armpits, Ellie's disgusting girlfriend, pumped Abby, gay boy ... All this caused nausea and once again confirmed that calling Sarkeesian was a bad idea. 0/10
In the end, i would like to say that Naughty Dog buried this series of games. I, like many fans, did not expect them to release such a weak game after Uncharted 4. I saw yesterday that he hinted at part 3 of the game ... I am absolutely sure that no one will wait it and the sales will be as low as possible. Thanks for your attention!)

The post-apocalyptic aspect of the first game is nothing but background noise in this sequel.
The story is atrocious. Pure SJW propaganda and nothing else.
Even Ellie's sexual orientation, that was treated as perfectly normal in Left Behind... they purposefully put an older white man in there just to call Ellie a "dyke". Do you think anyone would care about that in the TLoU world? They have bigger things to worry about. Stuff that actually matters.
This sort of stuff happens throughout the entire game.
And then they have the audacity to force Abby down our throats!
Oh man, I'll just stop here or else I never will.
The Last of Us did not deserve this. This writing team should be ashamed.

They make you instantly hate her then force you to play her for the longest period.. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The defense that "This game would have gotten better ratings if the leaks didn't come out" is ultimately weak and illogical. What happens would have happened regardless. Nobody wants to play as the person who killed off their favorite characters. I'm very sure people would've easily wanted to play as Joel but they never do unless you count that tiny horseback part before his death. What you're left with afterwards is an awkward uncomfortable scene that feels forced and less of these M-rated scenes should even be in gaming in my opinion. You get a lackluster revenge story afterwards with the lead up being anticlimactic and just felt like the entire journey was pointless. This game strips everything that was good about the first game's story and defeats the entire purpose of everyone's character in the first game. Joel from the first game would have never even gotten himself killed like that because quite frankly, the Joel in this game is almost a completely different story. It's like the developers or director purposefully made him act stupider and weaker . It shows in full plain sight Joel dying but oh god forbid it shows Nora dying. What's creepy is the fact that Niel Druckman's self-inserted character is the one doing the M-rated scene with the other character. Nobody wants to play as Abby. Nobody wants to play as the character who murdered everyone's favorite character. I know I already said this but I need to say it again. This entire game was a farce that killed everyone's happiness in the span of almost a decade. Also take a look at the reviewers who gave this game a 10. You'll notice quite the pattern there. If the shortness of said reviews doesn't give it away. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was questionable about the game, given Part 2 is twice as long as Part 1. But looking back, I can't deny playing this was a great experience. The gameplay is significantly improved and the world immersion is enhanced. Areas are bigger - there's much more to discover and many more (and more types!) of infected and human factions to go all our guerilla warfare on. I'm excited to get going on my second playthrough (skipping the cinematics this time around).

This game is a lot to digest. Having said that, there's no denying that, as a horror survival game, this is 10/10. Part 2 brought a good balance of Part 1's silliness to its brutality. At times I was chuckling and feeling the warm fuzzies; other times, I was cringing saying out loud "no, no, no...I don't want to do this. Why are you making me do this!?" All the way throughout, you're tip-toeing around corners praying to God a clicker doesn't jump out of the wall or that a sniper doesn't spot you from a distance. Never have I been so triggered by the sound of a whistle.

Some reviewers seem hung up on the storyline and are forgetting that beggars can't be choosers. At the end of the day, did you really think Joel selfishly sabotaging a world-saving vaccine would go unpunished? How else did you think a sequel would play out? We got so much more than we asked for. Sure, I'm not super happy about the ending...I like closure...and I wish Ellie could still play the guitar with all five fingers on her left hand...but at the end of the day, I can't deny I enjoyed this and would play it again and again.
