    Shame on you. This game is truly wrong and the garbage of the year!! It did not make me understand the connection with previous one and there is no point keeping title, “the last of us”. Big disappointment and I’m done with this game!

    A VERY vocal minority absolutely hates this game. All I can say is that they are wrong. This game is another genre defining masterpiece, with very few minor issues that only regards to gameplay. The plot is controversial and makes me umcomfortable when I think about it, but that is what is so so so great about it. It holds up a mirror to the player.     This game is an ambitious experience that challenges the fans of the first game, but doesn’t deliver the same strengths in interactive storytelling as we have come to expect from the best known Sony first party studio.

    Naughty Dog created a story that is intentionally one that audiences wouldn’t have expected. There are a wide range of experiences in this game that invoke Feelings of hate, anger, sadness and nostalgia. This is a roller coaster experience that isn’t solely a continuation of Joel and Ellie’s relationship as we knew it to be. Instead, Part II is an exploration of the impact of violence. Each character in this world has suffered loss and the player is forced to understand that repetitively, through many side characters presented in this game. there are moments in this game that will reward all players but if you’re strictly attached to the Joel and Ellie father-daughter relationship this game will not meet expectations. The best advice I can give to players is dive into this game with an open mind, trust that the 25 + hour long story will be met with solid conclusion.

    Overall, this game is a brave and beautiful exploration of humanity that finally comes together in the last few hours of playing. however, it falls short in its pacing and storytelling. The first game is not only a great game but a great piece of media to entertain a wide range of audiences globally. Part II is a good game from a technical standpoint but its narrative doesn’t quite resonate the same way as it’s predecessor.

    Thoroughly enjoyed the game and was engaged with the story throughout. The Abby storyline made sense and her section of the game made me understand the characters motivations.
    Game play wise I enjoyed how they improved from the original and the new accessibility features are something that I can see many companies applying in the future.

    My biggest complaint was that there were too many collectibles. I enjoyed reading the artifacts and the journals, however the trading cards and coins were a little overkill on the collecting.

    I understand that some people don't like the direction ND went, but I feel it made it a stronger story. Overall, as long as you go in with an open mind then I think many will enjoy the story.    … Expand

    What an amazing game with a very original and compelling story. The game-play was stellar with great controls, encounters, stealth mechanics and some genuinely scary moments. The graphics are some of the best I have ever seen and the game itself is very beautiful with some gorgeous environments.     This an enjoyable game but a flawed one. While many people don't like a certain story decision but it isn't bad writing. It makes sense in the world of the game. I didn't like it but understood it. Anyway the gameplay is good, the characters are well fleshed out.     This game had the potential to be a 10/10, but, sadly, the story is badly written and poorly executed. I like the ideas behind the game and everything appart from the story is 10/10. Maybe if they did some ajustements to the passing and cut some sections, the game could hit a 9 or 10. Little bit sad to know that this game could have been so much more. Still had fun for the most part.

After playing through it, I wish I never bought it. There is such a push to make you feel ways you don't think are reasonable, too many pot holes to overlook, garbage character development and many more issues. Although sad, it made sense in a way. If I was making the game myself would I have killed him off this early or at all? No, but it didn't ruin the game for me. I enjoyed about 75% of this game, the game-play is special, I would be lying if I said I enjoyed the ending. I would be lying if I said I didn't think they added an underlying message which I felt was unnecessary, maybe this doesn't go for everyone but I'm completely comfortable with characters within a game being of whatever sexual preference, whatever gender they want, I just want a good story and it felt unnecessary to go through Lev's whole journey to becoming trans (just my opinion). The last couple of hours of this game made me forget how much I enjoyed a whole lot of it, Joel's death was sad but I feel like it could very much be justified for his actions at the end of the first Last of Us.     If the gameplay wasn't so good, I'd be rating this much lower. The decisions the characters make in the game make little sense and the entire third act is pointless and seemed like filler. In fact, the game would be better if it ended a couple hours before it did. Like the first one, it still has its very tense moments. Much of the game was an exercise in Ludonarrative dissonance, ultimately sadly resulting in an immeasurably uncomfortable and joyless playing experience. Being forced to beat up Ellie was the most egregious ‘spit in the fans face’ moment in any game i have experienced. Hating Abby then the game pulling a 180 and forcing you to play as her for half of the game required extreme effort and inner soul searching to empathise with her. Not particularly fun. It was essentially the torture mission from GTA 5 made into a full game. I felt numb and dead by the entire story and conclusion.… Expand

    Disgusting story without a sense, not interesting characters, pointless dialogs, old 2013's gameplay (with minimal innovations in my opinion), useless exploring, stupid AI.

Kill one of the most beloved character joel and then make you play as the killer abby who is very detestable. They did nothing that made me feel sympathy for her. The only good things is the graphics and frantic gameplay that gives you the good feel of the crazy world and the enemies that inhabit it.     Such a masterpiece! This is the game i have waited for. The Story is very special and i can understand why so many people dislike the game. But this is what Naughty Dog is. Naughty Dog is full of surprises... Part 2 is the perfect example. To those who haven't played it yet: don't let others guide you and play it yourself. Worth it

    It's a brutal game. It's tough in many different ways. But I am blown away at what a great job the entire team at Naughty Dog did with this sequel. The negative reviews are all there because the story is controversial - but it drives the entire game, and if, like me, you don't let video characters emotionally control you to an alarming level where I would consider going to therapy - it's not bad at all.     O jogo te entrega mais do que um game, é uma experiência, uma reflexão e uma história que foge de todos os clichês imagináveis. Só tenho a parabenizar a Nought Dog pelo excelente trabalho nessa obra que superou demais todas as minhas expectativas que já eram enormes. Uma história que é maior do que seus personagens, acredito que quem entendeu isso finalizou o game com a alma lavada.

    Script terrible, besides the gameplay are great. The thing is that, FOR ME, the story is essential. I play games just for the story, so I can't like this game even if have good graphics. I was waiting more cleverness in the script.

    The gameplay itself is revolutionary, the animations are nearly flawless and the graphics are amazing. Story wise it's not as strong as the first but does an amazing job at making the player feel tense and uncomfortable during the entire story.

    Absolutely phenomenal game with stunning visuals and gameplay. It takes what is so special about the first game and improves upon it in nearly every way. Definitely a must play for any Naughty Dog fan.

    This game is way better than the reviews. The reviews can't talk for this game I just finished it with 30hr and 13 min and now I'm playing it again in new game plus. Don't hop on the hate bandwagon. Play the game yourself and judge it yourself.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, English isn't my first language so please don't be that strict with my use of words.
    I really don't understand how the user rating have got a such insulting low score. I would guess most of the people who are hating haven't even played the game and just watched the leaked cut scenes or a let's play of it.

    Anyways, I don't think we have to talk about the graphics. The game just looks beautiful, especially the light, the spores the water, the wet clothes and so on.
    The soundtrack and in general the sounds are really on point as well.
    The game design is good too. The combination of stealth, fighting and discovering is well done and there are a lot of secret dialogs and cut scenes which are all optional. Now to the probably most controversial part.
    The story is in my opinion also really great. The game tells a story about hate and the urge of revenge and where hate leads you. I loved playing the flashbacks where you really could see how the relationship between Joel and Ellie (or Abby and her dad) went on after the “open end” in the first part. I also loved playing as Abby because there you realized for the first time that from her point of view, all she has done made sense. She isn't the stereotypical villan. She even helped Lev and Yara, even though she didn't have to. She is just a girl who has lost her dad in a pretty **** up world. When you played her, you realized that Ellie isn't really different from Abby. Abby lost her dad and wanted revenge, so she killed Joel. Not Ellie or Tommy, just Joel. Ellie than lost her father figure and also wanted revenge. So she chased the group of people who has done it. There is also some beautiful character development when Ellie realized what she just had done and started crying and her hands started shaking intensively. Then, when Abby finds Owen and Mel dead, it's also just a beautifully made moment when she goes down on her knees, crying and vomiting. What she does after this also just made sense from her point of view. The only reason I'm giving only 9/10 is the decision Ellie makes after she lives with Dina and JJ on the farm: why would she leave the woman she loves and a child she loves just to finally kill Abby even though she already said she doesn't want to go after her again. But if you ignore this one mistake in the story, it all makes sense. After she cuts Abby down from the pole she realized that Abby really cared about Lev and that she is also just a person in this **** up world who wants to be happy with her friends/family. Only because she had a "flashback" of Joel dying, Ellie choose to fight Abby, but in the end she couldn't kill her because she realised how "human" she also is.
    From their own point of view, the other ones are the bad guys while they just want to survive with their friend but in the end, they're all the same.    … Expand

    The first game had an amazing story and decent gameplay. The gameplay for this one is fun, but the story kills it with bad pacing, and just an unsatisfied story, its sucks since naughty dog is an amazing developer, finally the game looks incredible.

    Но главное разочарование из-за чего 0 это сюжет, он не просто плохой, он ужасен, он отвратителен и дело не только в убийстве любимого героя и в навязывание толерантных взглядов (даже это сделали ужасно - пресно) проблема в общем, во всем. (Спойлеры)
    Эли, как персонаж не развивается, она деградирует.
    В конце ее решение не убивать Эбби после всего, что она сделала, кажется таким наигранным и высосанным из пальца, что хватаешься за голову. И спрашиваешь за чем все это было?.. В конце её отношение к Джойлу это настоящее предательство по отношению к сюжету первой части. Пытались показать персонажа лучше, а показали запутавшийсю идиотку.
    За игру за Эбби я вообще молчу, персонаж, на которого охотишься, кого ненавидешь становиться для тебя главным ГГ. Замечательно, просто моральная пытка для игрока, а геймплей не чем не отличается от предыдущего.
    Я не знаю за чем прошел эту игру, наверное думал, что хотя бы увижу концовку более менее, что мне хоть покажут как убьют ненавистного персонажа...а получил только еще больше негатива.
    Ставить что то за графику, я не вижу смысла она тут не как не спасает, так как наложена на однотипные, серые, повторяющиеся локации. Прекрасный показатель того, что случается когда за работу берутся бездари, главная цель которых не создать что то особенное, а протолкнуть в массы свои сомнительные идеи.

The game tries too hard (unsuccessfully) to make us sympathize with a character that we absolutely cannot forgive. I think Naughty dog can fix the problem with the story very easily. First, get rid of the 10 hours of TORTURE with Abby and give the players a choice to kill or not kill Abby. That's it. OR at least show Abby being conflicted about killing Joel (cuz he saved that **** and get rid of the torture if you want the player to sympathize with her.

    I would firstly say that the graphics on this game are the best in any game ever made period 10/10. The game-play is 90% the same as the first game so its great 9.5/10. The cinematography was amazing as well as the background score 9/10. When you play the game you will be amazed by the how detailed, realistic and phenomenal the world looks. The attention to detail is amazing! the grass moves realistically when you move on it, as does the water, each NPC has a name which their friends call them when you kill them and soooo much more. Naughty Dog has always delivered in these areas.
    The biggest flaw in the game is the story. The game present you with a despicable character (Abby) who tortures and kills Joel main protagonist while another spits on his corps. This does what its supposed to do, this builds up extreme anger in you towards Abby. So for you the only purpose of the game is to take revenge. You travel a long and fun journey to get to Abby. But when you do get to her, the game Forces you to play as this uninteresting character for more than TEN HOURS! during these 10 hours your only thought is to get it over with so you can finally kill Abby. But THEN the game MAKES YOU fight the only likable character left (Ellie). After you've beaten your favorite character and her pregnant girlfriend half to death and killing another friend of hers. You Finally get to play as Ellie for a short while and see that she has a good life and then the game makes you play as Abby AGAIN! Abby gets caught by some psychos, you leave to kill her for good this time, you catch her, you almost kill her and then...U don't. Because, you only wanted to kill tens of innocents for Joel's death but not the one that killed him. U get back home to find out that Ellie's girlfriend is gone as well. End of story.    … Expand

So many people that are team Joel/Ellie just can't seem to fathom that they aren't always right. That actions have consequences. The story is haunting and heartbreaking. I don't understand people saying there are plotholes. Joel has been living in Jackson and trading with strangers for 4 years now, it makes sense than Tommy would introduce the both of them to a group of friends of a woman they just saved. People are being stupidly picky.

    I loved the story in a way that you can love something that tears you to shreds. It is in no way a feel good game, at least for me. But it's honest and raw and a different story than one i've ever played. Yes, i'm sorry we lost Joel, but if you knew who Joel was, you could see why he was such a target. I enjoyed getting to know Abby and her life and i understand why she did what she did. In the end both Ellie and Abby lose way more than they gain and that's true in real life as well when people get so utterly focused on revenge.

    The game play is beautiful. The new mechanics - going prone, swinging from ropes, breaking glass as new way of entering, new crafting objects, the environment (omg i love ferns and long grass!!!!!). All fun and enjoyable. Having grown so found of Joel and Ellie, watching Joel go through heart ache, survive an apocalypse, grow hardened to the world. But then get a second chance with Ellie was amazing. I waited patiently for the follow up. Staying spoiler free despite the odds stacked against me. Saying that I am disappointed, angry, confused and broken with the Last of us part 2 is an understatement! I just don’t get it?? How can you mess up a winning formula that was pretty much guaranteed to sell and do well. Last of Us part 2

    Graphics are amazing - TBF i expect nothing less from a AAA title in 2020!

    Gameplay mechanics are good but pretty much the same as the first with some improvements - going prone, climbing and dodging but that’s about it.

    Story is disgusting! Treatment of Joel, not just killing him but making him die in the most painful, brutal way possible and then literally spitting on his dead body??? Just not acceptable however you try and slice it.

    Ellie is this mean and a not so likeable character all of a sudden?? Must be the fact that she has lived in relative safety with her own home, surrounded by loved ones, friends and community for the last 4 years?? We have hardly any scenes of Joel and Ellie one museum flashback which is really nice. But that’s it, every other scene between them she is just horrible to him. Newsflash NaughtyDog, practically everyone of us doesn’t think what Joel did at the end of Last of Us was that big a deal!?!! I think every father would have done the same in a flash!?! I think any daughter or other human would understand why he choose not to let her die. Making us play for so long as the character who kills Joel has to be the biggest mistake ever made in gaming history. She is shoved down your throat in this linear story. You just have to grit your teeth and try and get through. Even forces you to beat Ellie to a pulp at one stage and fight Tommy. Everything I am told about Abby still doesn’t make me like her. Her father is not very likeable, her redemption with two random kids doesnt make any sense. They saved her life she says over and over again, well so did Joel didn’t make a difference then!?!?! No she still brutalised him, not even on he saved my life I’ll make it quick!!! Even the kids who are supposed to be why we should like her are a bit annoying. Lev basically runs off and gets his mother and sister killed after you have just spent 2 hours trying to save the same sister.

    Ellie kills like 1000 people trying to get to Abby and then when you finally get your hands on her right at the end and think you’ll get a pay off and some redemption. She decides killing is bad and she’s not worth it. In this mission of pointless revenge Ellie loses everyone and everything she ever had. No Joel, no Tommy, no Dina, can’t go back to Jackson. Just left alone, wondering the wilderness and then the game finishes!

    Shame on you NaugtyDog, you always had my money regardless, I’d buy your products day 1 without even thinking about it, not anymore!    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am a huge Naughty Dog fan, I purchased the collector's edition of this game and looked forward to it for years. I did my best to ignore spoilers, and I was convinced that the hate for this game leading up to its release was just bigots who couldn't handle LGBTQ representation in the game. Sadly, after finishing this game, I can say this game is just not good. I was excited for a transgender character to be in this game, and its one of the most interesting and well done parts of the game. But the game is marketed as the next step in Ellie's journey, and Ellie's part of this game ends up being a confusing mess.

    First, I'll mention what I liked about this game:

    Gameplay: It doesn't differ much from the first game but it is good, as you'd expect from ND. Stealth is fun and can be rewarding, the world is very detailed and makes exploring fun, at least for a large portion of the game. I will say there could have been something new added here, there are additional weapons, some new things to craft, and a couple new types of enemies. Enemy AI is improved and you can hide in tall grass, but it is very similar to the first game.

    Graphics: This game is beautiful. The fact that these graphics were achieved on a PS4 is astounding, it is the most impressive part of this game.

    Some story elements were great: The flash back scene where Joel shows Ellie the museum is awesome and reminded me of some of the great moments of the first game. Honestly, the scars vs. wolves was actually interesting, I would have rather just got a game where I played as Lev and got that story than what I was given. If anything, these moments of great story telling make the rest of the game more infuriating, because you can see that there was still the potential for this game to be a masterpiece.

    The story: Here is where it all falls apart. First off, I don't hate this game because Joel dies, I don't hate it because you have to play as Abbie. I do think this should have been a new IP or a story in the world of Last of Us separate from Ellie/Joel.
    The characters in this story constantly contradict themselves. Dina says she had to come with us, she supports our quest for revenge. Then immediately says "There are a lot of bad guys, does this change anything for you?" Jesse tells us he would have come, he looked up to Joel, these people deserve what they're going to get. Then immediately says "We're attacking their camp just like they did us. They could come back and attack Jackson, does that change anything for you?" This seems like a huge disconnect. If the characters actually think this they wouldn't be here with us, ready to kill people. This just seems like poor writing to ask the player "do you feel bad for what you're doing? You're just as bad as these people." Yes, that is true, I never thought Joel was a good guy, I supported his decision because he saved Ellie out of love. Love and selfishness, and anyone who can imagine themselves in his spot would most likely do the same. What if this was your mother? your sister? your daughter? This is just as bad of writing as the characters yelling out someone's name after you kill their friend. Of course if you kill someone, the other people knew their name. I can't even begin to tell you how little of a **** I give. I am here for revenge. These people can die after watching their friends die. Ellie watched helplessly at Joel's broken and tortured body. While Abby smashes his head in with a golf club, she does not care about these people, and neither do I.
    Joel being brutally tortured and murdered is obviously given to us to make us angry and want revenge. And the game obviously wants us to not want that revenge by the end of it, to show us violence is pointless, and we shouldn't have hate in our heart. But if you can tell me that you could watch your father be tortured and murdered in front of you and you wouldn't kill that person, you're pathetic. We finally hunt down one of these people, who calls Joel a **** to our face, and I get to hit square a few times to hit her with a pipe, all the while I just see Ellie's face? I felt more impact torturing someone in GTA or God of War games. I felt let down, i wanted to make this character pay for what she did. Now, following the scene where Ellie is dealing with the weight of torturing this woman, really well done, great acting/scene. But if Ellie was going to turn back from revenge I think this is where it would have happened.
    This game drags on forever and it left me feeling like this was Abbie's story, not Ellie's. The end of this game is some of the worst writing I've ever witnessed and we never get revenge. This game tries really hard to pull of what the first game did with its own twists and turns. And it fails every step of the way. This game is not a masterpiece, its a story based game and a 4/10 is a generous score. This game made me question all Sony first party titles in the future, something I didn't think possible.    … Expand

SJW infection has completely ruined this franchise and tainted Naughty Dog as a developer forever. I’m done with their games.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the GOTY for sure, and another reason I am a proud Sony PlayStation owner/supporter. Every game cannot please everyone, but this one is surely attracting negative feedback because (a) the main character is a lesbian, (b) half of the game is spent playing as the "enemy" Abby, who is a very built female with almost no chest, and (c) there is a high-profile sub-plot featuring a transgender child. When you first control Abby in Wyoming I thought to myself, she seems like the enemy - but I wasn't sure. Obviously that gets cemented pretty quickly as the story unfolds.

    Like some of the critics, I was not surprised by what happened to Joel. He single-handedly killed a lot of people (and probably destroyed the Fireflies), and indirectly killed thousands, if not millions (it's unclear how many survivors there are). That said, I always justified his actions because I would do the same for my daughter, and - as I recall - the procedure was not even guaranteed to work. I absolutely love Ellie's reaction when she finds out, but I also buy into Joel being convinced he did the right thing.

    From Abby's perspective, she killed his Dad, probably destroyed the Fireflies (her extended family) and stopped the cure in its tracks. He's the villain in her eyes. Sure, the Fireflies are "bad" because they kill people, but so did Joel and Ellie. Everyone with a cause believes theirs is right. No one (except truly evil people) actually believe they are the evil ones.

    When it became clear to me I'd be playing as Abby during the same 3 days in Seattle it took for Ellie to find her, I was in a bit of shock. I didn't want to play as her because I was behind Ellie's story. But wake up people, THAT IS THE POINT HERE. Naughty Dog wants us to be uncomfortable. They want us to not care for Abby AT ALL. There's no need for backstory because you are not supposed to understand or feel for her at this point. All the people saying the storytelling here is bad are fools... it's actually brilliant.

    Think about it; no one got mad because there are chapters in Game of Thrones or the Expanse novels (or shows) that are through the eyes of the supposed "villains." Heck, people even grew to like Jamie Lannister (or pick whoever else you liked, like the Hound or Daenarys). This is no different. In a video game, the only way to show you things through another character's eyes is to force you to play as her. Kudos to Naughty Dog for having the balls to do it.

    By the end of Abby's story, I understood her and felt for her. I wouldn't blame either of them for ending the other's life. I honestly didn't know which way it was going to go (kudos again to Naughty Dog here), and I won't spoil the final outcome here. All I will say is it ended the right way, even if it doesn't give you warm and fuzzies - just as I felt after the first game.

    One final note. I think it's sad that gamers expect female protagonists to all look and feel like Lara Croft. I don't feel as if Naughty Dog is pushing an agenda so much as they're acknowledging there is diversity in the world. Joel wasn't comfortable when he realized that Ellie is a lesbian. Abby didn't understand Lev's situation at first. It's OK to not understand or to be uncomfortable, but are you really going to slam a game because it's chosen to make its characters more like actual people? Does the main character have to be a white male or a big-busted female to get positive reviews? If so, that's just sad.

    Was this game as good as the first? No, probably not. Sequels seldom are. But was it more of solid Naughty Dog gameplay, visuals and story? Hell yes. I can't wait to play through it again.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pokusím se zhodnotit hru z pohledu cápka který si tu hru koupil přes jrc e-shop. To co se stalo s joelem po dvou hodinách hry mě sice šokovalo, ale neodradilo od hraní. Naopak mě fakt zajímalo jak se to bude vyvíjet. Pomalejší rozjezd hry za Ellie a první den v Seattlu jsem uvítal. Mrzelo mě že už nebylo více takových lokací s minimapou a otazníky cejtil jsem se chvíli jako v zaklínači. Každým dnem gradovala skvělá atomosféra. Zdlouhavý looting mi dlouhou dobu vůbec nevadil jsem typ hráče který opravdu do detailu prochází lokace nasává atmosféru a všímá si maličkostí. Zlom u mě nastal v polovině hry kdy jsem se dozvěděl že si za ellie nějakých deset hodin nezahraju. Najednou jsem hrál za holku která vypadá jako almara byla mi nesympatická už v první hodině kdy ani nevíte co provede a hra vám deset hodin cpe do chřtánu jak je to vlastně skvělá holka. Najednou přišlo znechucení lokace jsem probíhal mnohem rychleji gameplay byl sice za Abby akčnější a měli jste i nový arzenál zbraní, ale já si to prostě nemohl užít tak jako kdybych hrál za ellie nebo Joela nebo kohokoliv jiného kdo nerozbil oblíbený postavě hlavu golfovou holí. Příběh Abby mě proste nepřirostl k srdci neprobudila ve mě špetku empatie jen jsem chtěl mít tuhle pasáž za sebou. Až do epilogu. Jakmile Abby podruhé nechá ellie žít stoupne u mě. Najednou mi za ní v epilogu nebylo za těžko hrát. Náplast přišla v posledních dvou hodinách za Ellie které jsem si opravdu užil. Potom přišel samotný konec ze kterého jsem nemohl ani usnout. Ellie má oblíbená postava přijde o všechno o kamarády Joela asi i o Dinu jen kvůli tomu aby dokončila co začala. Když k tomu má dojít nakonec ji nechá jít. Takže nemá rodinu, pomstu a aby toho nebylo málo což mě nasralo asi úplně nejvíc nemá dva prsty a nemůže už hrát na kytaru. Alespoň už ne tak dobře. To mě jako kytaristu zasáhlo. Na Ellie jsem nejvíc miloval to že umí hrát na kytaru. Ani tohle na konec nedopadlo a já byl fakt zdrcenej a nasranej. Nakonec musím hru zhodnotit kladně protože mě celou dobu bavila i když bych si přál aby byl jiný konec a nemusel jsem hrát za tu mužatku.… Expand

I wonder if they had a story idea? Probably not. It is horrifying to see that they desecrate bellowed characters like Joel. Like Luke Skywalker, he did not get a worthy story or ending. The parts where you play as Abby are just painful, you don’t feel anything for her even though the game tires to tell you she’s just misunderstood, but honestly I don’t care she sucks and it pisses me off that it’s Ellie’s stupid careless mistakes that cause her to track you down, and what is up with Ellie ? She’s not the lovable funny amusing girl from the first game .... It feels like she’s gone through a trauma but the game never explains What that is .... the game play is the only thing that saves this game but it’s a little Repetitive with long segments of basically, Kill all the Infected or human enemies, None of that trying to sneak past clickers from the first game, In fact the game is much easier than the first game, The story is a complete let down but the gameplay save the game from being terrible but sadly it’s just an average game, Which given its predecessor it’s a real shame and disappointment… Expand

    Ive been playing for so long, linear games are my jam. The Witcher Wild Hunt, God of War 4 and The Last of Us Remastered were my best games but nothing of them compares to The Last of Us part 2. Graphics and details are on another level, my hobby consist of watching movies and series and the storytelling and voice acting on this game is without a doubt the best Ive experienced in my gamingIve been playing for so long, linear games are my jam.     Теперь о самом больном - о сюжете. Такой ход режиссер объясняет желанием сделать совсем другую игру, которая рассказывает совсем другую историю. Но стараясь отдалиться от первой части изо всех сил Дракманн в результате добивается самого страшного - он теряет связь с самим игроком. Дальнейшее происходящее вокруг иначе как фарсом назвать нельзя, все ключевые решения персонажей вызывают множество вопросов. Не имея точки опоры среди имеющихся героев игрок превращается в отстраненного наблюдателя. Игра теряет именно то чувство единения с игровыми персонажами, за которое и полюбили первую часть. Новые герои не вызывают симпатии, те, которые могли бы ее вызвать в перспективе, остаются недосточно раскрытыми, хотя игра более чем продолжительная (25 часов игрового времени). Тот самый "великий смысл", который Дракманн силой запихал в игру в виде осознания того, к чему приводит круговорот мести, как чужеродное тело нарушает логику повествования и идет поперек со здравым смыслом. Всю игру я мечтал только об одном - хоть бы весь этот происходящий вокруг бред был просто сном Элли. Но увы, это все и есть вторая часть, которую некоторые ждали 7 лет.

    При этом в предательских трейлерах создатели осознанно формировали ожидания совсем иного продукта. Фактически они манипулировали ожиданиями фанатов, давая им надежду прикоснуться к тем заветным эмоциям, которые подарила первая часть. И моменты возврата к прошлому действительно в игре есть, но увы не в той форме и не в той продолжительности как хотелось бы игрокам. Самое страшное, что эти моменты возврата к прошлому и являются самой сильной частью игры. Такое ощущение, что их делала другая команда разработчиков. Они как бы надсмехаются над игроком, показывая то, какой могла бы стать игра, если бы Дракманн поставил бы на первое место конечного потребителя продукта, а не свое собственное эго.

    Если судить объективно, то я бы поставил этой игре 10 за техническую часть и 0 за сюжет. Итого 5 баллов. Но если бы кто-то дал мне такую возможность, я бы заплатил за эту игру еще столько же, чтобы стереть из памяти то, что я прошел.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is frustrating, Ellie losing herself is frustrating, having to play as a character you don't know is frustrating, not making the decisions you would make is frustrating but that is the whole point in my opinion.

    The Last of Us 2 does not let you control the narrative and it doesn't control it for you to be exactly what you expect or want either, this is a good thing.

    Ellie follows the character path set out in the first game where she is not a perfectly good character, she has attitude and doesn't like to listen to people, she is emotionally immature and she has severe anger issues. That continues in this game as it should and after the loss of Joel she completely spirals into the worst parts of her personality. She was always this character, and naughtydog have done a great job expanding on that dark truth when the circumstances push Ellie beyond her limits.

    Ellie puts her needs above all else and kills everyone Abby cares about and I mean everyone. Abby on the other hand starts off as a monster, someone I hated with a passion for killing Joel and I couldn't wait to hunt her down and kill her, but she grows on you like a fungus. You start aligned with Ellie but then Ellie's actions that you play out as you cut through people like they're nothing, slowly start to turn your view of her sour.

    Abby has her reasons for revenge and they are powerful ones and yet she only kills the responsible party. Abby does not kill innocents until threatened and even then she let's Ellie live. I would honestly say by the end of the game I was thoroughly feeling so many emotions I didn't know what to do. I went from wanting to kill Abby to slowly losing that drive amid Ellie's one woman murder spree and finally to wanting Abby to just kill Ellie so they could both have some peace.

    This game is emotionally wrenching and it will frustrate you, it will make you cry and it will make you feel unimportant, angry and lost. You aren't a god in this game, you can't control the characters as they both take their own paths with their psychological portraits being laid out before you with every action, they are characters, whole and done, you have no input to make the world they live in better or to make them fit into the good person, bad person stereotype in 90% of games these days.

    This lack of control makes the game what it is, a new and exciting avenue of gaming where it's not just one the same old good person destroys all evil again and again. This is the human condition, it's grey and messy and harsh and sometimes it seems like there's no light. It shows the truth of those who can find peace and those who cannot and the cost of both paths.

    The last of us 2 made me feel more than a game has made me feel in years and that alone is worth the money, however when you add in the amount of gameplay, beautiful graphics and amazing story lines (you get two!) there is genuinely no reason not to buy it.

    Ignore the review bombers who blindly hated this game after a few hours or for ignorant reasons or simply because Joel dies, there were times I was struggling to understand the game direction. When you finish and look at the game deeper and hen sit there and realise what you have just been through, it's astonishingly awakening.

    Regarding Joel's death, he dies for his mistake, the root cause of all of the hardships and death in this game. He was never the perfectly moral person, yes he made his choice for love but the game doesn't use that as a free pass to give him a happy ending, because it was not the right thing to do. He killed dozens of humans who only wanted to save the world and in the end, he caused so many more deaths and he died for it.

    This game perfectly illustrates how one decision can affect the whole balance of a world and it does that perfectly.

    It doesn't protect the characters just because the player expects them to be protected, it is dark and bare and cold and then there are these human moments in-between that just make that dark wholly encompassing. There was time I just wanted Ellie to stop, to stop hurting everyone and just go home and live peacefully but she can't.

    Abby on the other hand, loses everything, I would argue that in the end she loses more than Ellie, yet she still sails off to be free. Abby is the healthy side of this story and I genuinely hope the last of us 3 does happen so i can see what happens to her.

    Please give this game a chance and play it all and look at it, don't just "go characters I liked die, that bad, me no like".

    This game is realistic and harsh and as I said in the beginning, frustrating but it will be an experience you will not ever forget.    … Expand

On the contrary, even though the ending is sad and unbearable to the point I have nightmares, i totally love it. it made me think. which I think is good. The choices Ellie's choose to make were very characteristic to the human being. She couldn't free herself from the burden and the loss of her adoptive father. Obviously if you think ln a objective view, you would think her choice were dumb and that should have let it go, which I agree! But that's her story and we gotta understand that that is her point of view and that we can't just put our-self in the place of Ellie.

    Remember when Joel saved Ellie from the Hospital, you were all agreeing that killing a doctor for selfish purpose was ok. Abby seeked revenge, Ellie seeked revenge too. It's human. It's just retribution.

    On another note, I think the staff really made a good work, such as the way they wanted the game to be played. Like the intro with Abby, then Ellie for the revenge, and then the 2nd part with Abby point of view, to finally with Ellie again.

    This game is very intense, the graphics are great. The story is very good and realistic where the ending isn't predictable and the characters are all good so I would definetly recommend it.

    But the way this story went.. what a complete mess... nothing but pure shock value for the sake of it and a complete disregard for everything that came before... 7 years wait wasted.. play for the gameplay only... Joel deserved better.. Ellie deserved better.. Abby deserves worse... why do creators continue to think that we want our expectations subverted when writers simply cannot pull this off    … Expand

    The game is awesome. But for me it wasn't as impactful as the Last of Us 1, or Uncharted 4, or even the latest Uncharted DLC. Weirdly it doesn't look as good as Uncharted 4. And the story.. it's really great, but unnecessarily long, and unrewarding for a player who put such effort to beat the game.

An absolute piece of art that transcends the medium of video games, and certainly a crowning jewel in Naughty Dog and PlayStation’s history. Don’t be bothered by the negative reviews: haters gonna hate. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to this engrossing and harrowing page turner.

Не скажу, что игра идеальная и что всё в ней мне понравилось. Но всё это связано с сюжетом. Так как изначально занял сторону и когда мне стали показывать, то что я не хотел видеть и делать это немного не понравилось.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
