Naughty dog will get no more money from me ever again. Their show on HBO will prob flop harder than this game.

The first couple of hours are not anything special but really it picks up and becomes truly amazing. The new character of Abby is easily one of my favorite characters in gaming period. Alot of controversy surrends her saying that she has poor writing but personally as a kid coming from similar circumstances I can personally say that she is perfectly written. The game has no to little plot holes which I see in many reviews they state. This is false. Last of us 2 is truly a masterpiece of both storytelling and gameplay. Most of the negative reviews are review bombing against the "gay" agenda which if that is you. Go **** yourself. Expand

I really enjoyed it and was surprised by some of the things that happened, things I nor my friends expected but even though I was mad at first I remembered what type of game it was and put it in a real world situation and it all made since. Overall this was an astounding game, it’s in a tie for game of the year with Final Fantasy VII Remake for me Expand

The gameplay hardly changed or upgraded from the last game, the enemies are more tedious (not fun) and killing them feels more like a shore. The storyline keept me uninterested and it was poorly executed. Definitely a giant downhill downgrade from the first game.

Spoiler free this is more addressing the ridiculous scores a bunch of "players" are leaving. Firstly leaving a score review when you've clearly not played the whole game or at least a significant chunck is pointless and ridiculous. I've heard things like it's not open enough yet at points the area's you can explore are substantial if you look.

People saying it's boring.....you move to one area kill enemies then walk around for 20 mins with nothing. Yes at some points there isn't a lot of action but that's not what this game is about. You need atmosphere, a lot of the time the down time moments are to allow conversation between characters or simply to allow some atmosphere. Also a lot of the time these moments allow exploration where notes can be found for more world building or safe codes. Equally the contrast between the quiet moments and then the moments of action are key to the experience.
This game is about story, it's about creating a believable world with relatable characters. It hasn't evolved a whole load from tlou 1 but then why change something great? If anything this improves on the first. Movement and conflict is so much smoother with more fluidity to motion. The only criticism I can find is that there are a few light glitches but v rare and insignificant.
Finally anyone bombing this score because there is a feminist undertone or because Ellie is a Lesbian who has a relationship with (shock horror) a girl.......
Go look at yourself in the mirror and question what you are doing.
The game is excellent. Tlou 1 is one of my fav games ever and this definitely joins that list. Well done naughty dog.

It makes no sense why Ellie didn’t kill Abby, she killed so many people and lost so many people on her path to revenge just to let her go in the end because a flashback of Joel playing a guitar. Makes 0 sense she’s lost everything for nothing. Couldn’t have ended any worse. Funny how a little moment some people didn't even think about ended up becoming important to the story. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This 7 years of waiting just didn´t worth it. I didn´t saw the leaks, so I felt very shocked and cheated when the Joel death scene came up. In the trailers they make you believe that he will go with you in your revenge mission. That NEVER happens...at all. And telling that is to avoid the spoilers, is just plain lying. One thing is avoiding the spoilers, and other thing is completely lying to the consumers showing them something they will never have. Joel dies in the most gruesome way in the first 2 hours or less, in hands of a character that is totally new and that no one cares about. Mr Neil Druckmann said that this sequel will honour Ellie and Joel. I really didn´t saw ANY of that. He disrespected both of his characters, turning a badass survivor into a stupid old man, and a charismatic girl into an adult with almost no emotions.

What bothers me the most are this specific points:

    1. They want to make you believe that Joel was bad and that he deserved that. Yeah, he killed lots of people, but for surviving. Not because it was funny or cool for him . He was killing bad people who tried to killed him and Ellie during ALL the first game. Have you heard the audios and find the notes in TLOUS? THERE WAS NO CURE PEOPLE! The fireflies kept experimenting with inmune people and killing them for nothing, also they were going to kill Joel. THEY WEREN´T GOOD PEOPLE!!! So, for Joel are consequences but for them not? If you take this whole plot of actions and consequences, well I´m sorry but Abby´s father deserved to die, because he was killing innocent people to try to find a vaccine. This is what they are trying to say, but why it has to affect the main character that everybody loves?

    2. They try to make you empathize with Abby, showing you OH LOOK! she plays with dogs, OH LOOK Abby and his father. Sorry but I just couldn´t empathize with her. She was a mean person. She enjoyed making people suffer. And also her friends told her she should stop killing. SHE IS THE VILLAIN HERE! Stop pretending she is not! And after all she has done. She deserves being forgiven? Is this a joke? She killed Joel, she killed Jesse, left Tommy blind and also she was going to kill Dina, and after all of this Ellie is like...meh..I´ll let you go (?) It doesn´t make any sense!

    3. Druckmann and some people think that every one that doesn´t like this game is an incel, and homophobe or a hater bot or a crying baby . It´s not like that. What bother us is how the story was handled after all they achieved with Tlous 1. They wanted to kill Joel? FINE! But not in suck a stupid way, taking him out of character. He could smell a trap from miles away, he didn´t even helped a family in the prologue of the game to protect his family, but here, him and Tommy are giving all of their personal info to a group of armed people (?) As I said before. They are old, but they are not stupid. I love the diversity of the game, the inclusion of LGTB+ community, the fact that Abby is buff as hell, I think that those factors are AMAZING, the only problem here...is the story.

It´s sad that a game with such beautiful environments, gameplay mechanics and music, is not good enough for a lot of people just for the story. I finished TLOUS 1 very quick because I was immerse in the story and I just couldn´t stop playing. In this game I was really having a hard time to continue. Specially in the Abby part. And people who says that they owe nothing to the fans, they are so wrong. They owe everything to the fans, because they are where they are because of them. A good example of treating the fans with respect is the development of Sonic the Movie. I hope mr Druckmann can learn a bit from them. You can have a lot of sales, but that doesn´t mean that every costumer is enjoying the game. People bought the game because of the trust in Naughty Dog, but it was worthless.

Where do I begin? Joel previously left a family pleading for help on the side of the road. Joel saw through an ambush and ran a man over. He was willing to kill both Henry and Sam and yelled at Ellie when she intervened. He's a 25 year apocalyptic veteran with hundreds if not thousands of kills and murders under his belt.
Yet he voluntarily saved Abby despite a hoard of infected all rushing them. He volunteered personal information to her and treated her as if she were a guest of his and offered for her to come back to camp and resupply. He dropped his guard and followed her back to her place to meet up with her people. That's not what Joel does or who he is.

We then take over the game as Abby AS JOEL'S KILLER and play 40% of the game as her with the intent of killing Ellie. The story of the first game is actually detrimental to the story of this one. The writing in the first had us grow with her, bond with her, and become family with her. You now want us as the player to actively try to kill her?? Without establishing any context beforehand, just out of the blue murders Joel. No amount of writing will ever get us to see things from her point of view after that. First impressions take seconds and changing that viewpoint can take years. No amount of playing as Abby has changed my mind that she killed Joel the way that she did and so soon in the game.

The first game was THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIME and Naughty Dog just shat all over us. Neil wanted a divisive game about hate, said it would polarize the fans, and said repeatedly the game is not fun. F this. How is a game about hate, violence, and revenge going to end on a note of mercy and compassion? It's very clear that the writers of this game are not the same writers from the first.

The story takes a drastic turn from the expected early on, I personally feels like it drags during the middle of the game, but toward the end it is once again enthralling. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. MY TOTAL SCORE | 10 | - Everything i wanted in this game was to play like Joel and Ellie. NaughtyDog dind't gave me that chance. Instead they paired me with the most unpleasant situation that i lived in a videogame. I had to see with my head pinned down, how my favourite character died like a dog. Then, i wanted to cry and kill everyone. But the game forced me into Abbie's storyline. I felt awkward playing as her. Part of me wanted to drop the controller and let the infected kill her over and over again. As the story was told, i understood that Abbie's group were people too. There was no good or bad guys, no black or white, even the Scar were gray. What Joel did in the first game had a major impact and ruined their lifes. Even if i was attached to Ellie, i understood. Every flashback, every cutscene was perfect, and had the perfect timing. I wanted to cry every time Ellie played Future Days.
This game is PERFECT and it diserves a high score and probably GOTY award, but understand this: the game deals with mature content, storyline and character developement. That's why it has a low review score. Because people wanted a cheesy revenge story, plain characters and straight-forward moral situtations.

    MY REVIEW:
CHARACTERS | 10 | - One of the best character developement that i ever seen. I feel attached with each and every one of them. I hated Abbie and the Wolves, but the game drives you into their story right after your favourite character was killed by them and shows you that they are people too, and that (from Abbie's point of view) Joel diserved what he got. Abbie was Ellie's Joel.

STORY | 10 | - The game is not a classic revenge story by any means, and it's not for everyone. The mature content and depth of the characters combined with the story hits you right in the feelings. The different versions of the same event allows the player to understand everything that the characters are going trough. Everything is GRAY, not the clasic black and white, good versus evil.

WORLD | 10 | - I love the world. What can i say? The world feels alive, every NPC of every faction has a name and probably a story. You hear them, they miss people, they are afraid, and when you are done hearing them and hiding, you kill them and the other NPCs scream "OH GOD, MARTHA IS DEAD". Freaking GREAT. The ambience and the ruins of the city are immersive, the sounds are incredible. Every part of the world design is awesome!

GAMEPLAY AND ANIMATIONS | 9 | - The gameplay feels true to "The Last of Us", stealth mechanics, spam-grab everything, fluid combat, etc. I have one critic: The stealth-kill animations. I mean, come on, it's always the same. Couldn't you add at least two? Anyway, it's a minor thing, everything else is excelent.

    ______________________________________________________________________
    ADDRESSING THE CRITICS:
    1) A character you liked died. So, what? You deal with it and see where the game gets you.

    2) I absolutely HATE games, series or movies that force the LGBT+ in their stories. This game is an example of how to deal with that without forcing it. We have a lesbian, a bisexual jewish, a trans-gender Scar-asian boy, and TONS of NPCs talking about "Getting back with my man/woman". I didn't feel forced into that not even for a second. The game deals with it with absolute grace in a normal fashion, without imposing ideals. Just people dating people.

It massively explored our feelings and the ability to empathize with someone who hurt you really bad. I do feel that the ending was "cut short", which kind of reminds me of Life is Strange 1. As if they were in a hurry. I liked the gameplay, although it's not for everyone. If you liked the gameplay in the first one, I don't know why you wouldn't like it in the second one.
