A truly gripping and shocking story, using before unthought of storytelling techniques, combined with the most polished and detailed gameplay in any video game to date. A beautiful and pertinent follow up to the first game, a must play.

Probably the biggest disappointement i have ever felt about a cultural product in my life. The last Star Wars movies feel like they have been written by William Faulkner or Aristote compared to this gargabe. Even if you set aside all the agenda they try to shove down your throat it is still utter garbage.

I enjoyed running around collecting things, finding letters from people that gave the world a bit more life and tragedy to it, cracking the codes for safes, the rope puzzles, the up-close and in your face combat when you would melee or dodge someone. For all of that alone it earns a 2 from me.

The storytelling on the other hand... it's awful. Absolute garbage compared to the first game. After Joel was killed I was eager to get revenge, so when the confrontation between Abby and Ellie came I was ready for some fight scene to break out with our girl coming out the winner... instead you're forced to spend several long hours playing as Abby. Why? I asked myself that a lot. I hate her character, I hate the way she looks, I hate what she did to Joel, so why is that game putting all of these obstacles in my way in a weak and sh*t attempt to try and make her seem like a good person, and make the player feel bad for her?

By the time I finally caught up with where I left off as Ellie, you watch and play from Abby's point of view as she kills Jesse and puts a bullet in Tommy's head, and then stalks Ellie around the theatre. Ellie is equipped to her teeth with weapons and Abby is unarmed but somehow YOU'RE FORCED TO BEAT THE SH*T OUT OF ELLIE and nearly kill Dina, and right as this hulking monstrosity of a character is about to kill them, they are saved by the transgender kid that Abby befriended somewhere along the line.

Fast forward a few months and Ellie, Dina, and their child JJ live on a farmhouse somewhere. We're forced to play through a slice of life that honestly feels extremely out of place, and watch cringe interactions between them. Then we're shown Ellie has PTSD from Joel's death and the **** that went down in Seattle. Tommy comes over (who apparently isn't dead) and talks to Ellie about chasing down Abby... AGAIN. Ellie leaves in the middle of the night.

The ending is sh*t, this game is sh*t I wish it was never made, the story feels like it was written by an angsty twelve-year-old, and after I was forced to play as Abby repeatedly I lost all my motivation and interest.

With that finally coming I was finally able to complete the game with my thoughts and mixed feels of the game. With many people talking about many characters deaths going quick and how the should have gone a different way is some what understandable. But also people playing the game and giving it negative feedback I think in too be more open minded about how they were killed. Joel being beat to death by a Abby with her wanting revenge for Joel killing her father in order to save Ellie. With Ellie seeing how Joel died made her wanting her revenge as well. With the way the story goes in my opinion is showing the Ellie is being coming more of a monster then Abby. Which is one of the reasons we play as both characters. With both Ellie and Abby coming together in the moment that cause everything to happen we see that Abby keeps herself from killing Dina being pregnant with Lev's help. With then next chapter coming too the farm house it shows the Ellie fells as if she has not gotten her true revenge by not killing Abby. With Tommy actions of pushing her to do so it triggers her ideas of what Abby did. With having her finally battle with Abby Ellie then realizes that Joel would not want her to turn into the kind of person that he was with always wanting revenge and succeeding at it. With her finally letting Abby go she is unevenly put at peace with her decision. Getting back to the farm house with Dina being gone, she understands that she made wrong decisions in her life accepting what she has done. Finding the guitar in the house that Joel made her not being able to play it makes her leave the guitar know that she needs to let her haunted memories go and be at peace. With having an ending like that made me have dislikes about the game but is still one of the best games I've ever played. Expand

So .. first they ruined the movie industry by introducing "diversity" because "the peoples" asked so.. now they are doing the same with games ? I havent watched a movie produced in US for almost 3 years now .. since they became junk.. I sure hope no other games company follows their example.

P.S: How much did they pay the critics ?

Funny how many 0/10 reviews for this got posted withing 12 hours of it coming out, when it takes at least 20 hours to finish, longer if you're actually exploring and playing as intended...

I will start by saying I can understand how this game isn't everyone's cup of tea. The world and stories that take place it in are unrelentingly dire. It's about the best and worst of humanity

It's about the best and worst of humanity showing through under the most traumatic circumstances imaginable. That said, I don't know how anyone could say that this game isn't a solid product.

Well, OK, I guess if you feel like a character being Jewish, or Gay, or Trans, or you know... a Woman, is "rubbing" an agenda in your face, I suppose you'll hate this. I personally like that they made none of those above traits the defining trait of any of the characters, they're people who happen to be one of the above, among many other well rounded things.

Mechanically, I found playing the game a lot better than the first one. The reworks to character movement and stealth are a huge step forward without feeling like they were trying to reinvent the wheel. This also allowed for much more open and inventive level design, thanks to more mobile characters and more varied AI behaviors. The fact that the game feels similar, but not the same to the first one is a plus.

Narratively, the story is a lot darker than the first iteration. It can be a slog at times. I was glad when it was over because I wasn't sure how much more I could take. But at the same time, I couldn't put it down until I reached the end. I played my first play through in about 25 hours, exploring liberally, and completed it in 2 days.

Does it live up to the previous iteration? It's hard to say. I will say that it felt True. This is not a world of rosey outlooks and happy endings. The consequences of the previous game are significant, and though I was upset by what happened, I never felt like the events of the game didn't follow a natural progression of cause and effect. Ultimately, the ending felt satisfying, if melancholy, which frankly isn't that different from what I felt at the end of the first game.

That said, The Last of Us was one of the greatest stories ever told in video gaming, so if Part II only reaches 90% of that level for you, it's still pretty good.

The graphics and sound design are exceptional, the game is mechanically sound, and the narrative is well crafted. How anyone could give this game a 0/10... I dunno. As I write this, the game is out 2 days and it's 9420 - Green, 932 - Yellow, 22014 - Red reviews. I suppose, like the world this game depicts, the majority of people, free from the constraints of society, choose to be belligerent ****

For my part, I first reviewed this as an 8/10 but every day I come back and I knock it down a point. It's a solid 6.5 in my book. A masterpiece of craft and storytelling that I really did not enjoy even a little bit. Days latter I'm still thinking about the ending and feeling bad about everything that came before.

Naugthy dog did not disappoint. Part 2 feels like a large extension of part 1. This game should be played with as little previous knowledge as possible. Sit back and enjoy the story unfold before you. This is one of the best storytelling games produced so far. I hope that everyone involved at Naugthy dog can take a well deserved vacation now that the game finally released.

The story is disrespectful to the characters we have grown to love over the course of the first game, making them do things they would never actually do just to make certain situations happen. It tries so hard to be deep and important in its message but it just comes off as forced throughout the whole game. The graphics are decent but the gameplay is standard. The soundtrack is also superb and definitely worth listening to on it's own.It also plays so much smoother then the first. As for the story, I waited 7 long years, as did lot of others, to see what direction the story would go. And personally enjoyed the story slightly more than the first. It felt more emotionally grounded and you felt every major death as if you experienced it yourself. Naughty dog had made us aware from the reveal how different this game would be thematically than the first .The ending was just as ambiguous and somber as the first if not more and just shows you dont always get what you want no matter how bad you want it. The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
